Uncool. Wasted potential and it is still a Mercury Grand Marquis with fancy bits stuck on. It's not seriously uncool because in a way it is sort of kind of neat, but that's all. Now if Ford would have supercharged it or something then it would have been indescribably awesome.

Running out of gear. They're only designed to quickly get up to 80.

Yep. The 4 speed has got to be the main culprit here. Based on the p/w ratio this car should be trapping higher than 94 mph. It probably makes the pass in 3 gears and 3rd is probably too tall. 4th gear is probably so ludicrously tall, it is only suitable for intergalatic trips.

This car is probably a perfect candidate for a rear end swap...

..Still uncool though. Nevermind the performance, it still doesn't have the style or panache to pull off what it wants to be. Something like the 300C is the perfect example of this genre.

I really want to love this... I really do. But as usual, FoMoCo missed the mark again. Mechanicaly speaking, lackluster performance and not so special internal bits make it uncool. It's a boatload of "we've seen this before". It's a fascade. It's for mid-fifties men to pick up in denial that "senior" age is just over the horizon. I hate to say it, uncool.

Cheers,
Jetboy

It's badass, and have a 4.6 4v. It'll go as fast as you need, while looking mean and being comfy. Subzero

I think it fits in cool. True, it's a Grand Marquis, but it's one with an attitude. And that attitude is pretty cool. Plus it looks and sounds awesome.

Uncool.

Its a Ford, so strike one, then they messed it up by giving it an under powered V8 and a slower 1/4 mile time than some cars with half the pistons and hp. Its basically my grand parents Grand Marquis painted black with some bits removed and added, and my grand parents aren't cool. 👎

My car's evil twin. Means Subzero for me. If it hadn't been canceled due to slow sales Ford had plans to put in a proper three pedal transmission in it.

Running out of gear. They're only designed to quickly get up to 80. I wouldn't take it above 80 in that chassis anyway. :scared:

You'd be surprised how comfortable these things are at speed. From first hand experience a P71 is nice and relaxed at 120mph. I'm sure a Marauder would be even better.

Except everyone knows 300Cs are based on a Mercedes, and "it looks like a Phantom." Marauders are Marauders, and they're badass. Looks like a mafia car or something. Build that engine, tint those windows, give it a loud shiny exhaust, and you've got one badass ride that isn't based off a Mercedes and doesn't look like a Phantom.

As for the people who drive them, I don't know who drives them. I assume they're old, and I assume they're cool. They probably have another hot rod sitting in the garage at home.

The 300C is NOT based on a Mercedes.

It has a Mercedes 5 speed transmission, and uses a modified Mercedes rear suspension, axle and subframe. I believe there is some Mercedes "know how" in the wiring. That is about the extent of Mercedes content in the car.

You're right. And a 300C looks like a Phantom...until a Phantom pull up.

It was awesome when it came out, but then it turned into a wannabe gangsta poser mobile. The Marauder, however, was badass and still is.

The Marauder will always be cool, just like the 90's Impala SS. Both cars only had a few years run so they will be future classics. :D

Don't find it the least bit interesting whatsoever. It's kind of like Commodores. Hoons love them because they can do "fulleh sick eh bruuuu" burnouts and they go quick in a straight line, but it's when a 'Rex pulls up next to one at the lights that the appeal starts to wist away into thin air. The Marauder looks very boring as well to me.

Uncool.

I'm just curious what gives this car the "cool" status with everyone when it doesn't meet the usual requirements. A) you have to explain why its cool. B) A girl wouldn't think it was awesome.

Pull up somewhere and people are going to think you've got a Grand Marquis. Grandma car. Very not cool.

Out of my 22 rules, 7 apply. 4 pros and 3 cons = 57% = Uncool.

EDIT: This 👍:

Wrong. Most people don't even know the name Grand Marquis or even the brand.. They will just think you have a Police car..

This car is a mandatory Sub Zero. :D

Yep the transmission seems to be the main culprit. I know a certain nearly bone stock P71 Interceptor with just underdrive pulleys run an identical 15.6 1/4 mile time with just a Mustang GT 5spd swap.
