Ironically I don't find many of them to be that way. Most of what I see here is mild stuff (within reason) and they don't pretend it's something it's not.
It might have to do with you being a Mustang-homer (esp. after arguing with @Kent) & won't throw the car in a negative light?

Either way, Mustangs of this generation have a terrible reputation & it's because of the owners. No different from the way people still vote BMWs as uncool.

Same here. Even at the local meets you see built Mustangs parked next to stanced GTI's. Owners know what their car is and what it isn't.

I have no problem ripping on a Mustang for its faults

If it was just the base model I would say uncool, if it was just the Cobra R, it would be cool, but very close to SZ. I'll go with cool.

90's Fords were a styling disaster and this was no exception. The first real attempt at restyling the Mustang to recapture the pre-70's muscle car, and it failed. I mean, just look at those interiors. Thankfully the situation was saved by the 5th gens. Uncool.

Disagree on this. Interiors perhaps, but with regards to exteriors Ford has very seldom lost its edge. (Pardon the pun)

Fully agree with you on his. 1990s Fords as whole had really garbage styling. 1997 and up other than a select few models of Mustang are absolutely dreadful vehicles.

and this was no exception.
Except this. This car with the right model looks absolutely fantastic (looking at you, Terminator). The car has multiple styles for whoever they suit, as did every other generation. This model is no exception in that regard.

Everything looked like something you'd find in a Barbie playset, including the SN95 and F150.
Depends on the F150. Pre 1997 weren't too bad as they were derivatives of the 1980 model. After that, they look like someone morphed them out of play-doh.

@Slash is right, it's the one from the late '90s to early '00s.

You claim you hang at a drag strip all day, your proof is right in front of you.

Seriously, I live in one of the, if not the, biggest horsepower-dick-measuring state in the US, and Mustang owners are by far the most cocky, anti-American anything. These are the people who love to talk trash on Imports, but don't dare participate at TX2K or the Texas Invitational because it's dominated by GT-Rs, Supras, & Lambos. I have been around Texas' street racing scene for years now, & the Ford-Edge owners were some of the loudest mouth (& youngest unsurprisingly) folks at calling others out with their Intake & Exhaust modified cars they thought was fast at 350Hp.
I can also confirm this statement.

Although I want to go to TX2K this year.

It really doesn't matter if you're showing off your V6 Auto with a cold air intake or doing burnouts in a SVT Cobra. Showing off is uncool and fourth gen Mustang owners are practically the definition of show off car owners.

Over here the equivalent is young show offs in their Corsas, Fiestas, Focuses, Astras etc.

The same kind of douche you want to high five in the face and tarnish the reputation of said cars.

I'd have the British equivalent of Mustang owners as people in the UK with Imprezas and Lancer evolutions. Ignoring the fact that they are imports (any British equivalents to the Mustang are looooong gone), they have a modicum of pedigree and performance yet the people who 'drive' them think they are god's gift to throttle control and turn up at track days and meet ups smelling of their own anus.

I pretty much have no car bias except for Listers, but this, I just hate it. Seriously uncool because I don't like Mustangs in general.

Did that last guy really just stay in it whilst fish tailing?

These kids think this Need For Speed or something. SMH. :dunce:

Everyone knows you go full throttle when you're losing it, that way you pull off a mad drift (Y0) and impress the innocent bystanders you nearly bowled over.

Honestly, that video was painful to watch. It wasn't so much a "meet up" as a bunch of idiots taking over two sets of traffic lights to demonstrate their throttle control, which had the quality and grace of a 2009 Toyota recall. And it was absolutely deplorable how that last guy just ploughed into the next carriageway of traffic.

Or is that the norm in Texas?

That was in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Not quite Texas but not far off I'd imagine.

I'm pretty sure that was the end of the meetup when everyone was leaving while pulling out of a parking lot. There are about 30 videos from over the years of people doing Mustang pullouts at the end because it draws a massive crowd.

Amended for accuracy (and I'd exclude the above Mustang from that anyway - I've always quite liked the way it looks). In Europe I'd be more inclined to say that Fords were dull, at worst, but otherwise fairly easy on the eye.

Scorpio aside, but that doesn't look nearly as bad these days as it did back in the era. Funny how the shock value of cars quickly subsides.

That fix was well deserved. Euro Fords of the period aren't nearly as bad.

I learned to drive stick on an 03 Cobra. Very nice car, I don't mind the interior. The cool outweighs the uncool for me.
