The last few rooms to open up were for qualifying purposes and since I am just racing in the first Support Race I don't need to qualify. So I decided to open up a practice room...

Honestly, I recommend you do qualify even if you don't "need" to do it. It will be good for you... at some point you might "need" to do one and you'd have one under your belt. They are fun man, you're missing out by skipping it.

I concur. Qualifying is a unique experience and IMO makes you a better racer. At the very least, it's great practice for keeping your cool under stress. 👍

...AND... People that don't pre-qualify are ordered at the back according to handicap. This is only possible in the GT3 class, GT1 you *have* to pre-qualify to show car control, even if after the deadline.

Still 3.5hrs...

Thanks... Practice is open for tomorrow right?
There will most certainly be rooms for practice open, yes. When exactly just depends on who's available, but with EU guys' Fri night being your mid-day, I would image there should be a room open *somewhere* from your mid-day to your midnight.

I can just start a room right?
Yes, and then come here and post the number so people can find it easier. 👍

But before you do, you might change the country selector to ALL and then change the track filter to Silverstone and see if you recognize any.

I'm keeping the list updated, this is how far we have got, and there's about 3 hours to go.

So it's no different from a normal week...I'll be put in the back. :D That's where I'm comfortable. I always start last. In fact, I don't think I have ever qualified in a position higher than last for any WRS race event. I'd rather just start in the back on race day than have someone waste their time to watch me do laps all just to tell me I'm 🤬 slow and I qualified last. In fact, if they go by handicap, I think I have a better chance not to start in the back.

GT3 qualification window is closed.

This wraps up all pre-qualification for the race, so here are the results:

And a reminder on the GT1 results to have them all in one place:

We will have an update on lounges and splits soon. Well done to all who come to run a qualifying lap, has been interesting to see how people approached it. Some interesting trends showed up:
  • ~40% made an error in lap 2, compared with 12% in lap 1, and 16% lap 3.
  • 45% got their best lap in lap 3
Lap 1 was the "security" lap. Not too fast, and on colder tyres too, but trying hard to at least get a lap on the board without any penalty.
Lap 2 was the "let's go for it" lap. With a safe lap 1 in the bag, this is the all or nothing lap..and as you can see the lap where almost all the penalties came from.
Lap 3 was the "last chance pressure" lap. Our safe lap 1 won't get us very high on the board, and lap 2 we got a penalty, this has to be fast and safe. I guess the pressure was too much for a couple guys, as lap 3 had 3/3 of the thrown away laps, but for nearly a majority resulted in their best lap.

Looking forward to the racing this weekend, and we'll update you with split info soon.

I'd like to set up an "official" practice slot today. The practice race will be set long enough for people to run the whole 2.4 hour race if they want to, or drop out at any point they like. In this way, anyone wanting a nice long practice run for the support races can race that long then leave, or those wanting to practice a strategy for the full enduro can do the full length or as much as you want.

The practice race will start at 20:00 GMT today, so I'll have a lounge set up (if someone else doesn't have one already) at least 30 minutes before then and I'll post a lobby number. We will also take an opportunity to test a good start time, and time progression. Because the race will potentially last a long time, we can delay the start if you would like to join but are going to be a few minutes late, just be sure to post to the thread to let me know and we can hold up for a short while. This is open to both classes so will be good practice for traffic and draft, as well as strategy.

I'll be running even if I'm on my own, but it will be useful to know who is interested, so copy the below list and add yourself to it if you would like to join.

Full practice, 21st Feb @ 20:00 GMT

The results are 4 posts above yours. We will be using that grid for the practice race today, as well as the support races tomorrow.
I would love to join, but will not be home from work until about 30 - 60 minutes after you guys start. It is interesting that the GT3 qualifications have such a gap between those in the 58s, no 59s, and then a bunch of 00s.

edit, if I can get out of my 2 oclock meeting, I may make the start of your practice race.

I scheduled this practice in the usual EU weekly practice slot. I will not be on for an NA time, but you are of course more than welcome to run a practice then too, and feel free to do an interest check if that would suit you better 👍

Just letting you know, I don't think I will get time to do the enduro and havn't qualified yet either so I updated the form to 'no'. I'd still like to jump in on a support race though

Also, updated the form to swap to a GT3 for the 2nd support race
