GTDesigned: A Community Vision GT Project

We'll going to add a series of poll for 3 days, for now the layout

  • Total voters
    116
  • Poll closed .
how about a 1.5 litre V16 with a Supercharger. Pistons the size of egg cups and the sound like the devil's dishwasher. That sounded pretty good...

I'd love for Gordon Murray and Kazunori-san to hear about this and "make it happen" with an all new Eco-TVR.

Just so long as we don't have any Star Wars themed stuff with an Astromech droid slot and the Sat Nav speaking in Bocce.

Hope all designers in this thread keep on dreaming.

Good day gentlemans, thanks to everyone for still showing some interest in this project.

We haven't got any license from PD yet, i don't know what you guys think but I think the best way to increase our chance of getting it is to show our interest as frequent as possible, keep this threads busy with tech talk, plan talk etc. As serious as possible.

For now don't think about the resources, i'm sure we'll figure that out, engineers? I'm sure some of us know one or maybe one of us here is an engineer himself, funding? If it's really needed i don't mind If we use crowdfunding as long as it's for the great of our community project. @Jordan already showing some interest in this project, i'm pretty sure we'll get full support from the staff here if this project becomes official, the most important is we need to get that license first.

So... Tell us, what's your idea?

Well i ain't no engineer.:boggled:

But on the crowdfunding matter, i don't know.
Take this example, if people give us money willingly for our cause, then they
expect that they will get what they paid for.At that point, that could be exactly the car we make or something completely different. Therefore crowdfunding is a delicate solution.
You get what you need, but end up doing something else with it.:banghead:

Well, that's exactly I believe the best way t do it... Ofcourse you need the resource (the public) to make it an 'community' car. But too much influence and it will kill the project either way.

I don't see a problem in choosing our own favourite size/platform for our VGT, like the kei-car sized supercar. I like also the idea to do something fresh, but what? As long as the idea is to get an awesomeshaped vehicle with an awesome sounding engine with all the exterior & interior parts/designs to be chosen by the bigger audience (not only GTplanet, but all the Gt-focussed-communities we could find), we have our community based VGT.

All the exterior and interior designs could be choosen by the audience with a multi-choise poll with every detail in multiple examples of designs, made by us or clear examples from different kind of cars with cool details on them, and it isn't necesarry to get examples of only supercars and coupes.. Some ordinary city cars have nice details too.

Example - Taillights (I'm a big fan of originally and good shaped taillights ) :sly:

Q34 ; Taillights, if you had the end decision to choose the right style for the taillights of our VGT, what will it look like?

content_citroen-c4-picasso-light.jpg

A : Citroen DS3 // Mirrored - repititive taillights like a tunnel.

alfaromeo_09mito3doorhatchback_1b_taillight_nb-298.jpg

B : Alfa Romeo Mito // Round taillights like so many others, possibly with a cool and nice shaped housing with it.

C : BMW i8 // LED-art in every detail. Organic shaped taillights that follows the edges and lines of the tail of the car. Mention the indicator above the red taillight.. amazingly well shaped !!

D: Something completly new I've never seen before !

And with this.. we've so many details and parts to choose our favourites where the designers have to deal with it to make their interpretation of the end result in the poll !

With some crowdfunding we could hire a proffesional design studio that makes the top favourites in the poll into realism, the end product, for all of us. A happy few will get sneak previews, because I hate the idea to discuss this VGT from the front to the rear end in every detail...

It would be nice if we could actually make the 1:1 model of our design any have some proffesional if we got some funding but let's see.

I like the idea of originality, it would be nice if we have some poll to choose the best headlights, taillights etc. But not too much so it wouldn't look like a messy car with some random bits sticked on it but good enough for us to say "this is the parts that you should use and show us how you incorporate those elements on your design" at least good enough to give some flexibility to everyone that participate in the design competition.

Oh damn, i just got a crazy idea!
How about hologram head and tail lights?
So basically we make the car have an empty space where the lights are,
and put those hologram projectors. Then we program what the headlights woul look like.

In other words, you could have like eyebrow shape floating in mid-air while casting light in front.

Well, it's not impossible to make something like that. Maybe I need to pickup an old drawing in Sketchup, I had the same idea a few years ago.. Hopefully it won't take too long to show it here..

*starts up SU again...

Damn, those Sonata tail lights are the bomb.

GTP logo headlight?
You mean the round globe with the dots?
Sure why not, it would look interesting.

LosCules24SFA - Just tail lights or tail and head lights competition?
I'm in!

You can do both but it'll be a separate entry, but first we need to know if the others are interested or not since it wouldn't be fun if it's just a two of us.

Guys what do you think?

I'm not sure.

If we do a taillight competition, that means that there's a chance that the body could end up being strange or awkward due to having to conform with the taillight design.

About the headlights with GTP-logo inspired design, I'm in, for the taillights I'm worried it would become a mess, You need several kind of lighting if you want to make it a sports/streetcar. For the headlights you won't be restricted that much and can play a bit with the reflectors, headlights and led's.

Well, first time around, we just blew in a bunch of pictures together. Instead, I think we should make one where a little bit of everything goes in; A competition for body style, headlights, taillights, front fascia, rear fascia, wheels, etc.

That way, we can easily create a car that satisfies everyone.
