I have the feeling the two of us will have a race on our own... most of the grid seems to be about twice our PPs, with the Tesla, the RX-7 and the Elise about 1/3 faster, I'd say. Looking forward to the AZ-1 in the roster, although I can't see why someone would chose this car for an Eco-friendly race. It's so much fun going sideways in it but not as much trying to preserve tyres... ;-)

LOL. I'm still testing, & considering a few cars. So don't get your heart set.

I wanted to use the I-miev... but I don't think the fuel charge will hold long enough, and it's strictly electric, not a hybrid. But I've been doing more testing with it.

I thought of the autozam because it's terribly light. Clearly drifting it around wouldn't be the right thing to do in this race!! But the caterham won't be able to go top speed because of that either... I'm assuming that was chosen because of it being light.

But I'm not terribly familiar with all the cars, and it seems like other cars that can be that light are FF, and I burn the tires out on them much faster than the zam.

I want to choose one that nobody else has chosen, because I think that would defeat the purpose.
For that reason I may just throw caution to the wind & go with the i-Miev, because it's electric, slow, and nobody else has wanted to use it. LOL

Agreed - I've actually seen that someone considered the 120d before I've joined, but I honestly didn't see the post before I joined, so sorry...

I'm a little bit anxious about the speed difference of the roster - most of the tracks are quite short, so there will probably be lots of overtaking and lapping. We really need a blue flag.

It was me, I wouldn't worry though. I'm probably going to go with my 135i or 330i. Not sure how they'll fare though.

Yeah and on the autumn ring, overtaking opportunities are few and far between. The main stretch comes to mind and other than that, it'll require the slower car to intentionally leave their racing line for the faster car to get though. Before we start we should make sure that everyone is on the same page in the passing and getting passed aspect.

Ok, I know that you can't test fuel consumption off-line so you won't be testing but I just want to make sure this doesn't get lost and that we all know about the pre-season race and that we are all attending.
 
You actually can test fuel consumption, just do an A-spec one make race and set fuel and tire wear to whatever. I think that's what you were getting at :x
 
no idea if PSN will be up for our pre season test at Autumn Ring on sunday but can everyone post here to tell be if I should be expecting them. I will host the race regardless but will not start unless at least 5 people show
 
I should be able to make it assuming PSN is up. Will definitely run an Elise rather than using a McLaren I was considering earlier. Tried a 20 lap race today as was nervous about tire wear and when I reached around lap 17 the F1s tires my tires were just too badly worn to maintain any sort of reasonable pace. Every time tried to get on the throttle on corner exit just ended up doing 360s instead. Hoping that using an Elise which I was originally considering instead will be kinder to its tires even if lap times are slower.

Depends on the time, I can probably make it but i just realized its mother's day. Got some stuff to do here and there. I'll try my best.
 
Yeah I think the race will be postponed due to world wide lack of PSN. Hopefully it will be up but we have 24 hours to go. On the other hand, what is mor enviromentally friendly than using no fuel at all.

P.S. the races will be at 19:00 GMT with the lobby opening at 18:00 GMT. Watch out if you are in the UK. That is time zone GMT +1 hour. In other words, the lobby opens at 1 pm EST or so I believe

Bad timing for me. In anticipation of PSN being down for longer I made plans for tonight and won't be able to join the test race. Can only hope more people won't make it so there still slots available next week.

PSN is only up in some areas and my area isn't one of them. Grrr some of you will be testing right now and I'm stuck on F1 2010 having a surprisingly good run at Brazil as Kobayashi
 
Don't know if I can make the first race as i've got exams on until the 17th so i'll be back for later in the series.

Oh, I believe that the last race will likely fall on the day of the Canadian GP. considering that last years race is what Pirelli replicated, then this could be a 10 stop race each!! So we won't race then. VR, atleast you will definately race once

yeah, Enlish Language paper 1, French listening in the afternoon. then RE on tuesday, unit 8. On thursday I have French reading in the morning (grrrrrr this is 25 minutes and it takes 40 minutes to get in before 9, then go home after 30 mins and come back at 1), Biology Unit 3 in the afternoon. Then it moves on to the next week
 
I've got 2 english and 1 RE in the first week. Second week i've got 2 spanish, 1 english lit, another RE and multiple choice business. The toughest week for me is week 3 as all my exams that week are either needed for next year or just generally important.

Will you have to exit the race if you run out of fuel? I ask this because someone with a 908 or X1 could get 20 laps ahead of everyone in slow cars, and go fifty MPH the rest of the way to win.
 
if you run out you can keep on rolling rolling rolling to victory. It'd be boring though so bring a headset. And I can confirm, we will finally be RACING!!!!! Autumn Ring on sunday. time is in the OP. please send me a friend request over PSN now as I will hold this in a closed room so no-one can join randomly and pit and win
 
I've been thinking that I may just use the I-Miev, for the simple reason that it's an electric car and I think it ought to be represented. haha. I didn't have any hopes of winning on my swiftness anyway. :) I figure the electric charge will run out before 45 laps on autumn ring... but what they hey.
