Guys... we're thinking of starting something new and a little different.

After each Wednesday event we're going to give you guys 48 hours to post race pictures (still photos) and then on the weekend the admins will pick our winner for photo of the week. That picture will become the title pic for the thread and all submitted pictures will be posted in the highlights post on the first page. Each driver can only submit one to three pictures each week so choose wisely and they have to be from the EU or NA official races. They can be "photoshopped" or straight from GT5.

Anyone willing to give this a go this week? All in good fun of course.

PS> We also reserve the right to use any of these pics to promote our events elsewhere (hint: that's the real goal ) so if you submit a pic you are expressly giving us permission to use it. You can put your tag/initials or a small stamp on it, but keep it discrete. If we use the picture outside of our event threads we reserve the right to put GTP, WRS and/or 3D3 stamps on them as well.

Cool. I'm going to get started with a pic myself, but I'm sure I won't win as my talent lies elsewhere (still searching ).

No no no no no. Bad advice on swapping. If he takes the drive out of one PS3 and sticks it into another, it will get formatted immediately upon turning the system on. Hard drives are formatted to a particular PS3 so they won't work in others without being wiped and formatted automatically.

Actually it does ask before it formats it. Basically the other PS3 is a slim model and it would require me to format the system partition and reinstall the system software (ask me how I know this :-)). I believe the data would be preserved but I don't want to take a chance when I can just slip in another drive (I have a cupboard full of these things) before shipping it off to repairs.

I have repaired a previous PS3 with a heat gun and new thermal compound on the heatsinks but it only bought me a few more months. That was a true YLOD too whereas this is a blinking red (general hardware failure) so I don't have the energy (or parts bin) to play around with it. The fans are running and it wasn't on that long so I don't think it's an overheating issue, and nothing obvious when I looked inside (had to open up the Blu-Ray drive to get my GT5 disk out :-().

I chose the repair option rather than replace as this is a CECHE01MG model which still plays PS2 games (and also they require the original drive if you go that route). My kids still play a lot of the PS2 games so they vetoed the upgrade (downgrade).

Thanks for the offer of cars etc. It's going to be a bummer for a couple of weeks without a machine. I can't really steal the other machine as my kids use that one (too) for LBP etc. etc. in our family room and wouldn't be very happy if it disappeared off to the gym where my Sparco and DFGT setup lives.

A quick note on the NA race. We haven't published the NA race results because there is an incident under investigation at the moment. We should have a resolution and official results by the end of the day tomorrow if real life responsibilities don't get in the way.

You guys have another until 8:00 PM pacific tonight (48 hours after the end of the NA race) to submit and then the judging will begin. I'm thinking about making an anonymous (well anonymous to the public) pole to pick a winner and open voting for 48 hours after the submission deadline. That way the group will decide on their favorite.

Yah, that's what I was referring to.

I have to give each picture a name in the show room so people know what they are voting for... And by the way, you can vote on best pic even if you didn't take part in the race. But to vote you must be on the official GTP_Registry.

Hadn't thought about it. I think it's best if we keep our tally and results anonymous in case some people just want to vote anonymously... but if you want to say who you voted for voluntarily I don't see why it would be a problem.

No Al, that's just human error. I'm doing all this by hand (setting up the form) and somehow I just missed putting in your entries. I've fixed it... Sorry about that.

If anyone who already voted wants to vote for Al's pictures you can just resubmit the form... only your last entry counts.
