GTP WRS-Online Event 2 : FXXza Irresistibile! - February 5, 2014

Try TCS 1 or higher, might help your tyre life and make it a bit easier when the tyres wear down.

I tried it on TCS 1 for a bit last night not much difference in lap times, but didnt run enough to check tyre wear.

I tried until TCS 8, but the difference in grip between tyres on 10 or on 7 is too big.

The car gets undriveable when the rear tires go under 8, as i use a DS3 and cannot smooth control throttle it gets really hard to get the car on the track. As for now i will plan at least 5 pitstops.
What do you use for throttle? Back when I used the DS, I found that R2 (and L2 for brake) worked best for me.

I've tried this but was not succesful. I'm using triangle for throttle and R2 for braking

Hi, I`m new to the WRS, ran events 121 and 122 while on vacations, but now it is harder for me to participate because of the timezone differences between where I am and each of the 3 room zones. For me it is a choice between 6pm (EU), 1am (NA) or 6am (NZ), which is hard to do.

I know a lot of people probably also have to adapt their daily routine to race online, and I could try waking up really early for the 6am race, but just a quick newbie quesiton: room times have always been like this? Any chance to create a new one in the future or moving the start times a bit?

Unfortunately no. The AU slot is very new and we are struggling for minimum numbers and the other two time slots are well established going on 2.5 years now... They aren't moving. They may shift for a bit during daylight savings changes if Your zone changes at a different date.

We have weekend events at different times monthly if the weekly events don't work for you.

when I pitted in last weeks event there was no option for racing hard tires. Did anyone else have this problem?

M'name's not showing up on the registration.

Please fill this out:

Registration Instructions
...
The following must be performed only one time per driver (not per event):
  • Submit the 3D3 Racing Online Driver Database Entry Form. Your information will need to be verified before you are added to the db and before your ID will appear in the registered driver table above. You can view the official driver database here.

Not that I know of, but I didn't pit so I wouldn't have seen it. I have heard this bug mentioned in other threads, but usually only the lobby host.

Notice!

We've done some testing and the 2nd-stint SS tires can be as bad as SH tires, due to the pit-stop bug.
Therefore, after the first stint you are allowed to switch to Racing Hard tires. We will still qualify and race the first stint on Sport Soft tires.

This has been added to the OP:

Car Selection Method
  • Car Selection Method: Garage
  • PP Limit: 636
  • Max Power Limit: 828 HP
  • Minimum Weight: 1150kg (1155kg stock)
  • Drivetrain: MR
  • Tires: Sport Soft with the option to switch to Racing Hard after lap 8

Note that after switching you will likely be slightly faster in the corners but the braking distances will be longer. I'm not sure why.

Thank you @Gravitron and @hasslemoff for the extra testing and coming up with a nice solution. Given the formation lap is lap 1 this means drivers can pit starting at the end of lap 9 on the lobby lap count right?

As far as procedure goes, for the pre race session we will allow tires up to RH so drivers can practice on new SS or "used" RH tires. Just before quali all drivers will exit track and the restriction will be set to SS. All drivers should switch tires to SS from the driving options screen and then enter pits. Once all drivers are in pits, the director will switch the restriction to allow RH and then hop in and start the event. This way we are sure everyone qualifies and starts race on SS.

Somehow remind yourself to switch tire compounds during your stop in the race. I guarantee at least one or two will forget and have to pit again almost immediately. It has happened to me in the heat of battle. Put a sticky note on your screen if you have too. :sly: this is where a level headed crew chief would be nice. Too bad the game doesn't let us input our default strategy somehow ahead of time (like pit N, add X liters and change to Y tires).

For practice on Tuesday we will run some short 5 lap races with all SS tires. Others we will start on SS and require a lap 1 pit and switch to RH.

The only thing that baffles me is that this car was sold on slicks so why we running on sports? Not for road use and pretty much a race car.

The race follows the TT, so your question is best asked to Vagabond who came up with the combo :)

...I left a couple guys in there, but I'm gone now, so I'm not responsible for what happens. :dopey:

Well its either:

a) Because I'm evil
b) I thought it provided a better challenge

Your choice. :)

There is no right answer.

The right answer is actually both of the above. :embarrassed:

If I recall though, grip on racing hard is higher, but drops off a cliff once you pass the limit whereas SS tires have a more gradual progression.

Used SS tires post pit are pure evil though.

Then there is also the question of why on earth this car is on SH when you buy it in GT6...

Got a question I can't decide if I should run this race. I know I haven't been able to get a handle on it and might not be able run that well. I wanted to try to do everything and race every week but this week not my cup of tea. What u think my best option and would I be missing out on anything but chance race one week. I know you don't run points or anything but just checking if if make if difference.

You're welcome to sit one out and return as often as you'd like. The car is a monster, but with not much draft on the Real setting, knowing your brakepoints is probably the best way to get through clean.

I was on the fence too, but I think I might run it now. I need the experience, especially in a car I'm not 100% comfortable with.

Agreed. I bought the car just for the event and this is my first time driving it. Caught me by surprise, the little beast. But as Gravitron mentioned, knowing when and where to break really is crucial.
