Unfortunately the perfect car sim will probably never exist due to the fact that what is 'perfect' is entirely subjective according to one's own opinion of what variables make it perfect. Yes GT is the closest yet, for some it will be perfection and for others it will be flawed - close but no cigar. I'm hopeful that we will see some small issues addressed with DLC but I honestly think we won't see the level of perfection some are looking for on this generation of console. I hope Sony consult with PD for the specifications they require to be incorporated in the PS4.

Your final comments are correct, but I think you missed my point on subjectivity and perfection. The thing about Gran Turismo is it could literally be perfect with the ideal technology and development. Subjectivity could very well be circumvented by making the game and experience as close to reality as physically possible, as well as including every possible variable to suit all tastes.

Sure, that's unfeasible now, but not forever. I think they can do it in the next couple of generations of consoles. I can wait.

At this time I'm Driver lvl 19, game progress about 25%. Sebastien Loeb Challenges are great :) as well as all other challenges :)

No...

thanks!

how's one more.

How's the difficulty in general compared to past GT games? hard to get gold? thanks again!

Tekken90 did you test drivein Eiger long layout? is it hill climb? i saw it in rally video on the background it was modelled.

Does anyone with the game know how much the Zonda C12S 7.3 cost? It shouldn't be too much since it's a used car.

Damage is not important, most GT fans know this. How about you behave in a civil manner now?

wait...what? if your car is damaged, there are consequences like penalties, or probably an automatic loss. having damage is a warning to drive more safely, more carefully. and then different strategies present themselves: would you rather risk it and go at a faster speed, or would you play it safe and go for a lower speed?

we have yet to see cosmetic and mechanical damage in this game. seriously, is that so hard to implement? even my F1 Domark for the Genesis had some sort of mechanical damage. the tires even burst if you scratch them too much. and that was a game from 1993, which is 17 years ago.

Amar, unfortunately I didn't have time to read carefully your review but I'll do as soon as possible.
Based on the first glance I had, you dig up a lot of precious details (I loved the spoiler way :) ) that really made your post precious.

Thank you very much indeed

I don't know if it was already asked (sorry if it was) but I wonder ... if the car goes off road and then back on the track, is the grip affected? do the car need some time to get all the grip?

Amar, you are an invaluable asset to this forum. Your work in the Gran Turismo community is nothing short of exceptional.

I will unfortunately be unable to play GT5 with a wheel, since my ECCI 7000 will not work with the PS3. So that's one aspect of the party I won't be attending :)

Other than that, I can't wait to see you guys on the track :)

Just a quick question....will we by any chance be able to spectate races live from our PC's? Will there be able GT specific websites that will stream GT5 races live?

Daytona on sega Saturn had awesome damage. Gt5 should be more like daytona on sega Saturn. In particular, races that begin with a rolling start should have a thunderous brain melting soundtrack with the lyrics "rolling staaaaaaaaaaaaaart!!!!!!" - a soundtrack that CANNOT BE TURNED OFF.

Wake up PD!

When driving in bumper cam mode, and you break hard or accelerate hard, does it show that the nose of the car is pointing down or up??

What you said here is probably the most important aspect about damage. Damage is not about wrecking your car, it is about limiting the destruction derby-driving behaviour of many online racing participants. The GT5P online mode was a total mess.
Only a very sensitive damage modell will make people clear, that their driving behaviour has consequences.

I found Jay Leno's name in Credits. Hm. Any thoughts?

I'd imagine with the fact he has some pretty rare cars he gave them access to model them and test them to creat them for the game.

I have a few questions how come so many guys have this game already? And why in czech republic? has it been released? shops broken the release date?

It's in the credits because of his tank car, its on the official car list and was also a prize car in gt4 :)

Thanks for the epic updates so far!! Giving up valuable playing time to write all that... greatly appreciated!!

I was wondering if dynamic weather is really dynamic? Like for example on the 24 hour race, does the weather slowly change over time?

Thanks again!

The issue of no head-tracking in the pits seems especially puzzling, especially since we know you can look around the cockpit manually when stopping.

Spoiler alert, this video shows a pit-stop.

I think that it's the same sort of situation as going up to Jack Nicholson and asking him to give you his take on the current state of the LA Lakers.

When I was living in Phoenix, I had to put myself up to date with US sports, so I could have enjoyed my stay better, as I've always been a sport addicted. I recall going to see the lakers, thinking they were the best team in the world, like a real fanboy (with a flag, a scarf, a hat and a camera). What happened then, is that Lakers ended up beated by the Suns by 40+. I really hope GT5 ≠ Lakers and Forza ≠ Suns. For the time being, it's gonna be me ≠ fanboy. Just in case.

Yes but damage.........as something that's unlocked? Why would that be the case? I mean shouldn't that be something that either is, or is not there from the beginning? What evidence is their currently out there that damage would be something that changes as you progress through the game?

I'm not saying you're wrong.....I'm just a bit perplexed as to why damage would be something that changes as you level up.

Damage has been advertised as not only being cosmetic.
It's supposed to mechanically affect how the car drives.

Much like how the license tests gradually teach you how to drive.
The damage component may not be introduced early.
Penalizing a driver who can't drive will be constantly occurring and could be quite discouraging when they can't make game progress.
Incorporating this mechanic later on makes more sense when the player has the fundamentals down.

This is all speculation at this point because I don't have the game.
But with the amount of levels it's feasible that more could be unlocked as well as an update when the servers go online.
It's quite possible that we haven't seen everything the game has to offer yet.

Nice vid. Glad to see they got pit-stops in. I would like to see it from the outside just one time though because it seems a tad lifeless from the inside. Like the "urgency" isn't there. But I would keep it in the cockpit view after watching it that one time from outside.

Amar,

Thanks for this detailed informations. I appreciate that.

I really hope you can answer the following questions this evening.

How does it actually feel when you hit another car?
Plus, does it look real when you hit another car?

Because in this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vb9WEVcbzlY (2:09)
It looks really fake to me cause you can clearly see a big space between the two vehicles.

greetings

370 km/h WTF?????????
Nascar at Superspeedways uses restrictor plate.

I have a funny suspicion that come release day, after all of the opinions that have been floating around and reviews that it has received already from people that have the game early there will be a update for GT5. Whether it is on release day or a few days after I reckon it will come to iron a few things. I remember it happening with another game sometime back...though I can't remember which one.

Also bit of daft question and I apologise in advance as I have woken up and come straight to the forum, but the Premium cars, are they only downloadable from the PS Store/GT Store?

The only complaint about GT5 I've had so far is the speed of which the NASCAR cars are capable of. In the video posted above me with the pit stop, the car reached 381 km/h (and presumably looked like it could go even faster if it stayed in the draft).

381 km/h equates to 236 mph! That's WAY beyond the limits of that car at Daytona with a restrictor plate. However, the fastest speed ever recorded without a restrictor plate was 238 mph with past cars. PD should automatically include the restrictor plate for the NASCAR cars at Daytona because they NEVER drive without one there. So, a GT5 NASCAR car can reach 236+ easily in the draft, and the fastest a NASCAR has EVER gone WITHOUT a restrictor plate is 238 mph.

This alone has me scared about the physics and capabilities of the cars in the game. If they can't get one of their flagship cars correct, how are they going to be right with the other 1000+?
