Random question....

Does anyone here play Spin Tires?

Your stuck in the mud and need help getting out don't you.
I may look at it next month, bit hard up for money right now as the car needed fixing.

Assetto Corsa good and should be getting better, I just can't feel the brakes in it like you can in GT.
Also not staight forward as you need to down load tracks and cars.
Think this an early look at the game but not a bad vid of the game.

I have a T500, cost me about £250 on ebay and it is very very good, I don't have a shifter though I just use the paddles.

Am right the gear padals not fixed to the wheel, so they don't spin round with the wheel like on the G27?

Just bear in mind that although the T500 does work on the PS4 it isn't officially supported and is lacking the options/share buttons.

The current best wheel that works on a PS4 is a Thrustmaster T300, but things start to get very expensive if you want a gear shifter and 3-pedal set-up for the proper sim experience.

Looking forward, if you want a wheel that will work with the PS4 too, then you are better off waiting a while until there are more options available.

Does the wheel change things?.... Yes and no. On SS tyres, the gain in lap times is really tiny, I could match my lap times on a pad. but here's the thing, since I purchased the steering wheel I have only used the pad once to play GT6. The wheel gives an overall nicer experience and is more fun/challenging.

Please don't expect to buy a wheel and be as quick as you are with a pad. The wheel takes time to learn and regardless of what anyone may say, it isn't 'lifelike' it's meerly an input device and it won't feel like driving a proper car. It will take you probably 2 weeks to get decent with using a wheel, to begin with you will spin rwd cars and become frustrated, but you need to be gentle and stick with it.

Tuning can be different with the wheel. At least on GT6 it is.

So, yes, get a wheel, but possibly wait a while first and see what happens with the PS4 compatibility.

Hmm, I prefer the shifter paddles to rotate with the wheel, as do lots of others.

The job is to take loads of lumber to the sawmill without getting stuck, running out of fuel or wrecking your vehicle. The terrain is really rather difficult and using hardcore mode makes it super hard to complete a map by yourself.

I did a couple of maps yesterday on 'casual' mode (easy) while on multiplayer and I was still finding it really difficult. The other people pretty much did most of the work. :embarrassed:

There is a pre-release tech demo available but it's very basic. Just driving around an open map with a few obstacles. The actual game has got more options. The most awkward part which you might not like is the camera, it's an 'over the shoulder' viewpoint that you can rotate freely but it's a bit clumsy. http://www.spintires.com/

I'm not going to get Assetto Corsa because Project Cars is coming soon and that should be a good game too. I'm saving up for Project Cars now. 👍

Yeah, they are fixed and do not rotate with the wheel, they are quite large though so I can reach them even with my hands at 12 and 6 in a turn.

I got my pro stand for Christmas, it made a huge difference :) And I find that my driving becoms more precise when I use the stik shift
Then when I use the gear padals

Dose using a wheel make that much of a difference to tuning???

Do those on wheels think there driving is better from when they had controllers???

Looking at buying a wheel any advise????
actual tuning of a car? Not really. But a wheel is so much more fun when you get the hang of it. 👍

Which wheel. well, it depends on your pocket really and what your doing in the future. After doing ok in Academy on a pad etc, I thought wonder where i'd be with a wheel. Family chipped in and my Christmas present was a G27. It's nice, but lately it just falls apart in your hands. Also, seeing as how the G27/DFGT aren't compatible with PS4/GT7, no point. If you want something good for now, i'd pick up a second hand DFGT

I ordered a wheel from Argos on the 3rd. Guess what? Still not here.
Mine was crazy. Just before Christmas (2 weeks before) mine was ordered. It was meant to arrive at Christmas eve the most.

It never came by new year.

Ordered a new one after the company couldn't find the old one, they refunded it.

Got the new wheel few weeks later. Another week later. The old one came through. great service eh lol

remember the little thingy I said about before  the force feedback motor (can't remember what it's called) made the screws come out so the wheel was off centre? sometimes happens again, despite running the wheel with as low force feedback as possible

And I've seen guys with 1st degree burns on their hands. Of course it's a wealthy man problem as it only occurs on high end alcantara wheels (Fanatec...). Plus the sweat awfully wears the alcantara out and it looks ugly after few weeks/months.
Think about it next time you see a guy wearing gloves when simracing, it's not only a weirdo fantasy.
