I like the project name 'Manx'. đź‘Ť

I got a bit curious to see how @787bcgr's design would look if it were slightly better rendered.

The original design/sketch:

And here's my neatened up version:

As you can see, iv'e altered it slightly for a more realistic/ believable look (ie: wheel clearance for suspension etc etc). I hope i haven't lost too much of the design language in my translation.

And here's the special edition 'Clown car version'..

 Just kidding. I thought some of you may have been interested in how i do my drawings. I'm basically using an old version of 'Photoshop', along with my 'Wacom Intuous 4' graphics tablet.
After iv'e done some basic line work, i draw out a shape then fill it with a contrasting colour. The more surfaces in a design, the harder it becomes to differentiate between them though, and 787's design has a lot of surfaces, hence the clown coloured car.

This is a close to finished version of it, (unnecessary at this stage in the project, i know.. but just got carried away).
There's still a bit to finish on it, but it's starting to look more and more like a mini McLaren P1, and personally, i'm not too pleased that it does. I know iv'e made a few changes from the original sketch, but i was hoping our VGT would look a bit more concepty than it is here.

I like the white one it looks very good with the blue lights !

What about 3d printing? It would find a way into the automotive industry and there are actually a couple of 'studio's' making their own cars with 3d printers as much is possible. I don't see that happen, but maybe something else, would be very interesting, changeable interior and exterior parts.

Let's say 'we', the community of GT planet, won't vote for 1 VGT design, but for maybe... 6 ?

Like the Smart, you was able to change your body panels very easily, you only need somebody or some company to change your Smart and in 1 day it was possible to drive sway with a whole other Smart you've had from the beginning. My idea isn't new or original (the new Daihatsu Copen has this idea too), as far you can change the looks of your car, what is new, is the fact they are 3d printed, in any color you like and from what I believe is possible on a smaller scale nowadays, in many kind of materials you like, also in wood and metals. This is a vision and we can go nuts. So everything is possible :D

That looks awesome! Also, the Clown car livery reminds me of the Pompidou sculptures in Paris and the Oreca Matmut Peugeot 908 :)

Maybe I remember it wrong, but wasn't there a similar idea with the Nissan IDx concepts? I like the idea, maybe an option could be transluscent panels of acrylic glass?

I wouldn't mind something with a rotary engine coupled with a KERS (everything's spinning) like setup and a capacitor; MR layout. Heat would be the main battle.

I love the ManX name!
I think Jeremy Clarkson would make a joke about the name like:
"There is a reason why it is called ManX, it's shorter for a man's ex-wife.It means she is a mean bi***!"

I really think that is a great idea, a stroke of genius even. đź‘Ť

Let's dream for a minute and suppose the GTP VGT got the green light, and made it into the game.. Wouldn't it be cool if when purchasing/acquiring the car, it gives you the option of choosing between: Standard coupe body style.. Barchetta version (no roof).. Opened wheel racer (like the Ariel Atom etc etc).. or full-on Le mans style Aero version.

You could even choose which style, by just using the Body modification shop (in game). It may only be 4 different options, but i feel it would be enough, especially when you consider that different versions would have different affects on handling and performance. ie: weight difference, downforce etc etc.

Plus the added bonus for us (the project participants), is that it'll allow us more freedom in terms of body design.. Giving us 4 different body variations (all using the same chassis/framework) will/should allow more design input from the design team.

:D

I agree! So what we should develop then (if we all agree to do this) is some kind of frame, right?

Yes (providing we all agree to the idea), we'd need some kind of frame that can accommodate/support all 4 body styles. (shouldn't be too hard hopefully)

This is a great idea. This is taking the idea of the Citroen C3 Pluriel to a whole new level!
It also allows for @Nessy 's pod design to resurface! Obviously, if reusing the same frame, it'd be bigger than at first anticipated but you could go for a 2-seater with the passenger behind the driver, in a higher position, on top of the engine! :D
EDIT: not really, no...

That would be nice but I don't think they would let us do that.

We'd have to dream a lot. And actually remember the entire dream. :D

I love your idea. And I think they would just make them seperate cars in the dealership if they did that. :)

It's @YukinoSuzuka's idea, iv'e just elaborated on it slightly.

If i remember correctly, isn't there a similar option (albeit only 1) with the 'KTM' in GT6 already. can someone confirm?
I think it's not a million miles away from what's being suggested here. :)

[EDIT]

The Stratos also has a noticeable body mod, (imo) with the change of that front bumper.
I think 1 chassis/frame/ different body panels is still quite a plausible idea.

Maybe someone can design/sketch some chassis ideas that would fit in the kei/citycar dimensions. The design where @eran0004 now is working on, could be the first design/model.

The possibility to change body panels but without the need to change them all, would be the most challenging part. So you can drive with the front of design A, the rear of model B and interior of model C. A kind of cannopy/detachable roof and you've a car with hundreds of 'faces' if we add another Model (D) to the this idea.

The door panels there should be the cross section of 2 different styles, but like @Nessy said, maybe a more naked drive like the Atom could also be possible, just 2 different designs at the front and at the rear, but without door panels.

View attachment 289367 I'm having some difficulties coming up with a rear design and this is what I have so far. Any suggestions?

Those little triangular(?) tail lights feel somewhat like a production model instead of an exciting concept car design.

Other than the tail lights, the rest of the rear is pretty nice for a city car, it doesn't look like a botched transplant. It has a muscular yet graceful feel.

The idea I was going for was having the tail lights wrap around the exhaust pipes. But yea, they do seem generic.
