Tried some race C action today, it was tough racing mid pack. In 3 out of 4 races I smashed my nose into the wall.

Did some time trailing after that. I tried to focus on smooth inputs like people in this thread talk about sometimes (normally I'm a 100% throttle - 100% brake - 100% turning - 100% throttle again kind of guy). By letting the phases run into each other more smoothly I now broke into the 2:27 (:943)! Woohoo. Maybe I have some time to do some more races during the weekend.
Yeah I am the same, I am very binary with inputs and need to learn to blend. Trail braking a touch into the three bid left handers has trimmed time as you say.

I did a bit of a QT session for daily race C. Like many others I found the Jaguar better than the Vantage. However, one thing I find with this one is that the quick laps only come on the out lap, after that the time drops off sharply. This is consistent.
I haven’t found this in my sessions today 🤔

That said I haven’t been able to improve in any of the races or the Willow TT so this might just be me having not a strong day which is probably the Occam’s Razor answer.

Improved my S15's Race C QT, with a 2:28.460, and hopped into some more races.

Race 1: Started P7. A costly solo spin coming out of the first hairpin on Lap 1 put me in last place. Did a no tires undercut at the end of Lap 2. Finished P9.

Race 2: Started P6. Did a no tires undercut at the end of Lap 1. On Lap 7, an F-type lost control exiting Turn 6 and wiped me out. Finished P12 (last, after DNFs).

Race 3: Started P5. Found myself right behind three other cars and pulling away from the pack. Went for the no tires overcut at the end of Lap 7, and came out just behind the lead Aston. They stopped before the finish line, gifting me a P1. I'll take it!

Race 4: Started P5. Pulled away from the pack with four other cars. Tried the no tires overcut at the end of Lap 7 again. Didn't work out as well as last time out. Finished P5.

Race 5: Started P7. Sloppy race. On Lap 1, I got pushed into the wall exiting Turn 6, and then bonked into a spin exiting the following hairpin. Went for the no tires undercut at the end of lap 2. On Lap 6, a revenge punt unfolded in front of me at the Turn 13 hairpin, taking out most of the lead cars. All of the sudden, I'm primed to get another podium. Spent the final two laps getting bullied by two overly aggressive Astons. I may have gotten a little aggressive back. Finished P3.

Mixed bag today, as far as the quality of racing goes. Most people were pretty respectful. I can't really complain about finishing the day with a P1 and P3, though.

Oh! Watched some replays and saw that I had Mc Yavel in a few races, but neglected to say hello. Sup!

My problem is this: as a ps5 controller driver, I find it hard to put the proper amount of inputs on the triggers, because the distance between 0% and 100% input is like 1 cm.

So using no input, or all the input is clear and consistent, but makes for crude driving. Since a while I can manage 50ish %. But hitting 25 % or 75 % is very hard. So I find it scary to enter a corner while not fully braking, because in lap 1 I maybe brake 60 % but in lap 2, while trying the same, I hit 40 % and miss the apex.

But daily racing and reading this thread 'forced' me to try, and I'm hopefully slowly making progress.

About the QT reset at every 2nd lap; I can assure you, guys, Monday it wasn't like this. After hitting the '27.5 in the morning, I could improve in a series of 6 to 7 laps to '27.3 in the evening. Since Tuesday I also noticed that after the 1st lap the car wasn't "working" and i thought (like many did) that I was just off pace. Yesterday I've tried some more QT and it was even worst than Tuesday. I like to build consistancy during the week, but in this track I don't see how I can find it. They (PD) surely have changed something, cause last year in the Lambo there was no wear or overheating in QT sessions allowing series of 10 laps with no issues. So being stuck at '27.3 I'll race this weekend with no expectations whatsoever.

I feel you. After a decade with a steering wheel Im trying to get used to a controller, and I really struggle to modulate any inputs. Seems I should change my entire drivin style as I have learned to heavily rely on trail braking and power modulation. I was a mid DR A with wheel and now I struggle to keep up in DR B. Just cant use same lines and techniques with controller. I wish we could have someking of rubber elastomer mod for the triggers to have progressive feel for break/accelerator. Maybe I have to make one myself..

Another thing - I have driven most of my manufacturer races with Mustangs since GT Sport and I just cant understand how mustangs stay so uncompetitive year after year. A long time ago there was a race in Monza where gr3 Tang actually worked, but other than that it is just idiotically uncompetitive. At the moment it seems the gear ratios are a mess in both gr3 and gr4 mustangs. Dont really fit to any track. Or then the bop power restriction hits a very bad place on the power curve. If PD doesnt want to make "a muscle car" turn, please let them atleast fly on the straights as compensation.🙄

Our pace and race experience is very similar, except I start P11 to P13 with a similar QT!

No idea how anyone uses triggers, I tried and tried and tried but nope, d-pad was always faster for me. Now I am used to a wheel I cannot imagine going back to a controller.

Here's an oldie, excuse the atrocious first lap and super boring race but look at those times once I pit for mediums, the consistency is excellent.

Woah with my 2:27:9 I started on pole in a (low?) DR B lobby. P2 & P3 quali times were about 3-4 tenths off mine. I had a perfect start because my finger accidentally slipped off the handbrake button just as the red lights went off. So that was an instant 0.5 second lead. I could break away from the slip stream and had a 2 seconds lead at the end of lap 1. Never gave it away. I even had the luxury to go pitting while everyone else behind me went earlier, to avoid traffic. The lap I ran longer cost me a second, but I had a 4 second lead anyway. So a rare easy victory for me. At the last lap of the race I was just casually discussing chores with my wife. Not many races are that relaxed! Often I drive on the absolute edge of my seat.

Edit: make that 2 victories! Had to fight harder for this one. P2 & 3's quali times were on par with mine. We were switching back and forth in the 1st lap, but entering lap 2 I was P1 again. Got a 1 sec time penalty, so decided to pit earlier than I liked. 1 lap after I pitted I was back in P1 again. Had a 3 seconds lead. At the end it was a 1.5 sec lead because of my older tires.

Hello.

Daily A: Autopolis (Toyota GR86 vs Subaru BRZ)
What is the point to put two identical cars model, only with a different name, racing?
Another PD mystery. And above all, this is happening a few times now with these cars.
At least the track was a nice choice.

Daily B: Road Atlanta (Gr4)
A joke.
Many times the room was: 10 Nissan GTR, 5 Genesis G70 and my car. A different one, of course.
Sprint races with hard tires, another PD mystery.

Daily C: Deep Forest Raceway (Gr3)
A joke.
Peugeot RCZ room.

I do have a few ideas for daily races, but, who is earning money to set them, must have the ideas, not me.

Or they don't have any idea of what is racing, or they don't bother to test the combos, or they are stubborn.
Or they are all.

Let me just whish one room where players get a car by hazard/roulette. They can use their own liveries, tho.
It could be another room for it, it could be one week on/off with an existing room.
Just one more wish. A room with only GT3 road model cars. Just let us use our liveries, please.
Not all weeks, just one time every 3 months or whenever, would be nice.

In a game with hundreds of cars, why always use the same combos? There are three rooms, at least one of them use
for good entertainment.

And penalize harder the quitters, please.

Have fun,
Cheers

Honestly it’s the same car, no different to the Toyota/Honda SF cars etc

It’s more frustrating it’s the same combo

It’s frustrating but I would try if you can to look at these sort of weeks as “one make” cup type races like GTR cup or Clio Trophy etc

It sucks not to have choice but sometimes it’s better to focus on the racing rather than the hardware, sharpens the skills/consistency etc
Daily C: Deep Forest Raceway (Gr3)

Peugeot RCZ room.
So so so random this one I agree, how is it literally not anywhere this week? GR3 is better but weirder than GR4

As a controller user, I can say that you have to work at being gradual with inputs. If you have trigger effects on, I recommend turn them off, as they interfere with your natural dexterity.

That gradual movement is the key. Gradually rolling off the brakes towards the apex, and gradually applying power on exit.

btw, I finally broke my winning dry spell!!

The guys from Dstinct are all over Race B whenever I enter, so it's been a lot of podiums or top 5 finishes (and thankfully only two races where I have been punted out of the running). This time though, I got lucky.

I thought you were busy with work, washing your hair and tinkering with SAABs

I’ve managed to blow my right AC shoulder joint so sadly my racing is limited to playing in Arcade machine FFB mode at the moment until it’s decided if my collar bone will need to be surgically realigned/tethered back to the rotator bone thing.

Crap mate, hope you get well soon! Well at least you didn't get injured some place where it would affect things you like doing or are good at! Definitely won't make a difference to your driving "skills" 😂

In all seriousness mate, I wish you a speedy and full recovery and hope you are doing well! ❤️

I’m right handed….married for 20+ years…I was definitely good at “that” now….i just can’t was gonna make the stranger dead hand joke but…thankfully I’m crap at GT as well left handed 👍

🤣

It’s not skills, it’s brute force it until you go through the pain of breaking the bone, I got that gold in the TT!

You never had your car ;)

Thank you mate, it sucks just being that bit more old than you feel and feeling a bit more old than you actually are!

You must be ready/early launch now?

OMG, I have that. It happen (checks calendar) 36 years ago 💀. I had/have a type 1 and now my collar bone sits atop the joint where it should be. They recommended leaving it as such, and so it has been for 36 years.

My left side is type three after rolling my E36 M3 and very poor emergency care, my right is probably type 1/2 but I won’t know till I have the xray or see an osteopath

I have bones poking out of me almost everywhere :(

Ouch, that sounds like a ball of laughs. How long is recovery?

Tried to jump on for two races over lunch and just an absolute disaster show. Way too much argy bargy and I ended up last in both. Big whinge time, why am I sucked to the wall like a giant octopus whenever I go off? Other people rejoin in seconds and the front of my car steers TOWARDS THE FREAKING WALL despite me turning away from it then I hit reverse and try to loop around, no loop, no loop then a full 360, i lose 20 seconds every time I go off it is absolutely infuriating.

LOL, this is such a car guy way of explaining the accident. Vague details of the accident, but precise description of the car involved :D

Nightmare mate, hope it’s not ruining your hobby! It’s been a little sombre this week without you at full pelt ☹️

I’ve reverted back to racing A because I’ve little interest in B/C so it’s been strange week tbh

But I feel a little like James Bond driving around those mountains being chased by baddies trying to end me 😉

Hope you’re on the mend 🫶

Damn dude - Had no idea it was that bad of an event! Shame about the car as well - maybe a decent Saab is next with that insurance money? Would make me proud of you!

Thank you bud, I don’t know at the moment until I go for an xray, as much as it’s 3-6/10 pain there are other things in my life I need to be doing so I can wait for a while.

Dr Google thinks 2-12 weeks non surgical, but I want to speak to a chiropractor first.

It’s not a massive thing just uncomfortable and in VR you catch the slides physically a lot quicker and aggressively, or just snappier like you have to in a real car.

This is the part of the game and match making that sucks utter balls.

I have no tips for this, had 2 great races I started pole both of them but I’d rather finish .3 back in 2nd than last…

Then had 2 races in the barrier….one me, one “assisted”

It’s just not so fun when the player mentalities are where they are.

If PD just Mande some badges for “finishing” “no contact” “”8th place hero” etc

Just to be really transparent I rolled my first M3 12 years ago, that is my left clavicle injury. My right one came from doing I suspect either over “popping it” or having a few too many and my daughter challenging me to a push up contest, at 11pm with no stretching and beer/wine fuelled I smashed out a load….but at the wrong angles, I then went and did some racing and snapped it further correcting slides with more torque than I should have run (forgot to change it)

It's called shuffle mode. SHUFFLE MODE. Thanks for setting me up so I could mention it again.

"I rolled my first M3"

So how many M3's have you rolled? I heard the bus is quite safe!

1 x M3 (E36)
1 x 205 GTI

Never binned the motorbikes thankfully…

It’s a very random thing but I went in the guided bus to work for 4 years and commuted to London on the 6:00an trains for about 10 years.

Categorically can say public transport was safer than my driving back then.
