I use a STEELSERIES Arctis Nova 1P 7.1 Gaming Headset costing me just £40 last year. I plug them in to a controller which sits in a cradle on my rig, to the left of my wheel. So no charging, no batteries, no delay, very light, fit perfectly over the PSVR2, and they sound great. What's not to like!
What cradle? I've been looking for one that can attach to a 8020 rig.

So, since these plug in the pad/controller, I can carry the controller around and be kinda' wireless with this headset? Got a set in my Amazon cart right now.

Actually it just dawned on my that I have 3d Sony headphones but when plugged into the VR they only do 2D.

Duh, all I need to do is plug them a controller and I’ll have 3D again. Forgot about that.

To the left of my wheelbase is a clear PS5 controller holder (shown below) that can be bolted directly to the rig’s frame if you open up the screw-holes and use the correct bolts for the captive nuts. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08Y55NCWW?tag=gtplanetuk-21

The controller stays connected to the power lead most of the time, but it can be lifted off the cradle with ease. Every now and then the sound is missing when I start the PS5 from sleep, but a restart and selection of the hand controller (before then selecting the wheel) fixes that issue.

Also in the picture is a clear PSVR2holder ( https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/404215837871 ) that clips directly on
top of the PS5, which in turn stands on the floor. This keeps the PSVR2 away from trouble and prevents dust getting on the lenses.

Yep, although I only use my PS5 for GT7 whilst sitting in my rig ...until MSG Delta is released.

As far as I know, the 3D sound results from some very clever tech that only needs a stereo signal (google it), so headphones that have been optimised for 3D sound should work as intended when plugged into any sound jack, including the one on the PSVR2.

With the Radical from the daily, its nice car to drive but the new projection mode spoils it because even with no HUD which is how I drive now the windscreen edge causes the image to tear up. Such a shame.

Bonus note if you look at the cable that connects steering wheel to the dash you can see it rests glitched out of its housing mount at the dash end, but if you slam on the brakes or when going in reverse it relocates nicely. Odd one that.

Guys, any tips for recording VR2 gameplay at the best possible quality? I would like to expand my YT content a bit and record some relaxing walkarounds and AI races with some cars.

For example, couple of 1.54 patch YT reviews I watched I noticed that the replay has the GT7 logo in the right bottom corner, and the footage quality looks far better than I'm able to achieve with the in game recording feature.

Videos in question:

I tried starting the recording before driving, I tried saving recent gameplay (which should be even worse quality wise), I tried 2160p WebM, I tried 1080P MP4, I tried uploading directly to YT, I tried copying the file to USB and then transfering to the PC. And in every single case, my footage was nowhere near of that what I saw in these clips. It's like the video is compressed to a low 720p or something.

Are they using some magic tricks or capture cards or...?

If you use the GT replay rather than PS screen recording you'll get less compression.

Ultimately for the best quality you need a PC capture card and split the signal.

Others will have more understanding of all of this though.

That looks like he's using a capture card to me. I can get the VR recordings to look "ok" on youtube, and much better than original file, but it's a pain.

Have to run the file through a converter to get them from the 10 bit color space webm file the PS5 makes to an 8 bit color file that youtube likes. Then it goes through video editor to upscale to 4K, and adjust levels and saturation. Then render file, then upload that to youtube. Not something most people are going to want to do. It's not perfect like the vid in your post but it's much better than if you upload raw vid.

Recording using MP4 might eliminate one step but it'll still be all washed out because VR is in HDR.
The right capture card can do all that is necessary for a good result in real time I think.

example:

Edit- But if you have a PC (or mac) and editor that can handle 10 bit HDR webm files properly, you could just import the raw file, make your edits and cuts, and then render the file as 8 bit color SDR MP4 file. I'd need to build a new PC and buy a new editor to do that though.

I sometimes lose the AI driver when I press pause during VR race in the dailys. Am I missing something? The car just stays parked where it is with the options menu showing. Not sure if all the time I have tried it after a crash when cant find reverse so let the AI do it. Feels like there is a refusal for the AI to take over if the car is not in a good condition, fussy AI. I also had only about 5 seconds from the crash of this and without any red text warning got booted from the race saying I was disqualifed. I think this could be a bug.

Wasn't there an exploit that players were using to make their penalties shorter by pausing? Were you serving a penalty?

A question to those who upgraded from PS5 to Pro with PSVR2: how much clearer is the image? What I care the most is resolution of cars and track in the distance. It's like night and day difference or just a small improvement? I've seen some Youtube comparisions, but I don't think watching those on flat screen gives a proper information.

I can't say whether it'll be worth it to you, but it's quite a bit clearer to my eyes. The reduction of pop in of spoilers and whatnot on cars is greatly improved and the ghosting is gone, making the immersion so much better.

It's clearer in terms of less blur, because of the reprojection option, and the pop in is much much improved, drawing distance also, but do not mistake the moton clarity with the image clarity - it's still fuzzy and grainy, it's just the limitation of the lens, still far far away from the TV image sharpness/clarity :)

I concur with the two posts above, a noticeable improvement. It's definitely better, but it's not a giant leap in image quality.
To me it was worth it, but I sold old PS5 to help cover the cost. I still think the OG PS5 GT7 PSVR2 is really good though, but the reprojection didn't bother me that much on PS5 either. I get less eye strain / fatigue with PS5 pro when enabling the new reprojection, I can play longer. I'm not sure exactly why.

Thank you all for the input. To be honest, I'm not bothered by reprojection or ghosting, but low resolutions of cars in front of me sometimes kill the immersion - especially on long straights on Le Mans or Tokyo.

This is good to know, I keep moving the goggles around but it's always a compromise of track or hud quality.

With the pro, distance resolution is now at the max the PSVR2 oled panels can produce. Stars are noticebly sharper along with other stuff. Any increase in sharpness needs more pixels.

The reprojection benefits are more subtle but worth it overall as I’ve used it. I also find I now enjoy the VR replay a lot more than w the OG PS5

I'm not at my PS5P, but I'd say go to Scapes. Take a pic. Add film grain to what you normally see in PSVR2. Dial that back down to maybe +5 to +3. There's barely any screen door. I mean the rendering is clear.

Rendering in the distance is good based on what setting is enabled( and time of day. For me, I feel sun sets give me the clearest rendering.
There's tearing with PSSR On, but it eliminates the ghosting. I can see the cars while I race next to them and/or pass them and also see them much better in VR Replay.
