GTA Online Thread (Useful Links in OP)

There's a bunch of missions from Lamar, Simeon, a guy named Gerald (you steal a bunch of cocaine for him). Plus racing, parachuting, and in I think 2 weeks there will be heists. And I'd course deathmatches and last team standing.

Yeah I did some of those but they're pretty samey. Once you've done one I don't really want to keep doing them. It's not really what I was expecting and not really for me.

Is there at least a way to globally mute everyone? Every lobby I went into had a least one annoying voice, usually more than one. It's either 15 year olds who think they're gangsta, 30 year olds who thing they're old gangstas, people making stupid/weird noises or people having a normal conversation about what they did at work. That's why I don't like online gaming, It's not my idea of fun.

I believe you can change it after holding select and going to voice. If not there, go to settings I guess

The servers are glitchy at the moment. When the servers are back up, you'll get an invite through the in game phone when we're up to something. 👍

Pull up your interaction menu then go to Chat near the bottom. You can set it to no one, friends, crew, or crew + friends.
Its really handy.

Apparently. It gives me a "Network error" message when trying to do Simeon missions.

EDIT: BTW, if you're strapped for cash, just grab a vehicle take it to LS Customs and sell it.

The servers are still extremely dodgy for me, I can play in a room by myself but if I attempt to do a mission, or a race or connect with friends it has none of it and boots me back to offline.

There is a solo option in the online part. Which is what in doing now. It's also giving me a hissing fit to get anything.

Yeah, if you start the game on the offline mode, press start, scroll right to online, and I think the option is called 'invite only'. Your completely on your own.

Or hit solo session instead. But I think you can't invite in a solo session, could be wrong.

That more people want to play GTA Online than FIFA online? I doubt FIFA sells that well in the states,unlike GTA.

FGS! I left my game on because it was just stuck on a loading screen for about 10 minutes. I come back upstairs about 20 minutes later and I see an alert screen. "Kicked for being idle for too long". -.-

The Fifa servers are notoriously bad, GTA is just having some teething problems. It will be up and running as intended in a few days.

Also, does your online characters stats (stamina/stealth etc) increase the same way as the offline mode?

I doubt FIFA sells that well in the states,unlike GTA.

That's what I thought, too. But I know a TON of people that play fifa. I would imagine that the are at least 2 million copies sold(for fifa 13 at least)

They sure do, but I think it's slower than offline. My driving skill is quite high though, probably cause I do a lot of racing and general cruising.

If it freezes on the timed out message, but you hear the button sound, sign out of PSN and it takes you back to single player. Don't need to restart the game every time then.

When you are killed and you lose money, does anyone know how much you actually lose and if it just the cash you lose or do you lose the money in your bank account too?

You lose a certain percent of all of your money. Cash and bank. I think it's around 6%

I read somewhere it is 5% of your total cash, upto a maximum of $5,000.

You get a medical bill of around $1000-$2000 deducted from your bank as well as a bit of cash if you have any on you, so make sure to use the phone to deposit all your cash at any given time just in case.
Personally I think the medical bills are unnecessary and a bit steep but whatever.

$2,000 is the max you will lose (if you have under a certain amount of money it will be less) and yes it takes money from your bank account. Very annoying and makes screwing around for fun with cops an expensive hobby =/
