Hey everyone this in the sign up thread for new Season of the GTP Le Mans Series.

Season 4 will continue on saturdays same time as season 3.

I May ( I said may!!!) Limit the Season to only 2 of each car allowed. If i do this the during pre-season you can use whatever car you want, and the fastest drivers will their choice if there are more than 2 wanting the same car

I will be setting up a weekly race event that will be on a week night sometime in the evening (eastern timezone ) effectively ruling out people from UK timezones to participate unless that want to race at 2:00 AM BST. I have not picked what night of the week it will be yet.

Give me a few days and ill have the thread set-up proper with all the information

Online Lobby will Open @ 12:00 PM Eastern
Qualifying Race Starts 12:30 PM Eastern
Race Starts 1:00 PM Eastern
Race Ends approx 2:00 PM Eastern ​

Each race will last aprox 1 hour. Each track will have an estimated lap time used to determine the number of laps. ( The # of laps will be adjusted on race day if necessary, if the average lap time will not complete the race within +/- 2mins of an hour )


Series Rules:

Skid Recovery: Disallowed
Active Steering: Disallowed
Driving Line: Allowed for Practice & Qualifying / Disabled for Race
TCS: Allowed
ABS: Allowed
ASM: Allowed
Tire wear & fuel: On
Grip reduction rain & track edge: Real
Penalties: Off
Damaged: Light
Boost: Only turbo boost is allowed

Qualifying:

There is two stage qualifying for the series.
1: Room Lobby / Lounge will be open qualifying to post your fastest time. This will
determine your grid position for the qualifying race.
2: After qualifying there will be a 2-3 Lap Qualifying Race.
* Qualifying Race will have a grid start​

Racing:

Pace Lap: 1 lap will be added to the race distance for a formation pace lap. After qualifying drivers will be called one by one to exit the pit in the order they finished. The first driver will stop 100m after they exit the pit and everyone will line up behind them in order. DO NOT pass the driver in front of you. After everyone is out of the Pits the Race will be started.

Drivers will line up in a single File. A minimum of 3 car lengths must be between cars. You are not allowed to pass the the bumper of the car in front of you.


The Formation Lap speed limit is 100 kph / 60 mph
*Stay in your qualifying order
*Do not hit other cars or exceed the speed limit


Rolling Start: When pole driver turns onto the pit straight the race will go green flag once 100m from start/finish line. ((This point will be clarified before each race.)) No Passing is allowed until crossing the start finished line. Drivers will be penalized for false starts and illegal passing.

Pit Lane is closed during the pace lap. Drivers who enter the pits will recieve a penalty​

Rules:

No ramming or bashing of other cars is allowed. All Drivers are expected to to read and follow GTP's Online Racing Rules

Cutting chicanes & corners is not allowed. 2 Wheels must remain on the track.


Overtaking: clean overtaking is the responsibility of everyone on track. Any racing incidents that happen as a result of poor overtaking, the overtaker may be held responsible and penalized. * If the defender is found braking excessively early to defend or to cause an incident they will be penalized.

**You are NOT allowed to overtake if order to make the pass its necessary to have wheels off the track in the grass or outside the white line boundaries.

EXAMPLE: At La Sarthe in the run from Muslanne to Indianapolis, if you have to cut across the grass in order to get by a driver while racing for position then you should not be overtaking. Or at Daytona trying to go two wide on between the turn 1 exit and turn 2.
This will be considered an illegal overtake & reckless driving which will be penalized​

Track Position: If you gain a position by cutting a corner or pushing another driver off the track you must immediately allow that other person to pass you and give back that position back.

Blocking: Drivers are allowed one change of direction on a straight to defend. Its not considered a block if a car stays on its racing line while in a turn

Lapped Drivers: Back markers must yield faster traffic at the first safest opportunity. Lapped do not have to pull off the track to allow lead drivers by. Always allow faster lead cars to pass freely on straights.
Lead Drivers are not allowed to ram, push, or spin back markers off the track to get by - overtaking rules are still in effect.

Bump Drafting: NASCAR style bump drafting is not allowed. (really - do i have to mention this ....... )

Pit Lane: You must you the proper pit lane entry & exit section of the track. You must also slow down before entering the pit lane. (tracks like laguna you cannot enter the pits @ race speed) Drivers are not allowed to cross pit exit line when re-entering the track.

Race Incident reporting: To report a race incident (or a suspected incident) after the race send me a PM with info on what happened and what lap in happened on. If you dont give me a lap, I'm not watching the replay.

Driver reputation system:
Each driver is going to start the season with 20 points next to their name.
You will lose points for causing race incidents / accidents and poor driving.
This system should help distinguish the clean drivers / from the not so clean drivers.
Any driver who receives multiple complaints from other drivers or is given a warning or a penalty will lose rep points.

Examples
* Knocking another driver off the track and causing them to lose their position -2 pts
* Knocking a driver off the track and causing them damage - forcing them to lose more than 1 position - 4 pts
* Getting caught cutting corners - 2 pts
* Cutting a corner to gain a position - 2 pts
* Passing on the rolling start before the start line - 2 pts
* Any other rule breaking & insistences not mentioned - 1 to 4 pts

Penalties:

Team Orders: If you hear "Alonso is faster than U" .... Then tell your race engineer to stfu and if Alonso wants to get by he can pass you like everyone else ​

The Championship:

Driver's Championship Points System

1st - 30 points
2nd - 25 points
3rd - 21 points
4th - 18 points
5th - 15 points
6th - 12 points
7th - 10 points
8th - 8 points
9th - 6 points
10th - 5 points
11th - 4 points
12th - 3 points
13th - 2 points
14th - 2 points
15th - 1 point
16th - 1 point

Bonus Points
2 Points for participating in the qualifying race.
3 Points for finishing the race.

Team Championship
Teams are allowed to have two drivers. Both drivers must drive the same car with the same livery.

I honestly dont know what to do if anything to the regs from season 3.
BUT there are a few cars that suffer, the Nissan R89 & R92, R10 & Pescarolo's.

And we know the 2001 R8 is too fast. (why it was banned)

Soooooooooooooo i am going to recruit all of you to get me valuable track data.
I need (want) everyone that has more than 2 LMPs to do some testing of different HP limits and post the lap times here.

The Track i want everyone to use is Indy road course , not because i think its the best track, but it has some slippery corners & the straights to show if a car will have too much of an advantage or if its too slow.

**DONT just drive your favorite car please, Comparing two drivers in two different cars skews the results a little sometimes, so i need the driver in as many different cars as possible.
** USE any HP, From lowest to max if you want, just make sure you compare all your cars at the same HP b4 you move to the next limit
** Make sure to test online only, In the lounge or in an Lobby.

quick thought on the team thing with 2 cars:
I think that it should be the fastest average time at a given circuit of the two team mates.

I mean if me and MU both want to be 908 team mates but him and Johny are the fastest 908 guys, that splits up the team straight away.

But you got to look at the other side of the spectrum too. If there a guy is really fast but is with a slow teammate in comparison, and they lose out, they don't get to drive their favored car because of someone else's poor driving which isn't fair on them. You can't settle it either way.

So we pick based on who's been participating the longest in the series or a random draw from a hat? Not saying your wrong, just giving suggestions.

Lol while a random draw from a hat would be quite funny, I would be pretty ****** off if I got drawn with an R10 lol. So I wouldn't expect anyone else to be any different lol.

Anyway BK said MAY so it's not been decided yet. If it does happen we will had to decide nearer the time

I meant only a draw for people fighting for a particular car. E.g. me, Golfer, Johny and anyone else who wants a 908. Only 2 of us can get it. Everyone gets their choice still, mostly.

Yeah, but Bermuda was considering limiting it to only 2 of the same cars. I think it's classed as 1 car as it is still a 908.

Yeah but there are two 908. The 908 and the 908 HDi FAP. Peugeot naming LMP cars are like Porsche styling a new 911

Actually MU was one of the guys who had contacted me over being team-mates. Well, rather we were talking and he thought of it lol. Either way we thought of maybe using the Speed 8 together this season. We said the deal would depend on what the regulations were. So I'll wait and see on that one. Until then I'll let Golfer and Johny tear each other to shreads

What do you mean get trashed?

Only your 6 best rounds would score you points, the worst would give you 0 no matter how much you scored in that round. This would mean that if you have to skip one race you still have a chance to win the series.
