Why can't we get the low riders and other new dlc cars for offline mode? I know they released them for online I'm just curious why not offline too.

Well, you could use a Trainer and another simple modification to unlock the cars in Offline modes and spawn them. If there's a will, there's a way.

We shouldn't have to do that. Rockstar needs to quit this attitude and blatant disregard for their community.

Offline you can save before spending any significant cash and plan your perfect build, then revert your gamesave and head online to start building. Without making it available offline, you spend more money online and this increases Shark card purchases. ;)

The only trend I certainly despise from them is the recent blocking of the newest DLC cars from even being spawned in offline mode requiring another modification to unlock them, otherwise they disappear. But other than that, I never really had too big of an issue with it.

So I finally caved in and used a shark card to buy one:

If your wondering the base color is Wine Red with a Spinaker Purple pearlescent

Yes, but that isn't fair for the players. It only benefits R*, no one else.

Tbh I'm glad R* have taken this route, could you imagine if Shark cards didn't exist and they charged some £'s for EACH update.
This way it's the players who invest the most time into the game that get the rewards, those who pay get a shortcut. Anyone that doesn't fit in either of those categories (and rightly so imho) doesn't get the rewards.
It's also an attempt at keeping the playerbase high.

There's a right way to implement microtransactions into games and a wrong way. Rockstar pushes them WAY too harshly after they realized how much extra cash it generated. I didn't enjoy grinding for 30 days straight just to get a Hydra. That isn't fun. Neither is paying real money to get some in-game items. Yes, bringing new content will keep players, but charging them insane amounts is surely forcing a considerable number of them away.

I think GTAO's economy system is fine the way it is, and agree with ST19's point of view. If making large sums of money was easy, everyone would quickly own the best of everything, and get bored with the game pretty quick. The way it is now, you either put in the work(grinding), or buy shark cards. The latter is out of the question for me, so grinding it is. Sure it gets a little old sometimes, but that's just part of it.

It must not be too bad, I've bought the game twice, and been pretty steady playing it since it launched, with some breaks with other games mixed in.

Yeah, If everyone could afford Hydras etc then there would be more griefing etc too. Theres been a few vehicles I think were overpriced but overall the economy is pretty decent and R* knows that - which is why there are so vigilant against money glitches.
I actually dont think the Shark cards are being pushed that hard - its not like there are ads and pop-ups continuously throughout the game. R* certainly arent as greedy as some like Activision with cod.

Back in my day, when you got a TRIPLE A GAME, you expected regular updates. Now we're accustomed to paying for them.
Seriously, the whole "Shark Cards exist in place of update DLC" arguement is downright ridiculous. Updates, ESPECIALLY for a game such as GTA should be free.

Considering the cost of games hasn't really increased (I remember paying £40 for PS2 games) BUT the amount of work involved in development and support has increased dramatically, game companies NEED bridge the gap during the games lifespan. Think about R*s weekly wage bill. It's not ideal but it's the reality.

They made a billion dollars within the first week of sales on the original version. Think about how many more people bought the game a second, or even a third time. Then, factor in the Shark Card sales which made half a billion earlier this year. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if the next game in the series was online-only and have even more outrageous microtransactions. R* clearly doesn't give a rat's ass about singleplayer and any expansions for it when online has proven to be the most profitable.

How much do you think it cost to make GTA V? Including the cost of supporting it's entire lifespan since September 2013 till whichever year the servers are turned off AND factoring in the port from ps3/360.

I realize they need to pay programmers, artists, actors, etc, and keep servers running, but the shark cards are a pain in the ass for everyone who wants to play normally. Stop pretending like R* are the good guys for charging insane amounts for mediocre items.

At days end, R* is still a business. Their main objective is to make money. How do they make money? Produce a game. GTA V is only a medium for which they can make money. It's not like all the money earned from V is going straight into someone's pocket. They'll mostly use it for the budget for the next game, and the rest is to keep people employed. Even though the game is finished in terms of building, people still work to keep servers up (Lol), develop content, update the Social Club and support pages, customer support; the list goes on and on.

I agree that they certainly aren't making chump change, but they aren't stuffing their coats with it and laughing at the consumer while doing it.

I think a lot of people unfairly criticise them for the way GTA is. They need to profit to keep going and keep improving their products. It's not just GTA, I mean Red Dead will be next. They need to pay dividends to the shareholders and without shareholders/investors the game would't exist.

I think this is where ultimately we disagree. I honestly cannot fathom how Shark cards stop people from playing the game 'normally'. I mean there is nothing stopping any player from saving up their money and buying any item in the game without real life money being involved at any stage.
Shark cards are literally the least intrusive way of making money compared with any other game on the market at the moment.

I'm not so sure I would even know what a shark card is, if it wasn't talked about on here so much. I think I've only seen them promoted twice in game, during loading screens, when they were discounted.

I'm not hurting for in game money, and have bought anything I've wanted, making money by playing the game. No need for shark cards here.

I play "normally", but I don't subscribe to this idea that I'm owed everything I want simply because it takes too long to save up for things. The game certainly doesn't push the microtransactions, either.

IIRC, I'm sitting at just over $1 million in game. I've just hit Level 60, I own three apartments, and have maybe bought three cars. Of course, I play casually — and stopped for about a year or more — so I haven't focused on the most efficient ways of making cash. About the only thing I feel like I'm missing out on is having some of the more expensive cars for racing against other folks, since almost every race tends to allow for custom rides.

Otherwise, I really don't care. I see players with quite a lot more than me pretty regularly online. I don't expect to be where they are, when they're sitting at something over Level 200.

Like I said above, there's a handful of things I still want to buy, but my main issue is I treat GTAO like a sandbox game whenever I log on. A few hours will have passed, and I may have only done two actual missions!

They made a lot more money than they would ever spend making it. It got released on 5 platforms, with 3 editions with one being over 100 euro and I bet many people got the last gen edition just to unlock the bonus stuff. And I've seen the cards being promoted on the loading screen FAR more than twice. I even got a cheap one when they had this kind of promotion and was supposed to get an extra 15% or something but in the end I got nothing. Sent them a support ticket, they told me the promotion was "next-gen only" when they didn't even mention that on the loading screen. I have the PC version now, and nope! No extra money. What should I expect.

@Dan won't like to hear this, but I managed to nab a wingless Infernus my first time out of the gate. Oh, and that crew color sure is black...
