Well you could stick to the old strategy if you want, of using softs every stint. That should put you on an 8-9 stopper at Sarthe :sly:

No way to do 4 laps a stint on softs? Any way a 1 stop or 2 stop on hards will work? Or we gonna be on mediums lol.

Haha, you could try. 3 laps absolute maximum of softs I'd say. Furthest I've gone was nearly 3 laps but the tyres completly ran out of rubber on the run to Porsch Kurves and I turned in but the back end just let go lol. I then struggled to get above 100mph round the rest of the Kurves without spinning lol.

1 stop, no. 2 stop you could try but as tiss pointed out last page they are 10 seconds a lap slower than softs, probably about 5 slower than mediums so you could very easily gain a pitstop with the speed advantage of mediums.

So yeah, as I said on the last page, mediums will probably become the tyre of preference :)

How much slower are mediums than softs?

So, now the tyre wear is exactly as it should be. Good timing I had by leaving before the update then, lol :P

Jenson Button style is needed. TC will help somewhat. Even with grip set to low the tire wear is still excessive.

Not much, to be honest. Maybe i'm wrong, because Jamman has converted me to using Traction Control in these LMP's, but the mediums seem to have a noticeable increase in grip, and are now, call it 5 seconds the most slower than softs.

Peter.

Seems about right since hards are 10s slower then softs at la Sarthe..

With a Viper GTS-R at nurb gp/f 4-5 seconds separate the compounds....

I have found the gap to be much.....different......than 10 seconds from soft compounds to hard. LOL, I'm not telling anyone NOTHIN about my pit strategy thoughts!

Lol! Sneaky sneaky

Basically that means he's found the gap is less and he's going for hard tyres in the race. You don't have to be a brain surgeon to work that one out :sly:

The new tyre wear is wrong there is too much of a gap between sorts and yards. The quickest over long distants is still the sorts so all this talk about using RH is rubbish even if u have to stop 10th times in a race Lol.

I've got my information from the wsgtc series I'm in. We have done lots of tests..... And the sorts all ways come out on top.

Not sure if there will be big difference in an LMP car but supose a few tests could be done

I did some tests with mu675, testing our race strategy over a 17 lap race Distance we started on Racing Medium tyres on our 1st stint which lasted for me 5 laps and for mu675 4 laps i noticed one thing, if you pit one lap earlier it will break you up at the end of the race and pitting one lap later will get you behind someone but you can profit at the end of the race, the best way too approach the first laps is to be very smooth on the throttle and try to save tyres for the end of youre stint, mine strategy will be, 1st stint RM 2nd RM 3rd RM and last RS hope you guys will learn something from this guys.

Don't agree with that at all Mr. Paginas.

I've done some tests this morning @ 700hp. For me the results were:

  • Softs last 3 laps at Sarthe - would require 5 pitstops using them all race

  • Mediums last 4 laps - would require 4 pistops using them all race

  • Hards last 5 laps - would require 3 pitstops using them all race

  • The softs are around 1 - 1.5 seconds a lap quicker than the mediums

  • The hards are a further 2 seconds off the medium tyres

Either way you look at it, it's pretty close between them. Obviously you could mix and match tyres though so it's hard to say. Then along with the battles for position during the race.

I think I have a pretty good strategy lined up

I'm going to host a Race of Champions. The entry criteria forbids me from entering but Jamman, bombe, Jake all are allowed to enter if they wish so. I will create the thread soon. Save up some credits though. You are going to need to supply the cars yourself.

So this is becoming a major battle then between sorts and yards (see Paginas' post). Well, it beats having Jamman dominate. I think BK is good friends with Kaz. BK says that Jamman needs more tyre wear and then that is what he gets.... along with everyone else.

Way to steal my idea homme :sly: Nah, you should go for it, I wasn't going to try. But just think this one through unlike what you did with the tyre challenge, Rallycross series and FGT series ;)

Only 4 seconds between softs and hards!? Best i could get was within 10s... 3:34 on hards :(

I just managed to go 4 laps on the softs albiet a very hairy final few corners although that could easily be solved by adding more traction on or/and changed the rears to mediums. Getting more wear at the rears then fronts.

Well it looks like I won't be playing anything while I'm home for Christmas. There's only 1 HD TV in my house.
And my dads/my PC graphics card died so I brought my 6970 from my PC but he lost the power supply cables so it can't run the new card. -_-

La sarthe is great and all but has anyone tested somewhere else, Indy? Daytona, Mazda??? Spa. Suzuka ...........

You know my strategy ... its all about going fast if u have to stop 6 times a race oh well. :D 👍

I just go on what'll keep me on pace. Strategy is never a huge factor when I race. I might go softs the whole race.

We have a pretty long time before sarthe...BK would it be ok to try to recruit more drivers? I used to do a league with 3 or 4 other guys...they'd be a good addition to the league. A 16 car grid would be awesome.

I think BK and all other series vets always want as many recruits as possible Drum, sounds awesome.
