There are 4 guys on team WRS in the lists above that run in the ORCA series and thus could run for that team which will equal the fields and then just about everyone would make the final event. We'll figure that out when the official sign ups go live on the 15th with all the other details. At that point we'll ask drivers to commit or sign up to an alternates list if they cannot commit.

Anyone on the above list would prefer (or not prefer) if we move the event start time back one hour to match the normal ORCA time slot. That would be 19:00 GMT / 2:00 PM Eastern / 11:00 AM Pacific.

We'll stick with the original proposed time unless we get a strong favorable response to the alternate time. This event should last between 90 minutes and 2 hours if we have a break between the two rounds to figure out results and communicate round 2 room assignments and to manage entry on track with ballast etc. We could shorten the preliminary round a bit if there is a strong desire to shorten the event time.

We are going to be announcing the details of the official event on January 13 with the final start time and releasing all the details on the 15th along with the track announcement and asking for official confirmation of sign ups starting at that time.

Anyone still on the fence by the 15th can sign up as a reserve/alternate and will still get in as long as they can commit prior to January 18th when Team WRS will be running their pre-qualifiers and the total number of drivers will need to be locked down. At that point any remaining alternates that can't commit will be fill ins for last minute cancellations.

I can make any of those times work on a Saturday. 👍

For those of you that didn't know already the track is going to be Fuji Speedway GT. The first stage of this special event is an offline time trial which is now underway for both teams. You can participate in the time trials whether or not you plan to participate in the races on the 28th. Only requirement is that you be a registered driver in the ORCA series or the registry (in the case of the WRS time trial).

A final event sign up sheet will be posted in the next 48 hours. We'll ask drivers to commit to the event one way or the other by Monday Jan 23rd. So the percentages in the interest checks above need to be converted into "committed" or "reserve".

At this point it looks like we may have 30 drivers in total (15 per team). We'll limit each race to 5 drivers per team and thus 10 drivers per lounge (3 lounges) which should help minimize the impacts of the "lag" bug. The time trial events will help determine which lounge each driver is assigned to so it's important that everyone taking part put a decent effort into the time trials.

The grids will be split into groups of 6 drivers per team (12 drivers per lounge).
The split will be determined by intra-team time trial results with the fastest 6 drivers in lounge A.

Registration Changes

If you want to change your registration just click on the registration link and fill out the form again and submit with new values. Your last entry will override any previous entries.

Cancellations

If for some reason, after you register for the event, you are unable to attend the race please post in this thread so we can update the registration list and make the spot available to another driver. Also click the registration button above and complete the form again selecting only "cancel" as your time slot.

OK guys the details are all coming together for the special event. 👍 Note that the time has been moved back 1 hour (2:00 PM Eastern / 11:00 AM Pacific / 19:00 GMT). See the event details post which has been updated with the details on the brackets, points and timing of the stages of this event.

Stage 1 is already underway and both teams are competing in a time trial event that will determine how the teams are split into three lounges for round 1 of the main event:

Team WRS: GTP_WRS (GT5) Week 49 : TZ2, TZU
Team Orca: ORCA Alfa Z-Cup - Special Event Time Trial - Fuji TZ2

Here's what we need from you now...

Confirmation:

We need confirmation from each of you that expressed interest as to whether or not you are going to make the race.

Use this google form to update your status. This registration link and the current list of drivers and their registration status can also be found on the first page in the Driver Registration post.

If you are not sure at this point you can set your status as 'Reserve'. As a reserve you have until 11:59 GMT on Tuesday January 24th to change your status from 'reserve' to 'confirmed' and guarantee access to the special event races. If you cannot confirm by the deadline you can withdraw completely by changing your status to 'cancel' or remain a reserve and fill in on race day *if* another driver has a last minute cancellation. We need to publish the final brackets by Wednesday the 25th so we need final counts by that time and will close new registrations the night before.

Time Trial:

Please participate in your teams time trial competition and give it your best effort. Your submitted time for the time trial will determine which lounge you race in for round 1 and thus which drivers you race against.

Lounge Friends List on PSN:

The 3D3 lounges will be used to host the races and you will need to be on the friends list of all three PSN accounts to participate in the events. Send your friend requests ASAP. Note that after the even the friends lists of these accounts will be cleared for future special events.

Do you have the correct thread? There are posts from all week just above yours and the OP was just updated yesterday.

You are eligible for this event as a member of team WRS if you are on the official GTP_Registry and you are eligible for team ORCA if you are a registered driver for that series or a previous season if you get the go ahead from Brandon the series director for ORCA.

Could you guys use the google form instead of the in thread sign up sheets moving forward. Check out the new driver registration post on the front page of this thread for details.

At this point we are no longer taking % availability as we need to know who is in and who is out. If you are not sure and can't commit you'll have to change your status to "reserve" at this point. If you can commit by next Tuesday (Jan 24) you can change your status back to confirmed. If you can't commit by then you will only get in the final event if there is another cancellation.

And if you are going to participate in the race you need to participate in one of the two team time trials. Anyone who does not submit a lap in the time trial event will be placed in Group C, but it will be more fair if everyone is properly assigned based on their speed so I'm hoping everyone can run the time trial.

EDIT: I think both of you already did use the form Anastasis is "Confirmed" and Diabolical is "Reserve". 👍 Thanks. Moving forward do just that and just put a note in the thread if needed with any comments (and don't bother copying the sign up sheets as they are out of date now).

Given where we're at as far as confirmed drivers we're going to put a hard cap of 24 total drivers for the event. Having 25 - 27 will just be a hard amount to split into three lounges and given the "bug"/lag we don't want any room over 12 drivers.

All the drivers that are confirmed as of now are definitely guaranteed spots. If/when we hit 24 anyone who hasn't confirmed will only be able to take part as a reserve. There are several drivers that can run on either team so the next three drivers to confirm are guaranteed spots regardless of the team.

We'll update the bracket system to reflect only two lounges of 12 each (6 per team). The top 3 finishers from each team in lounge B will run lounge A for the 2nd round. The bottom 3 finishers from each team in lounge A will run lounge B for the 2nd round.
