Yeah I know I'll be locked in, I like one track so I can test the 3 cars and also sort of be quick.
I need to test a track to know it sort of thing, or I be driving your lines and there never that good lol.

Not good but faster than yours ;)

Yeah 1 track is fine by me as well, any ideas which one you would like?

I was bored yesterday so I had a solo test in the Clio. I'm not 100% confident with it yet, but either it's getting better or I am. My normal way of tuning an FF doesn't work on this car, I've had to go back to stock again and start from fresh.

I ran GVE (forward) and Laguna because I knew what times would be competitive. I got decent lap times (still can't match the Mini), but the car felt a little nicer to drive, especially on the brakes. I think that the racing brakes coupled with no abs is hard work to control, so I've been experimenting mostly with that.

Looking forward to Thursday. :)

Renault is VERY quick when you get it right at Laguna!

Yep, it is potentially quick. I just find it awkward to drive and there is a very small window of opportunity to get that perfect lap in. I'll be going for consistency rather than speed though, I tried getting the fastest lap during the endurance race, but that's when mistakes started to creep in. :indiff: Slow and steady wins the race.....just don't run out of fuel, otherwise you'll be going a bit too slow. :P

So, who is going to run RBR before Thursday?

Glad you are getting to grips with it mate, although its not good news for anyone else in the series!

And at GVE right @Ian_83 ;)

sign me up, ill be in the Honda.

Since #47 is taken ill go with #3

Glad to have you mate, welcome to the series :)

Are you available to race at 7PM BST (GMT + 1) as that is when this series runs?

Also, when you get a chance if you could send me a list of 8 tracks you would like to run on in order of preference that would be great, you can see the current votes in the OP :D

I have no track prefference tbh, ill just go with what gets voted.

the race time is 5am here which is very early but I should be able to do.

Fair enough, votes aren't mandatory, if you do think of anything you would like to run, even if its just one or two then let me know and I will update the standings!

5 AM is dedication, I look forward to racing with you, will you be at Thursdays test?

@mustafur - Not attending.

Edit: @mustafur, I will need you to send me a friend request and join the GTOR club when you get a chance.

If anyone who knows they won't be able to attend could let me know that would be very helpful.

I am planning to do a short drivers briefing before each event to discuss any track specific issues and areas to watch out for, these will be more detailed during the main season as I will have been testing on the tracks much more recently so will be able to give more detailed information but to give you an idea of how they are likely to go here is a short one for RBR:

Drivers Briefing - Red Bull Ring

The main areas to be mindful of track limits are the first and last 2 corners, please be careful not to gain an advantage if you run wide at either area and if you take a position please pull well off the racing line and give the position back.

Even if you are not taking a position by doing this you could be reducing your laptimes so anyone seen to be consistently running wide without any obvious reason (back stepped out, lock up etc) and not lifting off to an appropriate level will be investigated by the stewards and appropriate action will be taken.

Please be careful in the braking zone heading into Turn 3, late moves are permitted as is block passing but if you make contact by forcing your car up the inside with a late braking maneuver you should give the position back as soon as is safe.

As this is the final test before the main event start we will be running a full meeting simulation including stewarding and points. If there are any incidents that you feel merit investigation please PM myself or @Doomstorm16 on GTP to allow us to investigate. No action taken from this test will affect the season proper but it will be an opportunity for everyone to learn what is and isn't appropriate, what sort of incidents stewards will be looking into and what sort of punishments might be involved following on track incidents.

As I said above driver briefings during the main series will be more detailed and more accurate as they won't be done from memory they will be done following actual tests.

In addition to the above....

Be careful when entering the pits at this track, the pit entry is slightly awkward and if the car isn't exactly in the middle of the pit entry lane you may suffer a drive through. ;) If you get a drive through, you will still need to pit again as it won't count as a pit stop.

^^^This has happened before to a couple of guys.

Ahh yes thank you, I am woefully under prepared for this, I don't think I have ever pitted at Red Bull!

I do enjoy the track though!

Practice it before the race. ;) Going in too quickly will push you slightly wide as the entrance is just after a bend and then you won't be perfectly in the centre of the pit entry. It's easy once you know to be careful.

The track can actually provide some decent racing, just the usual divebombs to watch out for, especially turn 1, 3 and 4.

I'll be online this afternoon for some pre-race testing if anyone is up for it?

RBR should be fun, loads of straights for good drafting and a technical section at the end of the lap. Usually it does end up being a bit of a draft fest, but we'll see how it goes tonight. Hopefully we'll get some great races and see a couple of different winners emerge at the end of it. 👍

Afternoon is a no go for me as I will be at work (leaving early to play GT6 is frowned upon unfortunately) I will however get the lobby open as early as I can when I get home, I would expect this to be shortly after 6 :)

For tonights test @Ian_83 will be fulfilling the role of third steward, the ensures that 3 of the 4 teams on the grid have a steward involved and brings a lot of stewarding and race experience to tonights decisions, thanks mate 👍

If everyone else tries to ensure that all the stewards have a quiet night by keeping the racing clean and fair that would be great! :)

That's terrible. :( Do they not appreciate how important GT6 is? :grumpy:

I'd find a new job mate.

I think that might be a tad extreme ;)

MINI 1:42.985
Alfa 1:43.096
Honda 1:43.223
Renault 1:44.546

Renault seems bad news round RB!
From my tests so far I think the Alfa maybe the better car, not sure I could find more out of the Mini.
Started testing with the Fit a high 43 lap, got the Mini out 2rd lap bangs in a 1:42.985!
Tried getting more out the Mini just could not beat that time, next the Afla.
Had to change setting something just not right, so quick fix banging in low 43 all the time.
But I got a bad feeling the Afla got a lot more to give.....
Next back in to the Honda little play with the settings, still not a 100% happy with it but low 43s.
Now the Clio what the hell, maybe I've forgot how to drive it?

Going round long fast bends it's got over steer that then turns in to under steer!
It's a little like Afla can do this bend at 87, Renault 71 as it's not sure if to lose the front or rear?

Small note am running room on normal tyre wear.

Ian come on test room open

Hmm, that time difference is a little worrying although it does sound as if the 1.5 seconds you are losing is all in one corner in the Clio, we will see how tonight goes because in theory Red Bull should produce similar results to GVE where the cars were almost identical as far as I could tell.

The Renault is a bit fat too, so it could be loosing time down the straights too.

Keep going @CptMadBean. I'll be online sometime after 2:30, I've got a few things to do before then.

Perhaps although I was seeing almost identical top speeds at GVE last week, it sounds odd!

Although losing 16MPH in one corner just before a half decent straight would probably be around 1.5 seconds, not sure.

If there is a problem identified tonight at least I (we) have a long weekend to identify any problems and get the balancing spot on, we will see how things go this evening 👍

I'll see what's happening later and report my findings. 👍

Hopefully it's not as bad as it sounds... Come on @CptMadBean you're the number 1 driver, we need you lapping faster than this. ;)

Moved weight distibution back to centre, seems a little better.
But I'm driving very close to crashing it and best 44.256, may re-install suspension.

Also thinking I may need to remove areo?

Top speeds seem ok, maybe a little slower but really it's little if any.
Round the turns the clio min speed slow, maybe lucky and get close but still slower.
And then there alot slower can be done in all cars, just the clio seems the worse.

Seems weird that, it was certainly competitive at GVE. How is @Ian_83 getting on with it?

Whats your handicap ? your swing ?? :D

Careful you! Wouldn't want you to be hit by any golf balls.

You racing tonight?
