Well, i'll follow mike's lead and call my car Geoff.

Top Gear fans will get the joke.

I'll get some times tomorrow on a bunch of cars. I'll use less popular cars and compare to my 787.

You want random hp? or an order to it? will you use these times to build the regs of each car (not overall regs?)

for instance if you're doing that, I'll run the S3 680hp in my 787b, and then try to match the times with hp on other cars.

Use the same hp for all the cars at once.
Im using this to build the overall regs , I'm looking to find the limit which will make most of the cars even, then tweak the couple of cars thay are left

I have all Le Mans cars so I'll guess I'll have to chip in on this. Later today I'll do some testing at about 900 hp :)

And what have I started off with names lol :D

The racing will be excellant. Imagine this:

Pathetic Percy spins on the entry to the porsche curves. Geoff gets caught in the incident and is taken out himself suffering major engine damage. Tangy Tina charges past the crash, pursued closely by Bendy Betty. As the leaders brake into the first ford chicane, Slutty Suzan flys past them on fire screaming.

That is what all motorsport should be like

I will miss the first saturday pre season race as i am on holiday... hope i will still be aloud to join for the rest of the championship

thats fine,

thanks golfer for the speadsheet, ill get it in the op tomorrow

What im doing is taking 4-5 cars, doing laps starting at 800 hp, 700 hp, 600, 500 then when i think i have the field close narrow it down some

OK at a 907 hp limit, the results I got were in order:

Bentley Speed 8 - 1.18.192
Audi R8 Playstation - 1.18.425
Minolta - 1.18.631
Pescarolo C60 Hybride - 1.18.755
Sauber C9 - 1.18.792
GT one - 1.18.801
V12 LMR - 1.18.906
Nissan R92 - 1.18.982
908 - 1.19.154
Pescarolo Courage C60 - 1.19.417
Nissan R89 - 1.19.736
905 - 1.19.742
787B - 1.19.934
Jaguar XJR9 - 1.20.092
Audi R10 - 1.20.776

Pretty much all the cars were to there maximum power in this testing. The ones that had a lot more power though were limited at 907 hp. The Bentley despite being at a mere 859 hp (low compared to the rest) still predictable eased to the fastest time. The Audi R8 was surprisingly fast as well as the C60 hybride, with the 787B falling dramatically back (very confused about that one) and the 908 only making a low 1:19 too.

Overall I must say I'm inclined to stick with the 680 hp limit. I'll do some more tests this afternoon at 800 hp and see the results from that.

Maybe I should try a 970bhp limit then... surely, the Bentley must drop to the others' level when it can't get higher :)

Right, more testing done. This time at 798 hp. I must say I was quite startled to find that a lot of cars were faster than at 907 hp :irked:. Anyway results:

Speed 8 - 1.17.723
GT one - 1.18.186
Audi R8 Playstation - 1.18.749
908 - 1.19.239
Saucer C9 - 1.19.331
787B - 1.19.339
Pescarolo C60 Hybride - 1.19.466
Courage C60 - 1.19.549
Audi R10 - 1.20.655

This obviously isn't all of them yet. It's just I had to go out so I wanted to get them written down here incase I lose the paper it's all written on lol. I will update it with all the cars later. Either way the Bentley seems to be flying under any regulations. Very easy to drive and very fast :)

Maybe you should try with the higher bhp again... that can't be right, maybe you got used to the track more... ??!!

EDIT: And put it in the spreadsheet, please, that way we can see people's results much easier :)

That is true! Some cars are better with regular setups. If you increase hp the car goes crazy! So guys, last year regs are?

Last seasons regs were 450bhp. I thought they were stupid regulations. LMP cars on such a low amount a BHP. Dreadful

I think a really high BHP limit to handicap the Speed 8 will be best. Or ban it to stop Jamman taking back to back championships.

Also, watching the F1 practice. Ferrari have made their comeback. Everyone is going off and I think Alonso will win on Sunday. Soory Jamm.

Hmm I don't get the joke if there is one? It was 680 bhp lol. I would like to know the outcome of what is going to happen to the bentley sooner rather than later :)

And I'm going to go against the general feeling and acknowledge your spoiler text.

Don't count on it yet ;)

* SPOILER *

Jamman won in the GT-One. BK did not win in the Bentley. What's the issue? You should regulate the GT-One right? Simply put, some drivers are far better than others. Mav right? Put someone in the GT-One, have them get used to the car without downforce, they will win no matter what the HP cap is set at. We are all fighting driver experience and tuning as well as HP. Don't let the numbers fool you. Oh, and the 787 was always quick on race day despite it's recorded practice times right?

The Bentley is extremelly well balanced. Me and Jamman did some racing together and he drove that. He was untoucheable. It lacks the power but has the poise and traction for that not to matter. Its brilliant.

The 787B was very good in practice. It just was out done by the Oreca 908s and the GT-One's. Finally, I was dreadful in all practice but in racing, I am able to overtake well and defend my position. Its just the end results usually are quite poor because I make mistakes then over push the car to make up for the lack of speed I have and in turn crash. Statisitics usually go against drivers. End championship standings are what tell best your overall skill. Usually. I don'tt think cj should of beaten me but Monza was difficult. At Laguna I disconnected. Then no points at Indy because of the Pesky and at Suzuka I just crashed

WTF!?!?! It happened again!! I've just been practicing with MU. With 871 bhp I did a 1:17.9. With 798 bhp I did a 1:17.8

Indeed. As I said I've just been practicing with MU. I used Bentley. He used Sauber C9. When we had the same hp my fastest was a 1:17.8. He did a 1:19.3. The Bentley is in a different league no matter what the regulations. Which is why, if it doesn't get banned, I'm using it :P

it was, thats when then the '01 R8 was faster and nobody gave a **** about the green race car

ffs........ pick your car on what you want to drive , not what everyone is suspecting to half second faster in laptimes.

everyone is goin on about the same crap. now when i add 70 kg to the '01 R8 and Speed 8 and its not the fastest car i hope everyone is gonna be fighting over them when the GT-One will become the fastest car.

To me, this simply proves that where the Bentley is best is traction and cornering grip/balance. If the car has good traction then it will accelerate well, something not changed by less BHP. The same applies to corner grip. It is possible however that with the lower BHP, the car has even better traction as there is less wheelspin causing faster acceleration or that the higher BHP limit causes the car to be using more revs on the exit of the corner and the Bentley utilises its traction better from lower revs. That or you have learnt the circuit and car and know how to push better. Or a different possibility is that the different BHP settings make no difference at all and you just did something slightly different in one corner which gave you 0.1 seconds.

Exactly BK. Exactly.

Me and Mike still want to run in the Audi 05' for weeknight races and team up, it's a fun car. Lacks top speed but still a blast. I wish I didn't have to drop last season.

The Bentley is nowhere near as superior to the others as the R8 was. I'll take it for a spin in a moment at 680bhp, using the S3 regs to see which cars I actually have a setup for that works. So far, my favorite car, the Courage, is very good :)

And BK, I don't think you can trust the Brits to be too serious about using the Bentley...

EDIT: I think the general hype about the Bentley started when Johny got hold of the insane setup for it. Idk where he got it, but it's super effective.

It's not suspected to be half a second a lap quicker. It's generally acknowledged to be about three quarters of a second to a second a lap quicker among everyone who know how good it is.

Well I'm using the car which I think I can go fastest in and I like. Bentley ticks both of those boxes at the moment ;)

I used the Bentley the first time I joined this series, when it wasn't a championship. I always liked it :)

Anyone tried the C60 Courage yet? I've been having a great time in that car for ages, but it also seems to be quite good now... wtf..

So did I. In my first race in fact. Unfortunately I crashed with Jake and then got disconnected lol

I've tried it. I liked it too. With a good setup it could rocket :)

I can't get it to grip in turns. I do like it.

Well, maybe I have got the setup for it, currently second fastest car on my list. You can follwo it in the spreadsheet golfer posted, currently I'm the only one who's using it, lol.

At 970 bhp, the Bentley is clearly outmatched on the straight. There's no way that would be fair. So my next experiment will be 900bhp, and finding a setup for the different cars.
