...No I'm not, I never said a consensus should be what is the reason behind formulating since that is part of the issue. He should be called out because it's a bias view that uses flawed reasoning to come to a "subjective" comment on cool, cause my dad taught me, cause the country I grew up in and the people around me don't like that stuff...who give a rat's ***. Why not think for yourself formulate reasoning based on knowledgeable items and then explain?

If you're whole point was what I said, then why does it look like a stark opposite? @Wolfe, put the Consensus part best and what I was trying to say in my post and this one on the topic.

But where you grew up, your parents and countless other things are instrumental in forming ones opinions, of course it's a biased view, that's why we have a poll, it's subjective. You probably didn't grow up in an environment where Mustangs and drag racing and whatnot are all that, but that's fine too. I think if ever Slash implied we should all subscribe to his way of thinking and opinions, he's moved on since then. There are plenty of other folks who do though and they don't even realise it. It's kinda funny :)

So you basically understood nothing of what I just said?

Too bad I did, as I explained to @Slash in the thread I was talking about. Also I was raised to think Mustangs are crap and blah blah. The problem with your thinking is that people are fine to perpetuate ignorance...they aren't. Hence why we educate ourselves and expand beyond the dross we're taught early on, and question why we were taught or told to think in a certain way. Some people however, rather not be bothered with it and just go on, if that's the stationary position you wish to keep, then once again (since you haven't answered it) why say anything other than clicking a answer and moving on?

If perpetuating ignorance is fine, then I should have kept thinking Mustang's and Ford at large is a joke. It's not in either case at all.

...What? Elaborate

Clearly not, and the fact that Slash liked your previous post speaks volumes

There is a difference between having a vastly different opinion (however this was formed) and ignorance. I probably don't see the relative merits of the series 2 Mustang in the detail Slash does, sure that means I'm ignorant of those nuances but doesn't make me an "ignorant" closed-minded person in general.

For the record, I voted SZ for this car, I chose not to explain why but wanted to address the few who seem to think that everyone should vote the car as SZ, and anyone else is ignorant, or doesn't know what constitutes "cool". Ironically I actually liked the relative subjectivity of Slash's vote, and opinion. He hasn't been around or swooned over old European coupes, and probably doesn't give a rat's ass about Steve McQueen, but he still thinks the car is pretty nifty. Vive le difference.

What that he agrees that he's biased? I mean the guy knows he is and is up front about it...what's so crazy about that? Or is it just weird that people are honest about things from time to time even if it's not a great quality.

No there isn't, now you're splitting hairs on the subject when I gave a clear directive. What makes a Mustang cool to Slash and allows him to go into great detail is fine. I'd rather him explain it to me. I probably wont find it cool, but at least it gives a realistic subjective perspective, rather than one perpetuated by society. What's not fine is the ignorance that by default every Ford or Mustang (not saying he does this as a constant) for example should be cool without explanation. Same reason when a person says all french cars by default are not cool...that's ignorant and childish and needs explanation.

I voted the car cool, I don't think everyone should vote it SZ, but I don't think people should fall on biased flawed reasoning when voting which ever way they decide to go. You shouldn't compare this car or other to your favorite manufacture, country of origin, era of car manufacturing or so on... Also this isn't an issue I have with @Slash which is another reason he probably liked my post, he knows (one of the rare few) that I'm a a-hole at times but am not doing it because I dislike him. Me and him get along quite well on here.

This is an issue I have in general...like many others and why debate on forums occur. I tend to argue people who vote the same ruling as at times as well...so my stance is quite objective.

A lot of the junk cars I like are because I see a lot of the potential they have. Cars that are quick or that don't need anything out of the box generally bore me. I like tinkering with stuff. I am the kind of guy that can't leave anything alone. And a lot of it comes down to styling and what appeals to you and me.

I would consider TVR to be pretty cool, which is funny considering your username.

MG, Morgan, Triumph, there's probably a few others.

I've never heard of a cool Bentley, never mind a sub-zero one.

DB4 GT/DB4 GT Zagato and the original Elite and Elans were certainly cool. Maybe the i6 DB7 too. Not sure about SZ for any of them though.

I love TVRs but they aren't cool cars for the most part.

As do I. For example, I like the Pinto. You do. But I'd have a very very hard time believeing that you find it cool as is. I don't. Would I have one and put in a 460 in it and make it pop wheelies in the street? You bet your sweet ass I would. Would that make it cool? Well, it would make it cooler than it was when stock, but maybe it won't reach cool because it's still a damned Pinto.

And on we go.

This is basically how I feel about it. I don't think it's really all that cool of a car, but it's certainly cooler when it does wheelies haha.

Ok, then you understand the concept, so why is it so difficult to grasp when applied to other cars? And the same goes for loads of people.

I said I looooooooove the Boss 429, and I voted it uncool because of all the reasons I stated. Like =/= cool.

I have different feelings about different cars. I'm weird like that.

What? Haven't you previously stated multiple times that "car people" aren't cool? I'd definitely consider Steve McQueen a car person.

There's always exception to the rule. Steve McQueen is also an actor first and a car guy second or even further down the line.

Those of us who can differentiate the definitions and meanings of words will vote on a car's coolness, not how much we like it.
This is something that I dislike about the Cool Wall. We've got some people voting based off how cool it is and others voting based off whether they like it or not. In some nominations there are some people voting the opposite of what they really think just to be "that guy".

The funny thing is that I knew about the D-Type before the E-Type and I kinda thought the D-Type was cooler.

Anyway, I voted Sub-Zero and basically for the same reasons why some other people here voted Sub-Zero.

No doubt this is is a cool car... its so cool that i am not cool enough to drive it, even if i am rich enought... it would seem that only Steve is cool enough to drive it... so i am voting for a meh...

Uncool because modern society would see it as such.

If you're talking "modern society" as in the anti-car public in general... those people aren't particularly fond of modern sports cars.

Classic cars typically get a free pass. Because they're classics. And they get a free pass on emissions and fuel economy, too.

To most people, a classic car isn't a car... it's a rolling art piece, or industrial iconography.

If you're talking "modern society" as in the anti-car public in general...

The general public, not the anti-car public.

I will admit though that I was being intentionally tongue-in-cheek harsh on my "post vote" because I'd struggle to find anyone that didn't look at this car and think it was drop-dead gorgeous.

Of course, and I doubt Zenith would deny that. But I've highlighted the "odd word out" in your sentence, since Slash's penchant for V8 Ferds should have absolutely nothing to do with whether the XK-SS is cool or not.

To be fair, Slash did vote it cool - but I can absolutely see why Zenith queried the fact he marked it down because of the wheel design. It's a bit like suggesting Keira Knightley would be a better actor if she had bigger tits.

I'd pay more attention if she did.

I'd struggle to find anyone that didn't look at this car and think it was drop-dead gorgeous.

Sorry, but this looks like it was styled to make small children laugh, not to look gorgeous.

Well this is something we will never know unfortunately. But even if it happened and she wasn't a better actress, the world would be a slightly better place. ;)

Only if they were real.

Only if they were real.

Sorry but the XKSS looks downright cartoonish in pictures. Luckily, that sentiment does not translate into real life. I've had the pleasure of seeing one in person, and it does look beautiful. But I voted cool, and not subzero, because the only time I've ever seen one is in a museum, and I'm fairly certainly most are that way too. Famine said museum pieces were seriously uncool, but I like this car too much, so for me I'll just knock it down to cool.
