Race C is a nice idea, but there is simply not enough of a penalty to govern the disparity in tires. Dudes are throwing on softs and arming themselves with the righteous belief that everyone else should know what they've chosen, and should immediately surrender track position, launching themselves into every corner and causing chaos.

I REALLY REALLY hope that penalty severity makes a come back soon. Light damage isn't doing anything.

I have to say Catalunya is getting better as the week goes on, acclimatising to the track and ppl getting faster means it’s getting fierce out there

Not so much dirty just holding their lines and elbows right out, I’m repairing DR this week so you can have that position on track as long as I get top 5 and am back to B by the weekend, I’ll be set up for next week.

Ah Monza you’ve a lot to answer for

It's just a really poor track to race on, always in a corner, too flowing, too awkward with so many switchbacks etc, asking for regular contact.

I’m really enjoying despite not previously liking the track or this combo.

As you say everyone is sooo close so the racing tougher and the moves a little forced but it’s easy go side by side or defend/cutback

There is obviously a few that aren’t up for the racing just the places at all costs or the petulant ones.

I’ve found tonight that @Barney Da Dog has been putting time in unfairly while I was at work 🤣 @TechnoIsLove has gone AWOL at the first tough one or is secretly practicing on his hidden account!

Fun but close race really close race. I’ve decided in VR at least it’s one of the easiest mid length circuits to be consistent on with none of the corners being as technical as they felt in bumper cam now.

@NevilleNobody i sent you a friends request bud?

@NevilleNobody I actually like GVH gr3 I just don’t like race C length, whilst it was on race B last time I also tried getting the circuit experience but couldn’t for the life of me do the 3rd sector - but agree it’s super fast any touches in the braking will cause chaos

@newmedia_dev I think I’m going to upload a lap so you can see where I could be faster, I actually think I’m hanging onto the brake a bit, I tried braking early and coasting more and either I’m just rubbish or I’m doing it wrong 🤣😁

I can share a ghost if that helps, I’m a bit quicker than normal here but it would defo be the slowest ghost that isn’t leaderboard?

I’m playing around with ghost settings myself and resetting sectors is switched on for me now I’m really trying to find 100/ths, it’s a bit clunky with my .2 offset as they are reappearing as I’m braking in to, in or through them 🤣

Yeah awesome mate, stick a lap up here and I’m sure that’ll give me some data to use.

I would study @TechnoIsLove ‘s videos when he puts them up 🤫

But appreciated I’m sure I won’t be the only one to benefit 👍

I’ll do some laps, I don’t think I’ll beat my time but will share a .3/4 replay which should help drag/tow you a bit. On controller remember I’m playing VR so my lines are a little different.

Guy shows up, goes fast like 2 times then disappears “moaning physics this, brake balance that” or a personal fav “I’m too busy on my SAAB don’t you know, hoitty toitty” and then disappears.

The guy is unstable at best ;) :P

I changed in to 4th a bit earlier for T3,
That was my ticket early on for a decent time.

I’m now in the fidelity weeds and getting the absolute line right 8 times in a row :(

Amazing time mate I can’t get my optimal in to 47s, I have Ben on my friends list and following his ghost but the margins are so so tight or the ability that much better it’s hard going for me.

I lose out in the last sector, but close in other places. I don't think I'll try and improve as I'm probably not going to qualify higher up the grids unless I find half a second 😮

I just had a new experience at Catalunya: Last corner I get it wrong and go to the gravel. Still in the gravel but close to the tarmac facing the right way, I am hit hard from behind. It sure gets me going, but ta-dah: I get a 2 second penalty for colliding with another car. Is there any remotely logical explanation to this madness?

The servers are laggy as hell at the moment, it’s probably for contact you didn’t even realise.

And contrary to its pure P2P it’s not as traffic is funnelled through PSN at the same time which is probably worse than a pure P2P setup but good enough for a racing game definitely not optimum for FPS or some FIFA modes that is for sure

I’m laughing to myself as I’d need to find the same and with my ability it’s just not there. It’s hilarious that if you or I improved that much we would only move 4/5 places on the grid 🤣

It’s race time now and grind out 6th places I thinks
I tried changing my steering sensitivity from "auto" to 590. Any lower and it was getting a bit twitchy and also prone to understeer if pushing on too much in the slow hairpins.

It took some getting used to, but the cars feel much more responsive.

I moved over to my US account and to be honest I wish I hadn’t.

This is a difficult race to win from anything but pole but ya know that guy with the 1.49 10 cars back thinks he knows an apex better. Can’t drive at full pace in a line for nothing guy knows them there is places for taking.

It’s not exclusive to US lobbies just funny to rub you guys a bit as you all come on line.

Races are great this week and the cars are all super easy to drive GR4 and GR3, those struggling at GV especially the final chicane.

There is a technique to it and that’s to make sure you take the right angle from the first part, typically it looks slower than the ghost but you are straighter and on the power earlier, if you go to high on the curb just lift a little. It’s easier in the RCZ as it rides the curb bounces better and is one of the more easy/stable cars.

Night started well, P16 start and managed to fight my way through to P8 at the finish which I was pretty chuffed with. Then between races o had a qualy flyer going, crossed the line with a 1.48.7, 3 tenths up on my current best, but went over the track limit at the final turn by 2 pixels dammit. Then after that my internet gave out mid race. Bleh.

Hi guys, I was sick at home for the last few days. I tryed Barcelona Monday night, but I was already a mess and could get just barely below the 1:49 with the NSX. So no racing this week, just doing some liveries update on my car list. A new Alfa 4C Gr.3 Gurzu style is ready and shared for those interested.

Did 2 daily C's this morning at Grand Valley (DR B):

Race 1 : started P3 with my 47.9 QT. Ended P6.
Why ? because some guy decided to brake late and use my car as an aid to make the first corner :), lost me 3 places. Hopefully there are not too many of those.

Race 2 : started P5. Ended P3.
Some people dont have a sense of where to overtake "safely":banghead:...one tried in the fast right-left after the first corner and another on the undulating "straight" before the tunnel. Had to lift and let them by both times because clearly it was NOT going to end well 😅

Other than that it's an awesome circuit for racing, good respectful battles every race 😎

I disagree on that point. I think it's one of the best tracks to race on. Lot's of passing zone and places to set people up. What's unfortunate is people driving like it's single player, or simply oblivious to themselves. The lap time difference on fresh soft tire vs fresh hard tires is like 2 seconds.

On a related note (being oblivious to oneself), someone was quite irate with me yesterday. They had 1-2 bars of connection and lagging everywhere. I guess at some point, on their screen, they contacted me. I was close on my screen, but never touched.

Not sure I agree with that. If they get inside you on the right hander, then they've forced your hand and either you risk the inside line on the left hander, hoping they don't drift you into the dirt, or you back off and slot behind. I would advocate for the later as they have probably compromised the left hander and then you can slot to their right for the inside line at the hairpin.

I actually love GV. Makes great racing, but can be a bit argy-bargy depending on the skill of the drivers around you.

That's exactly the situation I was in.
As you said, going side by side in these corners 3 outcomes:

1.small contact, and at these speeds it means crashing for one or both of us, race over
2.we both make it through
3.someone backs off.

The thing is, we are B/S drivers. We dont have the greatest car control, do we ? 😅 So there's way more chances for 1. to happen.

I hate depending on other drivers' decision making. I'll always back off in a risky situation.

So yeah, not saying it's dirty driving or anything, just a move I'd never try
.
If I exit corner 1 better than the guy in front, I just gently tap his rear bumper going downhill and get the overtake done in the hairpin👍

Not sure if anyone has seen much change since that update today?

I had a QT of 1.49.846 or similar at Catalunya and I remember because @TheNormsk was at 49.7xx and I wasn’t even in the top 10 on the race QT lobby page,

I had been lapping consistently at 1.50.x whilst trying to improve but couldn’t

Suddenly today, managed to get into 1.49.4xx without much effort and was then lapping in the 49s consistently

Just seems quite a change to the wheels or maybe I’ve been affected more than most?

Just done some QT on my US Acc and it doesn’t feel any different (Fanatec so not Logi) optimals and pace about the same as my Main Acc times

Haven't had time to try today but I did notice on my old account, doing the new TT I was significantly off the pace. Then I discovered that my throttle was only registering 96%max input. Recalibrated that and then got gold in the next try.

That made me think, if my throttle was less than max earlier in the week. Switched accounts and checked. Nope, that one was calibrated, so I just sucked. My excuse is that I am overworked, stress and tired at the moment so not exactly on my game right now.

After my internet freak out last night I was pushed down to DRB, so tonight managed a podium and two wins. In clean air I am able to scoot away from the front and gap the field. Back to DRA now so we will see how I go next week with the big boys. I won my first race using MT though not really tested after lap 1, keeping my composure when out of rythym is my MT challenge. I did turn aa zero tow 49.3 in rave which is some half a second quicker than my best race lap with AT.
