1994 McLaren F1

  • Total voters
    199
  • Poll closed .
Alright, time to nip this problem of off topic arguing, which I am defining as not directly relating to the McLaren F1 or why you voted the way you did in this poll on the McLaren F1, or responding to anything I say regarding rules, any posts I define as off-topic after this one will have the following things happen.
  • Your vote will be checked and removed from the poll (Done manually by myself)
  • If you have a nomination in the queue, it will be moved to the bottom
This post will be a check list of Off Topic posts

Not to jump into a dog pile or whatever, but you're kind of doing the exact same thing.

Well, his last response was hours ago and kind of went out of his way to bring it back up. With the time difference between the USA and NZ, I imagine he went to bed last night and woke up at noon his local time and came back to the thread which was already dead. What's your take?

Doesn't that kind of go against the whole point of the Cool Wall? Yeah, the arguing and bickering is annoying but removing votes and skewing results seems a little extreme. That is just my opinion though, you're running the show and can do whatever you want with it.

Drastic times call for drastic measures, this won't be a common occurrence (Hopefully)

You could have just not responded.

I agree. Here's how I'd do it:

Draw a line between arguing and debating (generally arguing is immature, and tends to just go around in circles, where as debates are more open-minded, and typically end in a solution, or an agreement to disagree).

Debating about the car/coolness of the car = perfectly acceptable.

Immature arguing/personal insults = penalty. I suggest either your nomination getting moved back some, or some sort of temporary ban.

As Peobryant said though, your show. Do what you want.

That's pretty much what I'm doing right now with this, temp banning people who argue for this thread and moving back your nomination (Not yours, but whoever does argue after the post)

I know, but removing a vote seems a little unfair. The arguer(s) voted their honest opinion. I personally think they should get their nomination moved back (maybe 3-5 days, more depending on how bad it was), and be banned from voting in the next few cool walls.

How can I ban people from voting in a poll though, I'd have to do the same thing I'm doing here and check the results before calculating to see if people are circumventing the ban or not. I'm essentially temp banning them from the thread they cause the problem in. Again, this is hopefully a one time thing, but it can and will return if necessary.

Yeah, you're right, I assumed everyone would follow their ban anyway. This is the internet, no one ever plays by the rules. :P

Then ignore my other posts. Nomination moved back, the amount of spaces depending on the severity of the offense, and vote being discarded sounds good then.

As for the one-time thing, hopefully now that a penalty is in place, but judging from previous cool walls, I'm not so sure. That's what happens when you get lots of people, with lots of different maturity levels, and lots of different opinions together in a discussion forum. The only thing you can do is penalize it and pray for the best.

Its easy. When the poll ends, banned people that have voted have their vote discounted, no?

I go for 5 pages and all hell broke loose.

As for the McLaren, does anyone know how many votes would now be needed to beat/join the Miura?

>1% Chance of it happening

Slightly on topic, have you ever thought about re-polling the Miura? I'd be curious to see how it would do these days.

Short answer: Yes
Long Answer: If repolling happens, it will be more than just one done.

Honestly... The difference in users between 2010 and now is so huge the tutnout for many cars wouldbe different. I'd love a chance to vote in the ones I've missed. #RevoteAllPollsFromBefore2012
