That's like saying, without the racing heritage, the Ford GT40 is just a sports car.

A cool sports car though.

But again, just because something isn't cool doesn't make it uncool. What's your reasoning for giving it the most negative vote possible? I'm not trying to attack you here, I'm just curious why you voted the way you did.

Are you really of the opinion that a car is seriously uncool just because it has a certain type of boot access, or is there something else behind your vote?

I am just not a fan of hatchbacks, hot or not.

Rare Italian motorsport icon. I can't think of many other cars I could ditch the 205 for with so little hesitation. Easiest Cool Wall decision I've made.

The Sunbeam Lotus was proof that boxy, otherwise dull hatchbacks (with rally pedigree) could become a lot cooler in hot hatch form. This iconic motor took it to another level.

Sub Zero.

Ah, so someone nominated the third one, then?
Let it join the Stratos and 037 in the Ice Box.

Ignoring the contrarian-for-the-sake-of-it discussion, I'll be honest and say the Delta has never really done much for me in comparison to other Lancia greats. But there's no arguing it's status as an icon, or the pedigree. It's also aged surprisingly well. Sub Zero it is.

I say that Sedans are better than hatchbacks and also say that the fact Sedans are going to die is bull:censored:, but not to the point where i vote one of the best representatives of the hatchbacks the lowest vote there is!

Bit of a car for anoraks, piggybacking the hyper-exclusive Audi sport quattro's success (so not even original.) No doubt a car with pedigree, but styling certainly came second. All of which pull this amazing car down to cool for me.

But I'll reiterate: why SU? I don't see how "not being a fan" of something makes it seriously uncool. People who vote SU usually feel fairly strongly about it, otherwise merely uncool would suffice.

That's a weird thing to say. You do realise the Delta was in fact a (much) more successful rally car than the Audi, both in terms of driver and manufacturer titles?

The road car is a homologation version of the rally car, much like a Peugeot 205 T16, a Ford Escort Cosworth or a Subaru Impreza. They were all built to comply with rules, not to make a few quid by copying Audi.

Very cool, but too much of a whiff of the Impreza yo hashtag gymkhana flared crowd to warrant the sub zero it's predecessors deserve.

Tried the short answer, guess I'll go with the long answer this time.

I probably would have gone with "meh". However, because this is the GTPlanet Cool Wall, and I've been through enough of these to know that voting anything other than cool or sub zero on the hot hatch threads usually results in the hot hatch lovers questioning why I voted the way I did. (Not singling you out here) That tends to erupt into a multi page argument which goes nowhere and more often than not has me wishing I had voted the car lower, so I skipped all that and went with SU right from the start.

Except for the part where that doesn't make any sense whatsoever...

@Adamgp -- Unless someone decides to single you out from the poll results (happens but not every time), no one would say anything if you didn't leave a one-liner post with only a snippet of the reasoning behind your vote. If you'd rather not explain yourself and deal with the hassle you expect to follow, just vote and be done with it.

Yup, I know. But Audi did it first and I believe that counts for a lot.

Think about it and get back to me.

Others leave one-liners and only a short explanation of their vote, but they voted with the majority so it's fine.

If I just voted SU and left it at that, I'd likely get called out on it anyway.

The one that called you out seemed to be pretty friendly, if you ask me. Its not like anyone was attacking you so why is friendly discussion such a problem?

True, he was nice about it.

I just don't get the point of discussion/debating in the cool wall threads.

Really? I think theres plenty of reason for it. Especially for getting information that you wouldnt otherwise know. I find it odd that you would even say that to be honest. Maybe you should refrain from posting/voting in these then if your trying to avoid explaining your vote? I mean just going off your reaction and your views, it just seems odd that you would even join in.

@Adamgp -- I don't care if you leave a comment or not, or what you think about hot hatches or the Lancia. But if you're expecting to attract attention you don't want, and you don't get the point of discussion/debating here, no one is forcing you to leave a comment.

I've heard people call these hatchbacks ugly, but I personally love its boxy styling. I think it just works with this car. Anyway; this car is definitely sub-zero for being a hot hatchback made by Lancia. Older Lancias in my book are automatically cool from the start.

I'm not trying to attract attention. I left a comment and got questioned on it so I answered. As I said before, if I only voted and didn't comment I would likely be called out anyway.

I don't see the point. I typically vote before I post anyway. I can't change it, why debate it.

I'm not sure why you'd mention that. Changing it or not, if you don't want to express your views on it the best bet would be to avoid it all together.

I never found the Delta to be a attractive car personally but it be insulting on voting it anything less than cool.

I expressed my views. They just went against the popular vote.

Yes, you're right you did. It just odd, because you seem upset about having to do so. Popular opinion or not, like I said, its not like anyone was attacking you. Everything was friendly here, so I'm just not seeing the need to be upset about it.

And to not go so far off topic, I voted cool. I dont keep up with motorsports so its heritage doesnt really mean much to me, but I have a soft spot for hatchbacks. It has a decent amount of power for the time it was out, and just look at those flares. Always loved those boxy flares especially from the e30 M3 as well as the R32 GTR. I also love how square it is

Not upset at all. Getting a little annoyed however.
