GTP WRS-Online Event 2 : FXXza Irresistibile! - February 5, 2014

Good race for me. Unfortunatelly I had to pit twice because I wasn't offerd RH tires. When I tested a pitstop during practice I was able to choose them :-( Since lap 27 I had no more traction on the rears.
Never the less I was even leading for about 20 secs, then I got nervous and spun out of Lesmo 1:banghead:
After all I was happy to finish, last week I got DC. Even made a podium in room C thanks to @Napalm_LT's fuel consuming driving style ;)

Room open.

Hey

Is it the official race or with another car? (unofficial)

It's just I'm still stuck at work and concerned i wont get the update done in time so wondering if the official race is on or not?

It is interesting thing with fuel. I noticed that adding 17 l is enought for 30 laps in the practice. Due to formation lap I added 20 l, but was out of fuel in Lesmo 1 :banghead:
It was my second start and could be first wictory ...

It's going to be an unofficial race. Since Jon, Lucas and I all have raced the FXX, we've let Ian choose between the Ferrari GTO or the FXX. Looks like we're going with the GTO 👍

Hey guys

Sorry but I spent my last 2 million on the FFX I don't have a GTO

I will definitely sign up for next week though!

My driving was really messed up but the finale result was more thans OK fort me. Braking and brakingpoints was the main problem. Mostly in Ascari were i spun twice because the rear was all over the place and just hit the Grass. I felt more comfortable on SS then on RH.
Gold tot zee my fellew 3rd division driver IRT_MrG finish right behind me in 5th.

I had fun but it was sometimes nerve wrecking.

Well, I've been complaining about that "missing tire choice during pit stop" problem for over a week and only one other person saw it before the FXX races started. During the racing yesterday we had the issue pop up with tons of people. Well, it looks like I am no longer alone. :boggled:

If it is a virus that I passed on to other people during pre-race meetings, my bad. That's why employees should always wash hands before returning to work...and you thought that sign in every public restroom was only a formality. See what happens when you don't wash your hands? People stop getting the proper tires on Ferrari's. :sly:

I'm burning mine.

And what is with all the FXX hate AFTER the race? I was complaining to High Heaven about this brick on wheels more than anyone during the TT and practice; :dopey: but after about 100 laps of practice I soon got the hang of it and could go the entire 31 laps without doing any 360's. :D

Just finishing this hard combo was a great achievement for me.

I agree, the car was a handfull! I must say though that I enjoyed every single second behind the wheel! I managed to put over 1,200KM's on the odometer! I would vote to re-do this race in a second! I have two of them in my garage and will probably go and buy another one or two!!!

NA results to come guys. Just a few reported incidents to be checked over and details to be filled in. In terms of racing, I know alot of people had a less than positive relationship with this one :mischievous: But I really loved every minute like Al. Monza is probably my favourite track and had a fairly solid pace, and good consistency in both races, happy with 2 podiums by the end of the night :). The win was on the table in NA. Was very sorry when I saw Maverick was unable to take RH because we had an intense battle all through the first stint. Pitted lap 14, and came in behind Bart who was in ahead of me. After that, just worked on solid laps and didn't lose my gap.

Then out of no where I'm suddenly in sight of Bart! I think he span in 1st chicane and I closed into draft range. Managed (somehow ) to keep up with him for a few laps, then he got held up in traffic and I seized the opportunity to take the lead. Lasted a few laps, but Bart certainly wasn't going away, with maybe 4 or 5 laps to go he took the lead back, and a few very minor mistakes was all it took to lose draft again. Finished only 3 seconds behind, but I'm very happy overall with the race and was intense racing from start to finish. Gunna post a video in a bit of my fastest lap (was the fastest of both EU and NA I think?).

@oink83 , your video stream I watched a few laps. Your stream at whatever fps you published looks better than my ps3 does in bumper cam. I suspect something might have happened to my PS3 or maybe monitor. I hated driving using hood cam. Going to swap in a different PS3 or monitor. If that doesn't work I'll ship you one of each and you can stream to me and I will play remotely.

My FXX is already at the wreckers being compacted into a coffee table. Could not get a handle on this one and somehow every single time I spun out I ended up in the middle of the track being used as a pinball by the next ten drivers to go past.

Capped at youtubes 30fps rate. I watch on the monitor at 60 though.

I would vote to do this race again aswell as i missed it!!:grumpy:

I put lots of time into this, and really looked forward to the race, it was a real disappointment in how it all ended up. The first bad news in the race was losing the hard racing tire option lottery, then my game freezing up and having to do a hard reset. I had no connection issues or lagging to even indicate this might happen. The one thing I can take away from all the laps, is that it should add confidence in handling future events with high speed cars that are pretty tough to tame.

PS3 crashes, crappy monitors, poor internet connection, broken steering wheel, tire choice issues, glitches... an endless and annoying list of possibilities.
VS real life:
Ever flat spot a tire and have to run with it? Blown tire, parts falling off, running out fuel, engine problems, suspension breaks, no brakes, and then there's real grass, mud, dirt, sand, other cars and concrete walls if something goes wrong.
Never mind injury and life and death concerns. That's the real world! (careful what you wish for).

I have a hard time understanding when someone complains that a car cost to much.?
Lets see; if I had a real any Ferrari in my garage:drool:, would I torch it??? :dunce:

The endless list of real world possibilities makes the little problems in online racing laughable... (yet understandable, not to be without compassion).
Guess it's our version of "real world racing" and the pain is all relative.
Count your blessings young ones, some of us were lucky if we had slot cars as a kids.
...just saying.

Side note: Something I learned in the NA race about fuel settings while pitting. The mistake I made on fuel quantity when pitting in the EU race was still at the same quantity in the NA race.
I accepted it without resetting and ended up fuel misering my way to the finish line.

I'm really starting to dislike qualifying.
It takes me at least 2 to 3 laps before I'm up to speed and able to put down a decent lap time, by the rules, so the 6 or 5 minute qualifying is a struggle for me (so far). How the heck are so many guys able to put down such fast laps without a decent couple of laps to warm up? Impressive!
Guess I'll have to work on my one lap warm ups and then be able to throw down a fast run in under 5-6 minutes.
Any suggestions?

Arrive earlier? I had exactly one warm-up lap, despite joining the lounge 45min before quali, and I bet the other stewards were in the same boat as it was quite stressful trying to figure out if it was one room or two.

You guys can just show up and drive. :P

Also had 1.5hr practice sessions on Mon and Tues night.
