GTDesigned: A Community Vision GT Project

We'll going to add a series of poll for 3 days, for now the layout

  • Total voters
    116
  • Poll closed .
I love it! But I think I would like the winger seperate from the car since it's supposed to have active aerodynamics.

Also, in the front of the car, the middle section is supposed to be further back than the rest.

Can you sketch the wing for me?

I'll see what I can do about the front.

Here's my first sketch. For now, I only have a visual idea in my head. Keep in mind I have no drawing talent and this is all I can express for now. In my next sketch, I aim to add more curves to the car, wheels, and maybe add a simple downforce mechanism.

As for now, I don't have a name for it yet.

Looks very cool ! Only thing I mis is a small decent scoop on the roof.

And to be a little bit picky, I think the windshield is too much shaped, it reminds me of the Lamborghini Cara in the late 90's. Maybe it will look better to divide the front windshield, roof and back windshield in 3 seperate parts and make there a kind of island for the scoop. The 2 pieces of glass on the roof could be detachable like a semi-targa model, the Nissan 100nx for example :)

Edit :

I lke the front though, really nice shaped nose, a cool design that reminds me of the Gillet Vertigo blended with the enormous mouth of a Morgan V8 (that cross-eyed thing).

Edit 2 :

When I looked to your design again, the front, I saw the reflection on the right side of the car (for us as viewers on the left side) that could probably a nice shape for the headlights. This is a 2 minute job in MS Paint :D

The render looks great so far, but I tgink the car needs to be stretched out a bit more. It looks just a tad too short in my opinion.

@Ryk wait, you do pixelcars? I do too!

@eran0004 Sorry, I've been "busy", but you could combine elements from the Mclaren P1, Nissan GT-R, and your imagination going beserk, and I think we've got a design for a wing! Sorry, I couldn't sketch one, but if you want I can. I want the wing to be seperate from the body, however.

I really want to vote for titleguys car design, though i feel, eran should be lead designer.. I need 2 votes.

[EDIT]

I've decided to change my vote to @titleguy1 s design. out of the two designs i prefer titleguys, but.. I want @eran0004 to be the lead designer/modeler, because without his work on the design, i doubt i'd be able to get a clear vision of what titleguy was trying to achieve. I'll say it again:

I need two votes!

[EDIT 2]

Well, as the poll nears it's end, it appears the car we're going with is the @787bcgr car.
I have to say (no offence intended 787), i'm not overly keen on the design, but the voters seem to love it.
For me, i'm struggling to understand the overall design as it appears many things contradict (especially around the front area). Having said that, i'm sure one of our 3D modelers can make more sense of it and render up a great model of it.

I hope nobody minds but i did do a little sketch of it (minus the lined paper), so i could better understand the form of the design, but it looks no better than the original sketch to be honest.
I also made a few tiny alterations to it (again, hope nobody minds).

[EDIT 3]

I also took the liberty (hope you guys don't mind), of doing a little sketch of the excellent (imo) design of @titleguy1 design/ @eran0004 3D model. I know the rest of the designs are going to be stillborn, but i'm still curious to see what this design in particular will end up looking like once it's completed. There's very little change in my unfinished and unrefined sketch (just a bit more rounded i suppose) at the moment as you'll see, (top pic is the most recent, bottom one was just a practice sketch).

I haven't put on any headlights as yet, though i think both suggestions work really well. Also added a roof scoop (as suggested by @YukinoSuzuka) every vehicle in the world looks better with a roof scoop.. be it Bus, Train, Bulldozer, car or Pick-up truck.

[EDIT 4]

Here's a few pics of the real 'TOM's Angel TO1' that @Ryk posted. Awesome little car! I think i want one. 👍

Now after the lead designer is chosen it's time to make the final concept, for now let's do some sketches of all 20 designs (including @legacyMACHINE 's cause it's not listed in the poll) combined cause nobody's design will be neglected . @787bcgr you lead the way

@Nessy I totally agree with you that @eran0004 should be the lead designer, since he has the most skills at the whole Blender and stuff. You're very good at drawing, so you could come up with some concept sketches. I think that we could come up with a few extra designs for things. I'll post ideas a little later.

EDIT: Here are some designs I came up with.

EDIT #2: Just to recap, I'll show the original 2 drawings of the car.

Also, @eran0004, if you're gonna keep modelling my car, I think that the front should be sharper. Like, where the bottom of the hood meets the vent, that should be pointy and sharp, not rounded.

Well, like Nessy said, he's not keen with the design of Titleguys design and I think I will follow him. Not because I'm a fan of his drawing skills, I think we all know Titleguy's design, it's called the Autobacs Garaiya GT300 '08. Somewhere sharper and different, but it's not new from my point of view.

Not to be rude againt Titleguy, I like his point of view of a low small racer, like a new version of the Autozam 'super' AZ-1 was someday, but this design, it's not it. Sorry.

But that's why I like his, Nessy, drawings so much. It's new, it's different as we've seen so far. Sorry to say, but I think that designer poll is not the leading 'thing' we have to follow. We must do something new and ground braking to get at least some attention from outside GTplanet. I like the idea we 'could' get in granTurismo with our Community VGT and we have to do everything to get the most attention and views to get that chance. And that's why I'm with Eran & Nessy ; They should be the lead-designers together ! :D. Nessy for the 2d arts and visuals, Eran for the translation into the 3D rendering world, I think that's the strongest combination.

Lurker here...

The 2 designs that I see slowly shaping up here, Nessy's and TitleGuy/Eran, are really exciting.
I'm having a hard time trying to choose which one I'd like to see on my Playstation (unless I could get both).

Just a small comment from an outsider, though. VGT means your imagination can run wild. So while the alternative is an awesome work, I would maybe go for Nessy's pod thingy because it's more radical... Feel free to ignore me though! :D (since you have already voted)

Keep up, even if they don't say anything, I'm sure a lot of us are eager to see you succeed!

*Cough, cough* @Nessy actually said he preferred my design over the others...

I actually, honestly, did not take any inspiration from the Autobacs Garaiya. If anything, I think @787bcgr's design looks much more like it, or like a modern version.

But, hey, everyone has an opinion, and it's never wrong, but never right. And I respect your opinion, but people could still make alterations to my car including you and still enjoy it. There's always some guy who disagrees, but at least you're reasonable about it.

Amazing renditions. Been busy with the family and I need to catch up with the thread.

Been thinking about the wheel design and did a bit of looking into it. Came across a reference from Road and Track that talked about the SLR 19" rims creating downforce/front stability.

The Mercedes folks had fitted this SLR with 18-in. winter wheels thought to create less drag than the stock 19-in. ones, which have special blade-shape spokes that work as fans to extract air from under the car for added downforce. The 18s, they presumed, would have less drag because the car wouldn't be getting sucked closer to the ground. However, this means the nose of the car on 18s is likely higher, creating that feeling Steve noticed of air getting stuffed under the nose of the car.
