Image was from page 85, managed to get the text, and do a trace bitmap for the black part which I'm happy with, orange bit is a pain despite stripping layers and data point deletion.

Not a nuisance don't worry, everyone has to learn. I still do, I'm not even close to being an expert.
That's why I can't tell you for the gradients in Inkscape, I don't use it. @huff uses a software that make gradients "easily", can't remember the name.
For the bending part, you can yes. There's a "effect style" option or something like this once you created your text.

And thanks for the information, I had a look into it, managed to do something that works, so Theo Edgerton's car is nearly complete, shame we can't get the roof decal done, think you yourself said it's probably too complicated...

It's a little wonky because I traced over a logo in Paint.net so it's the correct size before I attempted to make it into an svg in Inkscape.

The logo is from the 2021 version of the Rocket Racer Lego minifigure.
