Gotta get bob to break these in this week.

And it's funny to see the sign-up sheets organized by division trophies  It took me a double take to realize why things looked all mixed up to the norm!

Any word on chassis re-enforcing? That is a LOT of $$$ to chuck at a non-reversible test!

Yeh I was gonna say, I'm not quite sure whether to put the chassis rigidity on incase it completely screws the handling :scared:

I really liked chassis re-enforce in online with the CLK-DTM. It was easier to drive and smoother on tires.

Anybody got a '66 and '67 ticket lying around?

EDIT: re-registered as confirmed. Sod it, I'll find a way to be here, regardless of where my head is at :boggled:

I have 2 of each car so I can do back to back tests and report back my thoughts.

The $120 million test. You should charge for the results.

It was supposed to sort by car choice to mix it up. See some new names at the top. Will fix later. :dunce:

 Oky doky - I'd like a latte and a raspberry and almond slice please.

With pleasure! But they'll be cold and stale by the time they arrive by parcel post...

So I buy the one car which (for me) is probably the worst in terms of my ability to control it, the Ferrari. Where did I put the receipt...

I'll try the Jag next.

I can send them to you. Don't know if I have them on my GTP_ or main account. I'll send an FR from the account where I have them.

Thanks! 👍 I'll repay with a report on my findings :)

I registred info does seem to be lost somewhere in space...my name isn't on the table.

OK, tested first one.

Disclaimer: This is my own opinion based on my driving style and preferences. I take no responsibility for you ruining your own car if you don't like it after modding. :sly:

Tests done with cars in stock trim and setup, save for rear toe set to 0 and max downforce applied.

Ferrari P330 - Hands down better with Rigidity Improvement. Improved stability and better traction. Handling feels slightly heavier but in the high speed stuff at La Sarthe, stability is paramount.

This is what I thought might happen. With the CLK, I didn't like it offline as it took overall grip away (push in, loose out). So when I tried it online, I was very surprised how much it settled the car and that it was better on tires  (link to that post)

Bob is burning in my non-reinforced cars now. I'll get them done and hopefully Speedy will get me the tickets and I'll confirm Vagabond's findings (from a slower drivers opinion) 👍

I loaded Praiano's setting on my 3 cars and did a couple of laps to see how they compare. So different in feel and character, but amazingly similar lap times :boggled: They are show room fresh with only oil changed, we'll see if it the same after break in. But what's with the engine sounds in the Mark4 and Jag?!? The Mark4 sounds like a big yellow school bus, and the Jag sounds like a sewing machine in a low speed windtunnel... 👎

Your registration is fine and logged in correctly in google. The problem is the job that refreshes the image is stopped on my PC. I'm away from home at the moment so it'll be a bit until I can restart it.

I'll try and remote desktop into my network remotely and get the job working again. But in the meantime all registrations are being tracked and saved so just continue to register and the image will update eventually.

UPDATE: I was able to gain access and restart the image refresh. 👍 Nice field shaping up already. Let's keep them coming!

Best looking car in the game though, IMNSHO (In my not so humble opinion :sly:).

Seriously that's the only reason I'm choosing it.

I just noticed there will be a HP cap in the race. Any reason why or is that a typo? This means the Jag and Mark4 are docked a couple of HP. Funny that as I find the Ferrari "feels" like it has the most power, but that might be its very low weight

EDIT: OK, I just read the Stewart's notes... Please ignore my failure to RTFM, I'll go back to my testing and report as requested. My bad!

We did not feel the cars were equal at stock specs after a lot of testing. And we consider more than just a single lap. Basically we don't want the easiest handling car to dominate so there exists a trade off. Again we are looking for drivers to post times in all cars they've tested and we can search for patterns and make adjustments if necessary before we finalize the specs.

Note: it might be good info in practice submissions to note if you have the rigidity improvement installed. I may add that to the form when I have time, but for now just put in comments.

Of course drivers can also post to thread any testing results or data.

Thanks (again) Chris. 👍 You've found a use for my pocket-burning credits.

Please submit times to the practice leaderboard. ;)

The Ferrari is certainly a tough little car to handle

Really? I didn't find it too bad... I started with Praiano's tune and made a couple of little tweaks:
Diff 12/16/5
Damper (ext) 5/7

This was with no chassis reinforce and not yet fully broken in, but those two little things calmed it down so it was fun to drive. But then again, I'm not going Twissy speed :dopey:

By Sunday I should have all broken in (reinforced and non-reinforced) and I'll report back my findings, listing the times in the sheet. Thanks Speedy :)

It appears to be a matter of this car and your particular style. I found the ferrari hard to handle in testing, some others didn't.

By the transitive property that means twissy and I have the same driving style. By the reflexive property that makes me alien. My job is done here. :dopey:

I was driving it stock when i made that statement :sly: made it handle better now

Here's my setup, it handles the bumps nicely and quite stable. I have a 51.6 :D best so far. Gave the setup to Twissy and have seen him get a 47.525 424 since:crazy:.

Ferrari 330P4

RH -5/-6
SR 11.2/10.5
Ext 5/5
Com 5/5
ARB 2/1
CA 1.8/1.5
TA 0.00/0.10

LSD 8/12/7

BB 3/1

And with chassis rigidity, if anybody is wondering whether to add it. I know some drivers may not prefer the handling with it installed. Its just something I've always used and get on with. 👍

I like the new avatar.

Disclaimer to all: Don't expect to run 47.XXX regardless of setup or chassis rigidity. Don't all flock from the other models expecting to run these times.

I'd be curious to see what times Twissy could achieve with the other two cars though.

Honestly, our belief/forecast was that the Ferrari would suit the D1 guys who like cars a bit more twitchy (or at least deal with twitch in return for a few extra tenths here and there) and that appears to be the initial trend so far... we'll see how it turns out after all drivers have a chance to test and practice and tune. We also understand that some drivers will just pick based on brand loyalty... whatever the reason, the end goal is to have a spectrum of cars in the race. Let's hope we can achieve that and still have all drivers choose their favorite regardless of criteria.

In all cars?

In all cars?

Yup I always install the rigidity improvement on my cars, it may not even be the faster set up with it installed, I just tend to tune around it. Unfortuantley I dont have the other two cars, the Ferrari looked cool so I thought i'd buy that with my 20 million credits. So yeh .. if anybody has a spare ticket / car for the Jag or Ford I'd like to try either of them. :dopey:

Somebody please send him a '66 ticket so at least Twissy can try the Jag. Will be a valuable data point. A 1 in 6 chance makes it very easy to generate. I'd do it, but I have no access to PS3 for a week.

My PS3 is stuck and I can't turn it off. It doesn't make any sound or action when I press the power button. I think it's been like this for an hour at least, happened when I wanted to watch Jon driving the Ferrari at night.
I could plug the cable out but I don't want to lose all the data... again.:ouch:

Am I still in the lounge by the way?
