Good, then you're not going to be disappointed and if its really good you'll get blown away.

If the Wii U is anything to go by, then this next gen is going to suck.

Don't worry, the WiiU is the next Wii (duh ) and I doubt it'll be even remotely close techwise to the other consoles.

When you put it like that, I admit that I do also believe this to be true.

E28
Yeah, technically it's next/current-gen and the PS3/360 are last gen, but in terms of tech alone it's barely on-par with them.

It's better than them in pretty much every way, tech wise. Not by much, but it is. Although that is still nothing to do with generations.

Anyway back on topic eh fellas. If we're not going to get 'huge', expansion pack like DLC in the future what might they offer instead?

I'm hoping more loads of missions, possible vehicles including off road stuff. Maybe extra vehicle customization packs if customization is in the game itself. Weapons packs and weapon add-ons maybe? Hopefully they don't do any EA style purchaseable unlocks, those make me want to throw up. It's GTA, I want to work my way up.

I was thinking missions as well, just not on as grand a scale as the two GTA IV packs. I played through GTA IV again recently and felt like there were so many loose ends and story arcs not fully closed by the end of the game. DLC with five or six missions to clear some loose ends would work.

If there was 5-6 missions, I would hope they would be fairly lengthy. I've always enjoyed the longer missions, as they keep me involved for a way. I felt GTA IV was repetitive, while GTA III era games were more diverse in a sense (who could forget the mission in SA where you knock a dude in a porta-potty in a hole with a bull dozer and bury him cement?). I hope that comes back. Maybe character skins?

Off the DLC, I really hope some kind of check point system is going to be implemented. Playing a really long mission then suddenly failing in a difficult section, then having to redo the entire mission is really frustrating. That way, if you fail, you can pick up where you left off instantaneously.

Another thing is the ability to do a trip skip again (SA feature) if you do happen to fail a mission, so you aren't constantly driving a million miles to get to the location. The first time is fine, that's always fun, but then it gets annoying. I hope they put that back in.

One other thing is a feature from some early GTA III era games, where if you die during a mission, you have the taxi in front of the hospital you respawn at that will transport you to the start of the mission again. I always liked that feature.

If they did include that, I would hope that you could be able to buy back your weapons for a fee like in VCS if you die or get busted, as some of the others didn't do that, yet still had the taxi which made the taxi's use a bit pointless.

Think that would make the game a lot better.

Yes GTA IV did lack variety in a lot of it's missions. I still don't really know why three leaf clover is widely said to be the best mission, it's so generic and pretty dull. I also wasn't a fan of all the set pieces in the chases and how it was sometimes impossible to take someone out early because they had to perform a certain cinematic first.

I have a feeling that will be back, but not to the extent it was used in GTA IV.

I can't remember all of the missions but I thought the Lure mission was good and the one were you go for an appointment with Goldberg. I'd like to see some more assassinating missions like those, having the freedom to plan how you are going to assassinate a character and how you will make your escape is what makes the Assassin's Creed franchise great.

But this isn't Assassin's Creed.. it's GTA. However I see your point, and that might actually work kind of well if done right.

What features do you guys want to return?

Best missions ever (no particular order)?

Saint Marks Bistro
Cop Land
Keep Your Friends Close
Three Leaf Clover
Black Project
The End of the Line

Those were my favorites.

New rumor has it that DLC may feature map expansions to SF and LV.
A rumor that has no meaning behind people just day dreaming & making up BS so they can act like they're insiders.
Rockstar hasn't even told people about the multiplayer except that it will be getting the same treatment as single player, so where on earth would anyone gather a rumor that DLC is even in works?

I'd bet $20 Rockstar has not even begun any DLC work what-so-ever at this current stage in development. They're still adding/subtracting content from the game itself.
Why does everyone think Next gen is soon? Theres no real evidence
The evidence is all over the web & has been for over a year now. The PS4/Xbox 720 or whatever they will be called have been rumored, hinted, & had bits and pieces of their release revealed by insiders for months.

This is the latest, that the consoles will be ready for Holiday 2013 which is exactly where they've been predicted for months now, & that E3 2013 will be their "unveiling".

I said 3 times it's just small talk and that you shouldn't take it seriously anyways. No reliable source has stated this so I take it as crap. But since we were on the discussion I'd like to hear peoples inputs on it.

This will be interesting. PS4 and the x720 will be under pressure to be backwards compatible courtesy of gtaV, ok maybe not, but they should be.
And then there is the delicious possibility for a downloadable addon that would bring the game up to PC graphical standards on the newer console.

Just becuase there is evidence suggesting the release dates doesn't mean it will happen. Rockstar themselves said they aren't done with current gen consoles.

So is the release date December 31st? That's what it says on GameStop...

I don't know why the shops put a date there if they don't know it. I remember ages ago seeing GTA V 'Preorder now for April 2012 release' Yeah right...

Pre-orders. If you can convince some mug that you know the release date before anyone else said mug will pre-order it with you.

They just stick whatever dates are given to them. They really don't know anymore than us when you talk to actual employees.

Yeh I know they don't know any more than us, they could just put TBA. But as SimonK said, if someone see's a date and doesn't particularly follow games, they assume it's correct

I would almost consider it false advertising. If I pre-ordered from there, with a date on it that is not correct (letse say I'm an average gamer who doesn't really pay attention to dates, we just see it available online for pre-order and purchase it), and that date came, waited a few days for shipping etc, and it never arrived, couldn't I take them to court for false advertising (not that it would be worth it anyways).

Slightly off topic, but I just found this halarious article on Now Gamer with some really awkward requests from fans for GTA V lol.

GTA 5 is causing fans to ask for the weirdest of things from Rockstar, as this list shows…

Published on Dec 3, 2012

MONSTER POOPS (Source: GTAForums)

“I want to be able to take monster poops that will punish your toilet and if you flush and it gets clogged. It starts a little mini-game to try and unclog it."

FUELING CARS (Source: GTAForums)

"If it indeed appears to be a new feature in GTA V, i'd love to do it! just imagine taking the long road down south and suddenly engine stops while RHCP's Scar Tissue is playing on the radio. Awesome. I think i'll just sit back, cry and enjoy this wonderful gaming experience."

CHAINS AND WHIPS (Source: GTAForums)

"RDR had the lasso. GTA V flexible chains and whips? Just curious so see your thoughts on this. I very much expect a lasso type weapon or even the return of the lasso with the addition of handcuffs for some strange reason. I can see flexible chains considering that you can walk chop I'm guessing."

DUBSTEP - BUT NOT SKRILLEX (Source: GTAForums)

"I love dubstep shooting and blowing things up whilst listening to a dubstep or drum and bass song would make the game ****ing crazy! FTW! How diid this get on the top page? I've been thinking and skrillex is too mainstream now and he not that good."

DEAD BODIES IN THE TRUNK (Source: GTAForums)

"One thing I remember in GTA Vice city is a mission where there was a dead body in the trunk. I can't remember if GTA IV had it......But what I'm hoping for is that we can manually hide any body in the trunk of a car. Whenever we want. There's probably no reason for it, but it's something fun to do. Or store weapons in the trunk of the car."

SUBMARINES (Source: GameFAQs)

"There will be submarines in GTA 5. Mark my words. With a fully detailed ocean floor, they've gotta at least add submarines."

OVERSEAS TRAVEL (Source: GameFAQs)

"This game needs oversea travel and when I said "oversea", I mean traveling out of the country to France or something. The player should be able to buy ticket and fly on a commercial plane. It will give the player more interaction with the airport. I'm sick of getting police warrant just for getting into the airport."

STREET TYPE ANIMALS (Source: GameFAQs)

"I feel if your going to add dogs, then you gonna have to add a few more animals to be honest. Having a Dog and nothing else is going to feel weird because you will be expecting more wildfire because of them. I was think adding more street type animals like foxes, pigeons, blackbirds, cats, rat and mice. But then agian RDR made use of animals, they actually had a part to play in the game. I wouldn't know the need for any animals anyway. Apart from little mini mess around mission or achievements."

MEXICAN RADIO STATION (Source: GameFAQs)

"I can't believe there's yet to be a Mexican station in a GTA game. They've done Italian opera, reggae, Cuban jazz, reggaeton, bollywood, Eastern European pop, etc... The majority of LA is Hispanic and most of them are of Mexican descent. So I expect some mariachi/ranchera station and maybe a station playing narcocorriodos/norteno. Heck a Latin rock station would be insane with Santana, Los Lobos, Los Lonely Boys, etc..."
