1994 McLaren F1

  • Total voters
    199
  • Poll closed .
Honestly... The difference in users between 2010 and now is so huge the tutnout for many cars wouldbe different. I'd love a chance to vote in the ones I've missed. #RevoteAllPollsFromBefore2012
Same here, I would love to give my take on some of the previous cars.

That thought has crossed my mind.

If it were to occur, there would be a decrease in regular posts though, so it's a double edged sword

Split it 5/2. 5 new cars a week, 2 revotes a week

I was thinking on days with posts, that there would be 1 new poll and 1 repoll. There's only ~50 cars in the Queue at any given time, there's ~200 I'd consider repolling

I guess it would be a simple cut-paste with the revotes. If you think we can handle that many polls at a time... 👍
It wouldn't be that simple, but it wouldn't be the hardest thing. The OP's would all be updated to the current template. Also, the spreadsheet would need modification, but I can do that myself.

There may technically be more members on the site now. But there's still only a similar sized group of people who frequent the Automotive threads on a regular basis. There are some members who hang around here now that didn't during the earliest polls. But there are just as many who were around then who don't visit anymore and those of us who've been a constant presence throughout won't want to be voting on the same stuff again. Just let sleeping dogs lie.

Revotes are a very bad idea. The people spoke. That's where they voted. If you chose not to vote or hadn't registered an account by the time the vote happened, it's your fault. All it would do is just result in everything slowly moving towards the middle of the wall, anyway.

So your basically saying that not even the McLaren F1 has a chance of joining the Miura (be honest).

>1% Chance of it happening

I strongly doubt that there's a greater than 1% chance of that happening. A 1% > chance of it happening, that I can believe.

Quite honestly, if it weren't for a few horror stories I've heard about people buying these and letting them rot combined with the fact that I'm old enough to remember the days when nine year olds would obsess over its top speed figures alone and ignore its other achievements, I probably would've voted this sub zero. Most of them still get at least somewhat used and abused by their owners, and in fairly mildly modified form it was able to beat purpose built prototypes at Le Mans. But... When I think of a standard F1, I think of an eight year old freaking out over one which is rotting to pieces in some posers garage.

I feel a revote is a bad idea because otherwise, all the cars would end up being re polled every few years or so because of new members voting on it, it would end up just being a cycle that happens every few years.

To me it sounds like the plan is to ignore votes from members who don't vote the right way and revote old threads until the right result is achieved.

No thanks.

Cool Wall =/= Democracy

There would only be 1 revote, unless the Cool Wall were to take another hiatus, and after said hiatus the results prove that there has been a significant enough difference in voting base to require a revote to balance out the wall.

Anyway, my point of removing votes has been made, and the desired effect has been given, the arguing over one member with nothing to do with the car has ceased. I will count the votes, unless another wave of off topic posts occurs.

I hope I didn't get cancer from the several other pages before. Jesus Holy Christ, what a mess.

Well, yesterday I voted this Sub-Zero, because it obviously is a legend. The bodywork is brilliant, it's fast, the seat is on middle meaning no worrry for scratching left or right sides of car and 3 seats instead of two. What's there not to like? Well, sure it's not a common car for going at supermarkets and stuff but, it's great for roadtrips to beaches and other places.

This is how is a real McLaren is, nothing like piece of crap P1. This is the one and only real McLaren. Well, the MP4-12C have a spot for my heart but the F1 goes on top, no doubt.

IT'S A GODDAMN SPACESHIP ON WHEELS, AND IT'S ORANGE.

ORANGE.

HOW CAN YOU NOT LOOK AT THIS THING AND GET FROSTBITE? IT'S BELOW ZERO KELVIN.

5 more minutes, and the worst thread in GTP Cool Wall history will be official.

If this thread doesn't show why repolling needs to happen, I don't know what does.

1.709

This car had 10 more Sub Zero votes than any other car had votes, and the fact that it is still .2 away from the top shows how different the people voting on the cars are.

Why?

It's not a good idea, the cool wall is not like a parliament where positions have to change every now and then. And a re-poll would have to be of every car, in the interest of fairness, not just the ones you think deserve a different placement. That's not going to be very practical.

This is how democracy works, the people have voted, not everyone agrees with the result. Deal with it.
