^ So meaning GTP's cool wall is far different than Top Gear's cool wall!? I thought the criteria is the same but with more cars (here in GTP)!?

1) Where is this "criteria"?

2) If there is a "criteria" why the hell do we have a poll? If there is a set definition on what makes it cool, the poll wouldn't be needed.

3) Why does nobody answer my question about what is so cool about durability and why is there a seeming double standard about it?

I'm starting to see why this cool wall has had so many hosts.

The only thing that will ever fail is the body. Perfect vehicle for bashing around at a certain farm in Canada. Worth at least a cool...

If it were Ivan Stewart's MTEG truck, definitely Sub-Z.

as in Ivan Ironman Stewarts Super off Road Racing?

Durability is a positive aspect of a vehicle. Having it is a good thing.

Edit: also, apparently they are 'wicked tail-happy' also... according to a friend that was going to buy one.

Good, yes. Cool, not really.

I've heard of Geo Prizm/Toyota Corolla's that have lasted to 250,000+ miles on the original engine.

No amount of durability can make ^^^ cool though.

Yes but a Hilux goes about being reliable in a better way... a Lumberjack, bomb disposal expert, fighter pilot etc. etc. may never miss a days work in 20 years.. and only be as reliable as the guy that has collected trollies at my local supermarket for 20 years with out missing a day... both deserve respect, but one of them leads a much cooler existance than the other...

But the dependability itself doesn't make it cool, maybe cooler than a plain boring Geo but not overall cool.

Are there any other reasons why people find this cool? Really? Being on Top Gear and being dependable don't really sound like strong selling points.

True, dependability itself may not.. but then if it was that easy to quantify what aspect of a car makes it cool, then this would be a poll based on fact not opinion.

If the Fiat 500 and the Ford Sport Ka, which have no redeeming features IMO, and IMO have more reasons to not be seen within 59ft of one... are still cool according to GTP, then this should be a sure thing...

Its cool like a Defender is cool, because it's like a really good mate... it will take whatever you throw at it, it ain't the best looking thing in the world, but yuo'd never be ashamed to show up somewhere with it, becaue you know, when it counts, it's there, doing it's job impeccably, and will probably be helping you have fun when you probably shouldn't be.

Just because you have an opinion on Twitter doesn't mean you can just bring it in here and declare things uncool. Just doesn't!

Now, pay respect to the truck to out last all trucks before a crazy guerrilla soldier opens fire on your quiet British hamlet :dopey:

Only the good guys use the Hilux, all the evil ones drive the Nissan equivalent...

And neither are cool.

The Tacoma is an epic Bromobile, and you know it. Uncool.

No trucks are ever cool. Basic pickups are utilitarian - they're like the helvetica of the automotive world. They do their job well but are otherwise insignificant. On the other hand, we have luxury trucks. It is impossible to drive one of those without looking like a complete douchebag.

At the left you have rednecks, at the right you have douchebags, and in between is where you find the bros. They think they're fancy with their Oakley shades, but they still wear camo cargo shorts. All three of these groups are terribly uncool.

It's a pick-up truck, and pick-up trucks are not cool, however indestructible they are.
Uncool.

You guys need to get outside more. The great outdoors is where its at. And for the few who are putting down americans for owning trucks, thats just closed minded city talk. sub-zero

Where I come from, these cars are driven by inconsiderate morons.

SERIOUSLY uncool.

I don’t think there is a less cool car I can think of…

I give a cool rating because of it's durability. You can literally run the wheels off one of these things and the engine will still run.

Oh and Jeremy Clarkson used one as a boat.👍

So basically there's no cool way to drive a pickup? No matter what you do to it, it's never going to be cool?

(What I'm about to say is not a stab at your previous car or you) Take a civic for example, it gets good mileage, carries a couple people and makes for a good runaround. They aren't fast, they handle like any other light fwd car, and really have very little going for them in terms of cool without modifications.

What makes a car like that cool, while a pickup truck has no chance to be cool?

I find the HiLux to be (a very ironic name, to say the least) a cool little truck. It'll drive through damn near anything, runs like a Deere, gets decent mileage, has a bed you can toss your crap in, and has a lot more presence than a civic/corolla/etc

Exactly, to me a modified one with a lift, solid axle swap and 35"s is cool - my friends can get darn near anywhere. Just like a civic is cool with TE-37s (example) and stanced well. Living in the country everyone has trucks, because they are practical, just like cars are more practical in the city. Just because they don't fit in well with where you live doesn't mean they don't have a place.
