Who thinks it's very likely we see absolutely nothing for PSVR2/ PS5 Pro in this update? I'm hoping we do, but not going to be surprised if we don't!

BTW you need a bottle like this for drinks.. works great with VR. Just keep it at arms reach somewhere and you don't need to see anything to take a drink.
I'd keep open containers far away while you're in VR LOL.

I've had one of these for something like 20 years.

For the Pro at least, it's now.

I dearly hope PSVR2 improvements are here, but they only mention the ray-traced reflections in the post. (this can mean nothing much as there's also an 8K mode not mentioned, so VR still has a chance)

Can’t wait read this thread tomorrow to see what the consensus is. Fingers crossed for you PS5 Pro pioneers

translated from Japanese:
"For details about the November 2024 update, please visit the official Gran Turismo series website. Be sure to enjoy Gran Turismo 7 with the various new features and the even more exciting and visually spectacular racing experience that comes with PS5 Pro support."

Well that's cool, we'll know soon!

I had not thought about this before, but the ability to save seating position (height and distance) in the car settings (in garage or pre-race and for that to default) would be phenomenal.
This is my nr1 in GT7 i hate that in most cars iam sitting to low and to far back

PSVR2 reprojection setting. Haven't tried it yet.

PSSR on Pro setting too.

Before edit I thought PSSR was for PSVR2.. Doesn't look like it is but haven't tested.

I just tried VR in offline mode on my ps5 pro and I think it looks better. Only tried one track so far. Going to try a few more tracks. It seems like it's a little less blurry and a little smoother overall. Could be placebo though. Interested to see what others think.

Finger hovering over the BUY NOW button…

I’m most interested in draw distances if anyone can report on that.

Please and thank you 😎

I don't know what kind of trickery that 'Positional Reprojection' function is doing, but the blurry double ghost image is gone. In game, and even better, replays as well.

So I've played for a bit offline with the update on PS5 Pro. Did a few laps in VR around the Switzerland track because I found that the reprojection was always very jarring on that track. I found no real difference, maybe a bit sharper. I then did a few laps on flat screen and could see my red car reflected in the other cars with the new ray tracing, it looks cool, but really not that impressive. Then I saw the posts above about Display settings of VR Positional Reprojection and turned it on. Went back to Eiger Nordwand and can confirm it definitely makes the experience smoother. Not sure the technicalities, but my best test for the reprojection is looking sideways at the people. Before, it was like being drunk and you saw 2 of them, with the VR Positional setting on that is eliminated. I then did some laps around the Nurburg and definitely noticed the smoothness and also that there has been an increase in resolution I think. Unfortunately the VR Positional Setting introduces some jarring visual problems. Things like the tops of trees and mountains in the distance look unstable and glitchy to me. It's not completely horrible, but it needs to be fixed. Otherwise I can 100% say that it has been improved, no placebo claims this time. Just hope they iron out the visual glitches in time

Are objects still blurry in the distance? Such as the “meter markers” before turns?

Tried circuit de sarthe and the pop ins seem better in and out of vr, Also tried Laguna Seca and it's definitively better in VR. The reprojection setting introduced some glitches but I think it looks fine turned off. hopefully they can iron some of that out in the future. Oh and the in game menus look much better to me in VR.

To my eyes it seems like there has been a slight resolution bump overall, nothing major though, so everything appears a bit sharper. I checked those signs, they still seem a bit blurry. Really the worst thing to me is the visual problems with the distant trees and other things that this new setting has introduced. Tried it on several tracks they all have this shimmering instability in the distance. It's hard to ignore to be honest.

I tried music rally but still see reprojection ghosting if you look to the side.

I did not see any ray traced reflections that I could notice in VR.

The dash looks sharper.

On the two tracks I tried I got new distance records!

Display settings of VR Positional Reprojection and turned it on

Wait, I have to enable this somewhere?

Did you turn the positional reprojection setting on?

You have to go to the world map and access the settings from there.

No. I did not know that at the time. Given up for now and gone to bed. I’ll read the reports in the morning.

I read similar reports relating to the PSSR introducing artifacts and shimmering as well. We know that there were PSSR issues with VR which is why we’re not getting it yet, but this makes me wonder if this might be a fundamental issue with the Pro graphics engine/AI ?

It's a fundamental problem with upscaling in general. VR only makes it worse because there's no fixed point of view with it on, the camera is your head and your head is always moving.

I did mention this a few pages back, I had a feeling PSSR would make it look rubbish and it does seem like PSSR has made things look rubbish. Clearer when still, maybe, but still doesn't do you much good in VR.

Looking forward to see some video guides on how much better Vr2 will be with this update.

Definitely will buy a PS5 pro if we can have the same visuals on vr2 as we have on flat screen, but I would be surprised if we do.

Shoot. If it’s 75% as good as pancake mode, I’m picking one up tomorrow

This update has improved everything pretty significantly in VR on the Pro. It's not realistic to expect visual parity with the flat screen, as the VR is essentially running two versions of the game at once. I am very impressed with what they have done, minor visual glitches aside. To me, even the colours seem more vibrant now. Just drove midnight on Le Mans and it was really striking, the vibrancy, clarity and smoothness, seemed like less pop in too. But definitely wait and see some better analysis on the subject, I'm sure most would agree with me though.

Will wait for digital foundry to hopefully do some testing because - no offence - I don’t trust you guys one bit. 😂😂
But as I’ve said before - I wouldn’t trust myself.

Right now it seems to me like this patch hasn’t brought the goods for VR.
At least not €800 goods.

"Update Notice (1.54)
2. PlayStation®5 Pro
 - PlayStation®5 Pro support has been added, with the following features:
  ・ Added a mode that combines higher Image quality and frame rate performance by fully utilising the PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) for PlayStation®5 Pro;
  ・Ray-tracing for reflections has been implemented during races. (Please note 'Prioritise Ray Tracing/Resolution' must be selected in the Display settings);
  ・Support for 8K resolution;
  ・Improvements to rendering quality in VR Mode;
  ・Smoother video motion in VR Mode by utilising the VR Positional Reprojection function."

Okay so it's confirmed the last two improvements in section 2 are for VR, all I have to do now is buy a Pro when I was holding out for PS6 and of course now pay over the odds for a disc drive to use GT7 on disc!
