Your DR rank cannot rise past your SR rank - so if your SR is A then you cannot be promoted from DR A to DR A+.

It can fall below your SR rank, but only by two levels (and five further points). If your SR falls further it "resets" your DR to the same rank - so if you're DR A/A+ and your SR falls to C (and five points further) then your DR will be reset to C.

SR S is the top rank, but DR S is a status indicator - for World Series finalists - with A+ being the top rank.
 
So I’m in for my last 6-7 races at brands, been great this week although I think because I’ve been low to mid B, that’s where the enjoyment came, since I started seeing @Gurzu in my races it started to get nasty 😁 ( nothing on you man! )

But I just got another opportunistic win, must have dropped down abit 😁 but it all comes down to small moments (despite the guy behind trying to drive through me)

 
Hey all, quick question around dirty tires. Specifically, @Tidgney you mention regularly about getting four tires off being the only time dirty tires matter in GT. I've always disagreed but never remember to get something to reference as a talking point to better understand where you're coming from on that. Today I remembered, lol.

Was running the Honda SF at Autopolis and was able to get comparison pics (dirty drivers-side in this instance). First pic you can see right-side tires are clean left-side tires are dirty. 20 frames later left-side is clean:

I've noticed that, when I put one side of the car in the funk and stand on the brakes into the next turn, the car pulls to the opposite side. For instance, left-side tires dirty = right-hand drift under braking instead of straight. Has anyone else noticed this?

My question is, what exactly is it that you mean when you say '...it only matters when you get all four off...' in your vids?

So no more wins today but still some awesome racing, highlight being this started p11 finished p3 against AS drivers - the ending is super impressive

That is a great great result and video! Good work on the results! 🔥

The one comment I’d have is I don’t think this move was on for this part of the track and corner sequence, hard to judge in the moment but it’s not optimum.

Mate, I just watched this one back and you are right this move was questionable and really I should have held back and gave him the place back but this time I was zoned in

But criticism absolutely correct

No criticism, it’s racing and things happens in fractions of moments.

Looking at it as a learning exercise for ALL OF us there wasn’t quite the room, because they rightly tried to turn in, you went over the grass and door banged them.

Being honest I’d of been very annoyed in an some of my lobbies if someone went over the grass to pass me in that situation.

I don’t think it’s worth giving the place back.

Was going to post some techniques on how to use caution for better exits but you all know.

It’s always really really tricky when the speed differentials are large and corners (RBR!!!)

It’s not a biggie, but from the other persons point of view that probably looked and felt quite bad. Not intentional but happened.

I get that, and I’m trying this week to race super clean and fair and for the most part I’ve been there,

Like the races against this Alfa 155 I mentioned, he was just on it at the time but I didn’t feel like it was barging just he was a small amount faster than me and him passing me was inevitable, I give in that situation and I’ve seen others give me in that situation and this move, whilst collecting him a little bit was inertia taking me past him and the fact the door wasn’t quite open meant I took more of the corner than I should

But it’s all good

I got you and Barney Gurzu etc here as the barometer

Every moment is tough, every race is full of nuance.

You didn’t do anything wrong, just not optimal.

We aren’t here or at least I’m not, just thought for all your driving this week that was the one to learn the most from, especially as you improve DR. No judgement just vague opinion.

Well that's typical - last hours of the week's racing and I improved my qualifying time, with what felt like a slow lap



I picked up a 2nd win earlier and had some great races among fast YouTubers, so the crappy races have been almost forgotten

EDIT/
I must confess I nudged a car yesterday and gained a place. He had shoved me on the grass or gravel 3 times in the race then proceeded to weave and block ridiculously, so on the last lap I gave him a tiny bump and took the place back. He called me a "dog" after the race, which with a name like "Barney Da Dog", I can't complain about. I told him he should race more cleanly, and he said "ok".
The most "not ok" thing, was that I deliberately nudged a car out of the way and my SR increased!! Could this be a reason for more dirty driving lately? As there appears to be zero consequences for anything other than a flat-out punt up the bumper.

Great job on your 15th win. Where did you claim it, what track? I was semi thrilled for my few little victories during the harder races in 2023 and 2024. I was disappointed in some of my races because sometimes I would finish dead last because some idiots would push me off track or divebomb me in the sand or grass which was seriously annoying.

There were times where I rage-quit after a lap or two after the race got so intense and chaotic. Good luck with the rest of this weekend.

Oh, and if you ever get frustrated in a race, don't curse or tell the driver off in the chat, it will only make the problem worse. I normally don't say anything back to the opponents to whoever treated me bad in the race.

@brockie I agree with @newmedia_dev about the pass but your driving is smooth like Jensen Button.

Tried Race B earlier in the week but it was predictably dirty so that was a no. I wouldnt touch RBR these days with the current driving standards, and I'm rubbish at it anyway.

So it was Race A over the weekend and its been good, the combo is fun and there has been a few idiots but atleast I have enjoyed it. Unlike the last few weeks where during gaming time I just booted up Elden Ring after getting annoyed after two races of filth.

I've never had the issue with 1 or 2 tyres off, it's only when I go all 4 wheels off will I suffer catestrophic understeer and braking as if I'm on ice. I still believe that's the case and how I've always driven the game even up until this point. Visualisations of the dirt don't resemble the reality as far as I'm aware but I've never gone into to much testing with it.

To give an example Road Atlanta at the top of the hill going into the left it can be very beneficial to 2 wheels on the right to be on the grass then cut the inside on the left. In theory that should mean all 4 tyres are dirty but they're not. But if you went all 4 wheels over on the left the next corner you would have far reduced performance. Essentially acts like a "flag" for the car. That's how I drive the game at least and it works well, whether that's changed in more recent times I don't believe so but I can always be wrong.
 
Summarising the weekend at Brands I can say that, with all the times I was rammed out, I finally got a lucky Sunday nyt where the rage of the weekend was probably faded away, giving me a flamboyant series of 5 podiums in a row (3 wins). Long story short, my DR is basically same as it was Friday. No gain, but at least no pain. Didn't see much NSXs out there, most were G70s and Alfas 4C or 155 , but all my credits to the guy I met on a Scirocco.
@brockie was nice to see you around and yes, mine are often desperados lobbies. 🤣
In the following one I keep at bay a pack of G70, just to let them feel a lil less meta.😉

 
Did some race C's tonight at the red bull ring. I had not raced there this week because :

-My QT was a pitiful 1:28.815, and my pace was just as bad🐌
-I knew it would be pure luck to make it past the first 3 corners (or not!):D

So i improved my quali with a 1:27.764, and gave it a go ready to die in turn 2/3.

First race, started 3rd. Went as planned: got killed in a pileup turn 3:cheers:, ended 12th.
Decided I wanted at least one "clean" race so I did another.

Second race, started 1st(wtf? its was like my 3rd pole since a started playing!), unfortunately spun a fellow racer in turn 3 in what I'd describe as a racing accident, didn't get a penalty. I was about to win but did a mistake in turn 3:banghead:. Ended 3rd.
It was a good race, so I went again😎

Third race, started 3rd. Man, some people dive from way too far and in spaces that dont exist.. the awareness you need to avoid contact and stay in the race..its too stressful:nervous:. Track limits too, but I managed this part without too much difficulty.Ended 3rd.

In the end, I did better than I expected haha

Totally bizarre (and brief) experience of Dailies this week for me.

I thought I would venture into Race B without qualifying, just to see how many positions I could gain through just staying out of trouble.

It mostly went to plan, apart from encountering;

1. Someone who thought I was brake-checking them at Hawthorns, got called out in post race chat. I was just braking.

2. Someone who took such great exception to me passing them when they left the inside open (and turned into me on the apex) that they waited a whole lap before spearing me from downtown at Druids. In their defence, they waited up for me in the next race. Delayed attack of conscience! Bizzare number 1.

3. Had a great palate-cleanser in Race A, which turned out to be my last for the foreseeable future because (Bizarre number 2) I got hit with the dreaded PSN Terms of Conduct warning and got locked out of any online shenanigans.

I'll never know if the temporary ban is due to example number 1 or number 2 (number 1 where I politely explained that I'm not the sort to ever brake check anyone in PS chat), or whether someone has flagged something they find unacceptable in my scores of shared replays from over the years.

Very frustrating, but a solid case study in the advice this community always shares, that you just shouldn't engage with these people.

OMG, that's an odd combo I've never seen before. Tomahawks at the Tsukuba course? And Samba Buses at Le Mans. I would think the B races would be the safe option but it depends on how many people want an extra challenge at races A and C.

@benjoi84 Who knows, PD might do an engine-swapped race this week, who knows. I think many players will find the Pantera race fun and classic because it has a unique blend of performance and aesthetics. Plus it's a rear wheel drive so it will be easy to drive through corners.

That was totally bizarre what you described about your races.

I figured that came down to how long/much tires are in the dirt, because there seems to be levels to it as well. I noticed tonight when watching a replay that they cleaned-up in an almost two-step fashion. They also clean-up WAY faster when only two visit the scenery...

-BUT-

I'm not gonna argue it with someone who's WAY faster than me, lol! If it mattered that much, and I was right, I'd be a superstar.😁

So did a couple of casual Sunday afternoon races (I’m so sore from riding a BMX at 45) but I went over to the US servers

I have to say the racing was fantastic, the lobbies are mixed because of the lower player counts but very fun clean racing. A lot less hit and miss than the EU ones.

Just really good racing.

My favorite race from this week's Daily Race A, edited with in-video post race commentary. 🤓

This week's Race A has been an unexpected experience for me as a return to regular online racing. The previous week's draft-fest at Daytona Oval with the Plymouths doesn't count; that was just unbridled fun 😆. But somehow I just clicked with the Lancer with its tires and at Kyoto.

Since the last vid I shared that did wonders for my confidence, not only did I notch my first GT7 win, but I proceeded to bag 32 more wins thru this morning's racing session. Yeah, most of them were flag-to-flag wins at pole largely due to the matchmaking. But quite a few I found other players that pushed me to my limit, some of them I had a few rounds with.

Also, how sweet is it to find that another user made a replica Suomy Dovizioso lid? The same one that I rock in real life. 🤩
