Curious if you’ve been comparing your times in VR vs non-VR or if you’ve just stayed the course since try VR?

If so, are you finding one or the other trending faster times or consistency?
My times are much faster (relatively but significantly in VR)

I try to do bumper cam and just can’t, the perspectives are all wrong and it’s really unnatural to me know to not see the corners of the car for placement and turn in.

If I look back at a few of my videos bumper cam was grinded top 7/800s in VR half that till mid week, so initially the pace is quick but I also don’t tend to grind as much as I used to. Mostly it’s less hop in the rig do a few laps. With VR I need to set myself like I would do for a real life race and the concentration is much higher as it takes more out of me to position the car and make sure I’m hitting my braking and acceleration markers.

Curious how you and @TheNormsk have got along with the transition to VR.
I can drive in flatscreen and VR but now, flatscreen feels just so wrong and my timing and perspective is off so it takes a good couple of hours to adjust again. For me it is VR or nothing pretty much.

The first week I felt a bit woozy but not too bad as I didn't ease into it. By the end of the the first week I was running a few hours in a session. I would say that having a fan blowing at you helps a lot. For timing it took me about a month to be up to my A pace again. I found if you are to transition, set up a new account, like I did, and start GT7 all over again. This allows you to get used to it without cratering your DR in your current account. The flip side is that you might not want to use your old account after this. I barely touch TheNormsk any more. The biggest reason to start over is that it gives you the joy of trying all the boring cars again and then finding new fun in them. That is honestly my only downside to VR. I enjoying exploring all the different cars now in single player that I do a lot less sport.

Edit. I really should have read the total post. I see you already have it. Basically, I don't switch back and forth. Occasionally, I've done a TT in both flatscreen and VR. Sometimes the flatscreen will jump ahead of the VR but then by the end of the session,VR is nearly always faster. In fact I can't remember the time VR was slower.

I sport races, not having lap splits is really annoying when you end up on track by yourself. You have no reference as to how you are doing to others. That I do think is a downside. If splits were in VR I would think more sport racers would use it.

Thanks for your input on how it’s working for you. I was somewhat expecting that answer and having your feedback is appreciated. It helps because it aligns with how I’ve been feeling trying to find pace or consistency going back to bumper cam. Will likely be transitioning back into VR world lol.
I was stinking it up on Lake Louise and nab gold in VR a half hour in.
Was the first I’ve used it again in months of attempting to become bilingual in GT7.

Appreciate you taking time to share. ✌️

Trying to fix my double post.

Thanks as well for your input. Your times also seem to have steadily improved over time and I wasn’t sure how much you were jumping back and forth either.

Yeah I do mostly longer league races these days and the race information is so lacking in VR that I thought it might be worth trying flat screen but I’m nearing the end of my experiment now.

You guys adopted VR and have suck similar descriptions of how I’ve felt when using it.
I like very much like the more instinctive way we drive in VR over flat screen.

Cheers.

I have a little time off this week so may venture back into some dailies again after 6-9 months of doing zero daily races.
Hope to see some gtp folks on track.

I have had a bit of a break lately to try and see could I come back and enjoy the game again. Decided to park my main account and start afresh. Only done 12 races so far but it's been like a breath of fresh air !!
I have made to concious decision to be as fair and clean as I possibly can and enjoy it instead of getting stressed out. It's going well so far 🤞🤞🙏🙏🙏
Feel free to add me as a friend if you want 👍

A good few wins today including in the last 2 races, very clean racing by all 👍

More racing at Road Atlanta for me. Didn't bother trying to set a new time as I wanted to jump into the action.

Race 1 had me in P6, and it started well enough. On lap 4, two drivers were fighting entering the final chicane and they hit. The driver who did the hitting just slams on the breaks to let the other driver go. Unfortunately, I run directly into the rear of said car. I then come down on a driver before the start line and spin myself out. I finish P11 and not a good start for me.

Race 2 puts me in P4. An unruly Genesis driver keeps hitting me on lap 1. So, I trap them behind a car coming off of a penalty and they un-ghost as soon as they hit the rear bumper. I was proud of that one. So, I'm in P3 when P2 spins and I'm 4 or so seconds behind P1. I see them in the grass at turn 6! It looks like they disconnected as they just disappear from the replay. I take the lead the rest of the way and get a much needed win as it's been a while.

Race 3 had me P7 on the grid. I had a nice race going until I had to take a comprised line in the first chicane and that upset my car for the esses where I felt the back of the car get light and I was off the loud pedal real fast. I finish P10 and go for one last race.

My last race of the evening has me in P4. Some chaos in the esses makes me take some avoiding actions, that gives me an off track penalty. I get why I got one, but I was bumped prior to going off. I hang in P6 and more chaos in the next laps. It felt like an MX-5 Cup race with the wheel to wheel action with plenty of door banging. I end up in P2 about 4 seconds behind the leader. I got the time down to half a second in 4 laps so I was hauling around the track.

Still having fun at one of my favorite tracks. Even when I took myself out of the race, there was still plenty of good racing.

Been racing Daily B a lot the last two days. Having some good times racing unqualified from the back. Pace is pretty good for mid B at the moment, but will need to find another half second to make racing from the back worth it later in the week.

Haven't played GT7 for almost a year, so it is good to be back in the seat with the VR headset on. But I gotta say, this week I have encountered some extremely dirty drivers. The limited passing zones on Atlanta has really made for a race that gets everyones elbows up and encourages the worst out of some drivers. Watkins last week was a walk in the park compared to this.

I've gone a straight up confused myself at Road Atlanta. I am qualifying in MT so thought I'd give it a go in race, yeah not ready, just all too much for me and I am lost when out of my rythym, also had no idea the start would at the top of a gear and I shifted too late , got mobbed and pushed off the road.

So I go back to AT, now I'm screwing up all my braking points as I am entering half the corners a gear higher than I do in MT. Pushed off the road again as I am too slow. Go back to MT and was doing OK but lap 3 a known burger got me into t1 and I am too worried about gears to race properly and I leave the door open on the inside. Pushed off again.

I qualufied with 2pc of fastest time in the world but the track just annoys me, theres too much to gain and lose at the time penalty corners and theres really only one place to pass. Super annoying night.

Good starting at DF for this week. Monday I managed a QT of 1:26.9 in the RCZ (ideal '26.7). Yesterday I've tried to match it with the Supra; no way. The RCZ is catapulted out of corners while the Supra just struggles, looking at that Peugeot "disappearing at the horizon".
Final speed wise the Supra has lost the "almost 10 km/h" advantage it had at the end of straights before the new BoP and is no more worthy as meta killer like it was in Monza f.i.. I'll keep the RCZ for the rest of the week. Tonyt I'll get her a new Gurzu style livery, tomorrow I'll practice the hard tires pace and by Friday I'll be ready to get some fun out of it. I'll stick at DF just because already last week we had a "flow track" like Glen, so Road Atlanta is basically a kinda different Glen, but still flow type track.
Enjoy your racing week, guys.

Had a very close battle for a win earlier!!!! Scenes as we were 3 across the line after I was the meat in a 3 car sandwich around the final bend!

@MetalApe enjoyed our battles as well, watched the replay and I'm so glad I didn't cause you running wide, phew!

This was the three of us over the line.... Not 100% certain where the actual timing line is, but I'm (yellow and white) certainly not in the lead here!
