An absolute classic.

European hatchback? Cool.
Rally monster that was an actual road car too? Sub-zero

Was going to say uncool because people who don't understand cars wouldn't understand... Then I realized that people who don't understand cars are seriously uncool, so I voted Sub-Zero. And that makes me happy, because it would hurt to vote the Delta as anything else.

I've owned a 8V Delta HF Turbo and an Integrale Evo I in my time and I can confirm their Sub Zero credentials. Ignoring the electrical bills and insurance costs at the time, they were both electric to drive, felt they were actually alive (something very few cars today can offer) and had one the best gear changes I've experienced. OK, modern machinery is faster, more reliable and cheaper, but that's missing the point. Go and drive one if you can, just don't own it. ;)

*saw the Title* Sub Zero

That's all that needs to be said about my vote.

Without the rally heritage, it is just a hatchback, which I do not find to be cool.

It's a rather plain looking hatchback. Don't see anything that screams "cool" about that.

This I can understand.

Let's face it. Not everyone is into rallying. Those of us who are, we're car nerds. And we're seriously uncool people, really.

For people who don't watch rallies, who don't really pay attention to nearly thirty year old hatchbacks with misshapen bonnets, the Lancia is just an old car.

They won't understand why it's surrounded by a bunch of drooling, middle-aged men.

They won't understand why secondhand ones auction off for more than a brand new hot hatch.

It's just a square-ish, modestly handsome old hatchback.

Of course, on the other paw... to anyone who hasn't watched his movies, Humphrey Bogart is a soppy-faced, cigar-chomping old dude who's notable for not looking like a matinee idol. He's still incredibly cool, anyway.

@Adamgp Just one last question and I'll let you go: What makes this hatch less cool than the PT Cruiser, which you voted cool? The PT Cruiser is a hatch just like the Integrale, so what makes it cool to you? I'm just trying to comprehend your logic, as I really don't understand it.

While I voted the PT Cruiser uncool or seriously so, it's actually a good design. I voted uncool because the car underneath was rather bleh, but there's no denying that it was an eye-catching number.

Oh, I understand your logic, but not his.

This car is just Sub-Zero material. This car is recognazible everywhere by everyone. It has legendary status.

Fun fact: About 3-4 years ago I saw one Integrale in yellow for sale in Portugal for 29.000€. Today one, in yellow, just like the one I saw is going for 53.000€. Their value is rocketing upwards and they are getting more and more desiarble.

It's probably not cool since it's related to motorsports and is a rather unattractive Italian car. However, I felt compelled to vote sub-zero because I just can't bring myself to vote it any less.

Not as cool as previous Lancias that did well in rally, but still very cool.

There was actually one for sale in Portland a few months ago. Unsurprisingly, I think it needed a new head gasket, if I'm remembering correctly.

Not really, not any more. The game has moved on substantially.

Evo mag did an article almost seven years ago, pitching an Integrale (EvoII) against a Clio 197, Corsa VXR and a Fiesta ST185 on track. The Delta was comprehensively beaten. And they're supermini sized hatches, not the full fat Golf - Focus - Civic sized hot hatches that would have been even quicker.
It's still a good handling car though

Legendary car, fantastic to drive (much nicer than the majority of rally reps from that period).

Cool.

The thing that bugs me with this car is how it could win so much, while the road car is the stereotypical Italian unreliable piece of loveable junk.

There's great fun in tuning them to a bit more power, you can't make it anymore unreliable than it already is. There's even more fun when it snows.

High cool. Close to SZ.

Sub-****ing-zero. And if you disagree, I'll punch you in the face.

The Squadra Corse basically took a badge-engineered Ritmo (that nobody wanted; the comments of people who still remember the base Delta here in Italy aren't very kind) and morphed it into a world-dominating hatchback of doom that sounds like it's running on hatred and goes faster than light on any surface. It gets bonus points from me because it's a Lancia (one that cemented the brand's record as the world's winningest in rally), yeah... But you can't hate this car. It's a brick of enthusiasm and passion, ready to rally at all times.
