OK, going to make a few things clear about this "all-star" race. It was not MY idea, I was approached by a guy from seetheair.com.
How he knew about my series, I've no idea. But he races in a Daytona prototypes league on that website.
I'm assuming he wanted a bit of publicity for that site, so he proposed that a few guys from my league (ALMS) and a few from his (well not HIS, he doesn't run the series, he just participates). I suggested that we involve a couple other leagues. And discovered that this is the only other series on GTPlanet to race LMP and Group C cars at this time. Which is weird because there's usually about half a dozen of them.
Amywho, I PM'd bk and asked if he wanted in.

No details other than that have been set.

I do NOT want this to turn into a war between our two series. It's supposed to be for the fun of it. ;)

It would be three series assuming it happens how we're planning so far.

I think four drivers per team, which leaves room for a crew chief/announcer person thingy from each team and an unbiased judge, which may be difficult to find seeing as they really can't be from GTPlanet.

Another option would be for this to be GTPlanet vs. seetheair.com. Which would mean we'd team up together.

That's about all I know.

And if bermudakid wants to start a new thread to discuss this in order to keep anybody from clogging up the threads, feel free.
I may end up doing the same if I feel the need to. I'll post here if I do.

I'd think anything over 40 would be excessive. Unlike you PJ, however, I'm not taking my participation for granted. ;)

I'd think someone such as yourself might want to show up focused and ready on Saturday at Spa. As in someone fast, hoping to make the all star team, and yet someone yet to record any good finishes of note in the series.

You are entirely right, but i've currently got exams, so my schedule is completely packed. I will try my very best to make it, but my practice time is limited. Considering my limited practice though, the fact that I can already do 56's, says something, doesn't it? Consistency is a different story, but i'm just hoping for a good race, to finally prove myself, as you say. Been running around missing races, and finishing poorly otherwise due to all sorts of things. I need a cleanser, and what better way than to take the fight to Jam?

Or somebody that raced in both series. *hint hint*

To PJ: I'm just busting your chops. Just remember, consistency! When we were both driving gt ones at la sarthe I think we were going the same speed, which I was very happy with. In other words, I know you're fast and good, lol.

Plus you can't be a chump and win in javs fia league. Word to the wise about your race at monaco coming up: get your pole, and set a deliberate pace. If you don't speed into the pits, and if you avoid all damage, I guarantee you'll win. Its possible to not get damage all race, just focus and when you gas it a little too early, just make the sacrifice and let back off.

Also, I know my chances at Spa are nil. Therefore, I'm already focusing on Laguna and la sarthe. My hopes of beating Seb anywhere are slim to none, but if there's any two tracks where its possible, its those two.

You're right again. My win in Daytona, was thanks to some supernatural pace and consistency that I had, and luck, that 2 of the guys ahead of me crashed a few laps in, and traffic allowing me to get a double pass for the lead, and to stay there until the finish.

Monaco, with me heading for low 1:26's, pole and win is very much possible. There's no way past at Monaco, so you're right, clean, consistent pace, no damage, and a win is inevitable. Will do... 👍

I think if I drive consistently at Spa and Sarthe I should do pretty well there. Probably middle ish, maybe a tad higher at Sarthe.

I know Sarthe is the one track that I'm the least far off with my times. Most of the other tracks were about 4 seconds slower than the fastest driver, Sarthe is I think a mere 2. Come to think of it, I haven't practiced on Sarthe for ages.

im still deliberating about wx at spa, i absolutely hated suzuka in the rain, but it would go against my own rules & i think wx is cool ! jsut not for a whole race

In the other lmp series we do quaifying on a 50% wet track 20 mins. Then settings are set to 6 and can't remeber the other setting will look later.

It's quite cool to see peoples different threat choices during qualifying some think it might dry and go out of sets etc

This may be on the right track here.

If we start with rain, it may taper off as the race goes.

Also, im hoping for an extended season finale finally, last season we didnt do it. 30 laps ftw

If the weather changed I wouldn't mind it.. Racing 100% wet for an hour kind of sucks imo.

yea agreed to a point. it's fine once a season but not every week. Who else is in favor of starting the weather at 50% and seeing what happens on race day? i think it will go down or at least stop raining if we do

An All-star race with 4 drivers from this series... aww, I bet I don't qualify as one of our top-4 drivers then...

And I thought you were Jeff Gordon fan, not Harvick fan... ;)

The thing is, though, that Mav is barely part of our series. To me he is more of a term and phenomenon than an actual driver. He has posted less than 10 times in the thread and he only shows up to 25% or less of the races. It's probably because we race at a bad time for him, but still...
Besides, we have Jamman anyway.

Bombe for what its worth I consider you and I pretty much dead even in terms of driving skillz..... I've just had a better car most of the last few months (bentley vs. courage/787)

Oh and btw, if we all have R8's..... Jamm will look more human. Not saying me and Tiss will be beating him, but it will be much closer than recent race results.

1 more edit: Bombe, Kevin Harvick for life!!!!!

And Peter? I'd love to go represent the series, but i'd have to get consistent first.

Why are you so obsessed LOL.? We want the best and me you and others have not even won races..

However if the.chosen track.is.Nurburgring I feel.I should be considered :sly:

Idk where you place yourself...
You have 3 race finishes, and none of them were in the top 5 IIRC.

Becoming consistent isn't done on a day-to-day basis.

The problem is, you make all these awesome promises and hype yourself up then you never turn up on race day.

I really hope Peter demolishes you(not just you Aqua, the whole lot of you guys) on Saturday to see what all you will say. He's won 2 races in the last 2 weeks so I wouldn't be surprised if he beats you.

I'm not even racing in the series anymore. :P

And where did it say I doubted his speed (judging by the way your saying that you hope he demolishes them)? I know he is fast.

I have given him mad props and encouragement, and I fully acknowledge he would have to have some major issues for me to beat him at Spa. You haven't seen PJ in our series though AK, he has indeed had major issues in the races he has attended and finished around 9th or 10th. He is now capable of winning I believe though.

I know.:)

Never said you did, but you did doubt his consistency, which is another factor needed in demolishing you all.;)

When we all have equal cars the gap is inevitably going to be a lot smaller Tiss is rarely online to test with, but from history when we have tried the same cars it's been tenths as the difference between us :)

Totally agree, I expect you to still be .5 to 1.0 faster than me, I don't wanna come off too dismissive here lol. What I really want next season, is for you to use a car like the 908, and for me to use the R8, so we can be equal in pace and have more epic battles like we did practicing for S4...

My 2 regrets from last season are a. getting taken out at SSR5 and b. not making the Monza race happen with 8 guys. Both for the same reason, we'd have been fighting for wins, lol.

I feel a race coming on, with everyone in the same exact LMP at like 100 HP or 1000HP.........................

I'm down for a tuning off, 908 1 make race.[/QUOTE]

908 is lame, so it wont be that.

In other news, its that time of the year! ROLEX 24 Practice @ Daytona ! ! ! !

Race tracks + College = EPIC
