GT3 was the reason I was able to get up to speed so quick in a kart.:D
I had a similar experience, except for me it was GT4 and 5 too; I was within a tenth of a second of the lap record at the local kart track in only my first time ever in a kart. Too bad they're replacing the track with a dealership, so I only got the chance to go back once. Actually, I haven't been in a kart in nearly a year. I should find a place to go during summer break, racing karts was some of the most fun I've ever had, even if they were really slow ones.

Oh yeah, this is a pretty meh car, but it's pretty handsome. And that FWD Audi a few posts up is insane. I love it.
 
Even with the worn suspension and snow tires that car corners well enough to treat most of those black-on-yellow speed advisory signs as dares. Makes me wonder if it got caught in GM's once-upon-a-time obsession with teh epic skidpad nawmberz at the expense of actual handling.
I think it's more likely to be a result of those corner advisory signs being highly pessimistic.

I was able to go quicker than all of the ones on PCH in two tons of Chevy Astro last summer, and the previous time I'd driven PCH, in a PT Cruiser, it wasn't difficult to go 15 mph or so quicker than the recommended speed on each corner. With a trunk full of luggage and a slushbox to muddy the throttle response.

Still trying to decide whether I'm surprised or not that you hold such strong opinions on FWD cars without ever having experienced one that actually handles. Hell, your point might even hold slightly more validity if you actually fixed the soggy suspension you keep going on about and treated your car to a bit of maintenance. "FWD SUX" based on a floaty Sunbird with knackered shocks, winter tyres and a self-certified "n00b" at the wheel is hardly the recipe for informed opinion on front-wheel drive...
 
One wonders how "epic skidpad nawmberz" hurts actual handling. Because a car that endemically understeers won't have "epic skidpad nawmberzlololol"... what's hurting handling in this case is something else entirely.

I think you're missinformed a bit. Every FWD car eventually turns into a Sunbird when it's Cool Walled. Coincidentially, into a specific one that lives in Alaska and has a shot suspension and I don't remember what else. This place is amazing like that.

The only explanation I can think of is that they're mainly for commercial trucks, like the signs warning of downhill grades. Simply meeting or exceeding the speed won't even cause our dog to lose his footing.

Eight times out of ten you're not really challenging one of those signs unless you double the posted speed, which is my rule for when I'm out by myself. Every once in a while, though, you'll find one where it's not too far from the truth.
 
I did double the posted speed (35) on a 180 degree motorway slip road in a Hyundai Elantra, of all things.

Yeah, I've thought that before. In the Astro last year they were generally fine until you went 5-10 over, at which point it all got a bit wobbly.

I've not yet driven a car competent enough on U.S. roads that double is a realistic proposition, but I could certainly imagine it in something vaguely sporty. Like when it suggests 15 mph for a not-that-tight hairpin or something.
 
I imagine double speed would be pretty easy going in something truly sporty, if my cars and @Beeblebrox237's Elantra could all do it.

Bottom line is, taking the posted number itself as a dare is like eating a bell pepper for a hot pepper challenge.
 
The gasket between the seat and the steering wheel is a common problem on those.

You mean that flappy fleshy thingy that just sits and rages on online forums about children cartoons with ponies and people who actually have enough brain to appreciate FWD?


That video, though highly educational and entertaining, made me go to bed sad. I'm never gonna as awesome as that with my beloved FWD econobox.
 
Probably the most fun I had with my fwd Escort (and later, the GTP) was stealing a couple lunch trays from the school cafeteria and putting them under the rear wheels and sliding all over the parking lot. Good times. :lol:

Other than that bit of fun, I wished those cars were rwd.

Besides, I raced the Accord Euro-R in ITCC... I might be biased but I loved it.
 
I actually think the TSX of the same gen was closer to a 4 door RSX.

Yes, RSX and TSX both used the K series 4 cylinder. The TL was a fair bit larger with a V6 as the standard engine. I've heard the TSX was an overall better balanced car than the TL but some felt it could've used a little more power, it had a 205 hp K-24.

You say that because you disagree? I accept your disagreement. The fact is, though, I like cars which can be made into very fast race cars. Not everyone does, but I do. The Honda Accord/Acura TL is an excellent starting point for a touring car. It even saw usage in the WTCC. Now, feel free to defend your own point with valid opinions or facts. I will not attack your opinion, just disagree with it.
 
I say it because:

  • This isn't about the race cars.
  • Race cars = uncool.
  • Even if it were, the car I assume you're talking about (the RealTime TSX's) aren't based on this car. Other than a Honda R&D team taking on Thunderhill's 25 hours and a few other events, I actually can't find much of anything on this generation TL being raced.
  • The European Accord =/= American Accord.
  • Nobody cares if you used the TSX/Euro Accord in your video game racing series. If anything, that'd make the car less cool, not more.

Uh, there was never a Realtime racing Acura TL. The closest thing to a racing TL was by Honda R&D with one that only ran at Thunderhill 2 times. And the car was never in the WTCC.

And just to poop on W&N's FWD hatred, it won in its class & came 3rd overall first year, 7th in the next year.

"The TL is on an up-sized US Accord platform," which is close enough.

Besides, there are two TLs at my college, both are lowered and both look amazing. They parked beside each other today...
 
They made the fascia of the TL ape that of the smaller TSX. If you're completely ignorant of Acura's lineup, it's not surprising that you would mistake the two. However, the TL looks nothing like the Accord Euro from all other angles, and the size really gives it away.

And, comparing it to the Accord it was actually derived from, you simply cannot accuse the TL of being just a badge job.
