I was highly disappointed in my test run with the I-miev electric car.

If theres interest I can find a prize car to give out for the winner of the green championship. I don;t know what car yet, PM me if you have suggestions.

You do realize that the Tesla's range is very short, right?

We need to do a recreation of the Top Gear test where they put a Prius up against an M5/3(?) where the BMW just follows the Prius.

If the people would like a race at the Top Gear Test Track then the people will get a race at the TGTT. I know that in a normal race series at +150mph the crossover would be a major inconvineience (spelling fail) but this is no normal race series. So I would allow the track. Also, the lack of pit lane is perfect. That's why i will be holding a race at London.

I'm thinking of havin a 4 race season. The races will be roughly 1.5 hours. Tracks that will definately be entered so far are London. If people like TGTT then I will enter that but please people, watch out for the cones. As for the other tracks, I will be taking suggestions because I want everyone to have their share in the series. I'm looking for high fuel consumption circuits but SSR7 is not practicle. Im thinking of tracks with long straights where you are on the rev line for a long time. Eiger short track was where I had the idea for the series so a race there would be nice. But it's up to you now. I'll create a poll once we have had some suggestions.

Oh, and I can confirm to everyone that because we have enough interest in the series, the practice race WILL DEFINATELY GO AHEAD

Seems like a neat series. You can only race 600+hp cars so much honestly, sometimes a challenge of a different kind is great. Too bad I don't think I have time to try this, or I would.

Its like the license test. Its all well and good being able to beat your opponents in a video game when your all driving 900bhp plus cars that can go 200mph with ease and spin outs are often but its much harder to overtake when everyone in the series is driving an 200bhp, easy car to drive and crashes are unlikely and a slipstream provides little help. Because then its all about driver ability.

So is the I-Miev for sure. Haven't tested the Tesla, but in the I-Miev I used 1/4 of the fuel charge after 6 laps on the autumn ring. (Not to mention it was eating the tires up to make 2 minute lap times. This was on racing hards.)

Nurburg has got to be hard on fuel consumption & tires. I've put my low hp cars on nurburg & they have a tough time doing the up hill part... though if light enough I guess you can coast down the downhill parts. But it's also got a long straightaway.

Just to clarify, we're not doing this on comfort tires are we? LOL

LOL My bf tried the seasonal k-cup series last night & kept saying "this is like a driving mission". hahaha. He always says something's like a driving mission if you have to start in back & have more hp or some edge, than the competition only because they start way ahead of you.
But this is someone who just did his aspec professional championship in a used falken. He likes to be the underdog, as he says. It gawls him terribly to win a race because he has a better car, he considers it a failure. He usually chooses the least recommended car for any race. And then he gets angry at his bspecs for not being able to win the Mini Cooper race in the old version used Mini Cooper that he used in aspec.

tires as well as everything else are unlimited. Nurburgirng Nordschleifche at Midnight would be interesting. Maybe I'll have that in the calender

Hi golfer. This looks quite awesome actually. Will be a nice break from the hectic LMP races on Saturday nights. As much as I do enjoy them lol.

Question: Do we have to stop when we run out of fuel or can we just keep cruising at 50 mph and hope for the best?

When you run out of fuel, the race effectively begins because you just keep going and hope I won't catch you in my Insight. Although I'm not ruling anyone else out. I hope watermelon has put a spoiler on the back of her Autozam because then its like wacky racers. Spoiler on an FF is useless. But yeah keep going when you run out of fuel. Just remember what lap you ran out of fuel and I'll work out the MPG of the car. Then at the end of the season we will have a average MPG of each car, highest wins, and a points standings based on race position. Oh, and if you dont run out of fuel, tell me how much you had left to the nearest quarter of a tank. And don't lie

Now, would it be frowned upon to just cruise around the track at 60 in a high gear? Are we going to be required to push the cars to the limits? Or can we be creative in our sipping methods?

It wouldn't be frowned upon. It would be boring but not frowned upon. Any thing goes. Be as creative as you want but remember that the hybrids can do the full race distance without running out of fuel.
Oh and would people be happy if I increase the race length to 45 laps instead of the current 30 as that would make it hard for the hybrids? I want fuel saving techniques to me deployed en masse. Not just flat out 1.30s without risking a fuel run out. If you can make the end of the race in an LMP without running out then you can finish in just over half an hour so i'd rather we were looking at one hour and abit races.

sounds like fun im in

WEll, if I'm going to do nurburg @ midnight at all, ever, then I'd sure rather do it in a slow car! LOL I'm TERRIBLE on the night setting even on tracks I know - they look different in the dark!

I hope watermelon has put a spoiler on the back of her Autozam because then its like wacky racers. Spoiler on an FF is useless.

I do have a rear wing on the Autozam. It is wacky! But it's not an FF. It's an MR drivetrain. mid engine rear wheel. And believe it or not, the wing actually helps. Though for this race I would tone down the wackiness & lower the downforce, obviously. I'm not sure I'd put an FF car in this race. Not if I want to stay on the track after 10 laps. Seems like FF cars burn out hard front tires no matter how I drive them.

What happens when an electric car runs out of fuel charge?? Does it keep going just with lower power or what?

Electric cars I don't know about but Hybrids, when the battery runs out the normal engine just keeps on going.

I'm looking forward to the training race, but I think the lap count is still too low. I've driven 30 laps on Autumn Ring with the 120d now and my tyres were not even down to half while the fuel was close to 3/4. Maybe the Diesel has an extremely good mileage, but I think this is not the kind of challenge you want it to be.

On the other hand, let's see how I'll drive when all of you guys will pass me left and right. I sure can beat my tyres within 20 laps if I'm just using the driver side window often enough...

Its 45 laps now.

45 laps should make things alot more interesting:tup:. I tried some laps in a few different cars tonight. Torn between using a race modded Elise, NSX or going with a McLaren F1. The Elise will probably have better tire wear and fuel consumption as its lighter and has roughly half bhp of McLaren. However on fresh tires McLaren was about 3.5 seconds per lap faster.

However have a feeling that once we reach closing stages the McLaren's tires will be really heavily worn so should become quite a handful. Still should be fun to drive at least and might take a gamble and use it hoping that the fuel will last to the end.

Ok, can everyone send me a friend request over PSN in preparation for the pre-season race. Put it is regarding the Eco-series in the message. If my friend list is full, send me a PM and I'll sort it out. The reason I'm sorting this so early is incase people are away from their playstation.

I'm not too sure I could do the races on sunday, how long do you expect the race will take?

hour and a half if the slow cars are better. Just over an hour if the fast cars can keep their tanks alive for the race.

Also, I've decided to lively up the races abit, I'm not going to be in a slow car for the pre-season race. I'm going to drive something fast with good MPG for its speed. Just so that the slow cars have to otherwise they will end up being beaten. If this proves to unbalance the race in the fast cars favour then I will impose regulations on car choice. In the full season I will be driving my CR-Z however.

I'm feeling the 240sx is a keeper. I ran around 25 laps on the track and I was getting pretty good times. Also I was on a good fuel usage pattern as I still had over half at that point. The tire wear was pretty good as well, FR cars seem to keep wear as even as it'll get, besides maybe an MR.

I have the feeling the two of us will have a race on our own... most of the grid seems to be about twice our PPs, with the Tesla, the RX-7 and the Elise about 1/3 faster, I'd say. Looking forward to the AZ-1 in the roster, although I can't see why someone would chose this car for an Eco-friendly race. It's so much fun going sideways in it but not as much trying to preserve tyres... ;-)
