GTDesigned: A Community Vision GT Project

We'll going to add a series of poll for 3 days, for now the layout

  • Total voters
    116
  • Poll closed .
I must admit I wasn't to keen on the idea of a city car at first.

But seeing Nessy's latest sketch, I'm starting to think this could be really cool. I can even imagine hearing that raspy 2 stroke going through the gears as I look at that sketch.

Of course this is just me saying that I hope the polls don't change too much now.

Also I really like some of the stuff @ironman44321 mentioned; electric turbo anyone? and how about cameras not just for the rear, but the sides as well?

I like the side cam idea to compensate the a-pillar blind spot. If it's possible we should make the interior side of the a-pillar as a screen and view what the cam see

I know this isn't very useful, but I got bored so decided to make a few small changes to this design by Nessy. Here's my version, looking somewhat similar.

I only made small changes but they include a slightly narrower rear end, a decluttered front end, single head lights, and an LMP style fin. Tell me what you think!

Just a small question, to anybody...

We are aiming for a kei/citycar sized vehicle. Probably a streetlegal racecar, 1 or 2 persons and that's it. Well, it's normal to sketch & dessign a car with normal proportions, but with a single seater set up, or jetfighter setup we can call it, we could reduce airflow to seek inspiration in cars like the VW lx-1 , isn't it?

An older example I like, is a concept car from Suzuki, the S-ride. I think they missed a great opportunity here they didn't worked this concept out to a possible production model.

I like the concept by it's concept, a smaller car (in width) and more like a cockpit experience from a jet fighter, you can go through corners by the width you feel you are... like a kajak in a small creek.

The Renault Twizy is anther car like this. It will also allow for the aero design that @Nessy came up with. I think a single seat design will be the way forward.

Our thread is slowing down.

I agree, and I think I know why. Everyone (me included) is throwing around so many (good) ideas that we never really have a chance to decide on anything. This means that no decisions are made, as well as some good ideas being lost in the huge number of posts. Really, we need to stick with the winning design and develop it slowly in an orderly way. I know this is what we are trying to do, but I think we are focusing on certain aspects too soon, before we have decided on the fundamentals.

We are, in a way sticking to the winning design, but we have been developing it way too fast for us to even plan out other things for to have (weight, interior, the inside stuff). On top of that, we have been attempting to find ways to add in everyone else's design within the winning design, and that can come off with many iterations.

We should probably slow down the pace, and mainly focus on specific sections first. Prioritize.

Agreed that's the sort of thing I was getting at. All the ideas are great however I think we should follow the design plan, and try to come up with ideas suitable for the next poll. This will allow us to work more efficiently rather than having to work in the way we are doing now.

One of our problem is indeed, losing ideas in the posts, i'm struggling to come up with an idea to contain all ideas in one place. One of my idea is to create another thread forbrespective ideas : designs, components, etc. But we can't flood this forum with a lot of our threads. Should i make a blog or something just to save the ideas from getting burried by other posts while keeping the general discussions here?

I think the simplest option would be for everyone to hold back design's for things such as materials etc. until they are needed. However it would be great if we could have something documenting all of the ideas.

You can, but that would result in some people not really willing to check it out namely because some people don't like going back and forth from one site to another.

Perhaps when it comes to ideas, we could use process of elimination via polls?

The most viable option would be another thread but we would probably have to ask the mods first so that we don't end up flooding the website.

I propose we make the V4 cam-less. It'll be smaller, more powerful, and more efficient, due to being able to control the valves independently. It allow us to adjust the power band more precisely as well.

Two stroke engines actually don't have valves. The inlet for fuel/air and the exhaust outlet are pretty much just holes in the cylinders themselves. Refer to the image below.

The one I'm suggesting is a little bit different, but it still doesn't have valves.

But I think that's enough engine talk for now, I know the powers that be would like to focus the thread to try and make some more progress so I think we should let them decide what gets worked on in what order.

Like I said I'll recount. A couple of them were very close

Alright, I'm sure we're all interested to hear the results :)

Just make a thread purely for posting ideas, and not normal posts. People post pictures and car design input only, that will make the thread more direct and not one huge conversation that goes in every direction

Well I'm glad I took the time to set the car up in GT6, logged into the community website, copied the pic. to photobucket, and then post it here.
I thought that considering the Garaiya is very close to K-car size and has very similar styling to the drawings I've seen here, that it would be an interesting discussion point.
Maybe gets some styling ideas, or avoid other styling ideas, etc etc.

I do apologise if someone has already mentioned it in the last 50 pages and I missed it.
I'll leave you to your community project in peace.

I'm not saying leave, definitely not.

What I'm saying is you could have explained straight away rather than this:

Yep.
Modelled it, submitted it, and it's in. 👍

Either that or it's an Autobacs Garaiya '02. :)

When asked why you posted the photo.

I too think we need separate threads. One for aesthetic/design (pics and discussion), and another for component/engineering (pics and general discussion). 2 threads are all i think we need really.

@YukinoSuzuka I'd completely forgot about the Suzuki S-ride. That thing is awesome.
