What's the time frame for Saturday's test session? Just trying to plan my day :)

Michouw
Hi, I just sent my WRS qualifier Submission to Vaxen and i'm now waiting to know which is my division .
I already sent FR to the GTP lounges.
hope to have fun race in this 3D3 event. :)

👍 Look forward to racing with you.

Did Litchi recruit you? I see you run his LILO series. Hope you spent a bit more time on the qualifier than he did. Litchi is listed as D3... Yah right. :sly:

The handicap/division doesn't come into play for most online events, but you never know...

... (spooky music) ...

We will start at the listed time and run a couple back to back single stint races, so maybe 90 minutes including a short warmup and instructions and short break between races. People will be welcome to join later for second race or leave early. We will not qualify, but start by handicap.

The purpose (besides to have fun) is to see the cars in action in draft/race/dirty air conditions and over a single full tire cycle. Maybe have a few drivers (whoever is ready and willing) switch cars between first and second race so they can compare/contrast and report back before we put the specs in stone and open quali.

Lol, I confess Mich is far ahead of me on combined rounds. So I guess a D1 Bronze for him. Maybe Silver ;)

I thought i read that somebody placed this three cars online for some testing. But i can't find it anymore. I don't mind buying one. Buying al three gonna cost me alot of time to collect the credits.

So if anyone would be so kind. Thanks in advantge

Mine are all online 👍
Just add me if you haven't already. You will need to purcahse one for the event though, borrowed cars cannot be driven online.

I thought it was you, but wasn't sure. I will add you later on. Thanks

I know i have to buy one, too use it online.

Hope i can handle this monsters :nervous:

I'll register test session saturday August 25 2012. I'll be late may be round 21:00GMT so if you run couple test runs i might join later one?

My recommendation, get the Jag with the '66 ticket (someone can send you and you have a 1 in 6 chance so you can "cycle the ticket" until you get a bulls eye) and then save up for the Ford or Ferrari. That way you get to try a couple online and pick your favorite, plus good cars to have in your garage.

You can probably choose between Ford and Ferrari based on offline testing, but know the Ford is a 4-speed and fairly easy handling and the Ferrari is a bit more nervous and accelerates better.

OK, no more details or discussion of qualifier times or you might get in trouble. :scared: All that needs to be discussed is each driver should put a "decent effort" into them so their division fairly represents their skill level.

We've got some ideas/discussions of how to utilize handicap for a few things in our online events in the future and I think the vast majority of our drivers have handicaps that are fairly representative with some normal variance of course. Litchi, would love to get you to run a few time trials so you could bump yourself up a bit. :sly: You are at minimum my speed - D2-silver - probably over one lap without tire wear a bit faster. Once you run and submit the qualifier the only way to adjust that is to run some offline events and outperform your handicap.

👍 when you register put a note in the comments that you might be late or estimated time of arrival etc. Same for those of you who may only have 45-60 minutes. Let us know through the comments and we'll schedule stuff so that majority can contribute and get in on the action. I'm not 100% sure yet how long a "single stint" is for these cars so we're still in the final planning stages of the test session. It may end up being two races or three depending.

Send a FR to GTP_Hasslemoff and I'll send you a couple of 67 tickets this week.

Tru i can't test them online of course. In offline practice mode with tyre wear on, it will come close to the online physics i suppose

Thanks for the tips. And thanks for adding me so fast. Your faster then me anyway

Thanks i will add you tomorrow. Just turned my PS3 off. If you want it back, let me know.

If anyone have a 66 ticket left. I can send it back after i duplicate it. Thanks

Woops, sorry my bad. Post edited :sly:

Yea, I now i should run some offline events for level up. But I'm very bad regarding offline tunes. I confess i definitely never run offline cause physics are not the same than online.
The only way for me would be to run some offline events with tuning prohibited. Does that exist?

Yes, this week's TT is Arcade (no tuning). Two weeks ago we ran the TT in Arcade too. Lots of opportunities :)

As pilmat said, about every other week (or at least one in three) are run in arcade mode with no tuning. And when we do run tuning there are always great tunes posted within a couple days. I don't tune myself so I rely on those myself. Biggest thing is picking the car/track combos you enjoy. Tracks you like, cars you enjoy driving. You'll forget the physics differences very quickly and you'll be up to speed quickly because you are familiar with the car/track.

The only issue with arcade mode is there are relatively few cars to choose from... and not too many race cars in the list... I actually like the tuning events the most even though I don't tune because I enjoy driving some of those cars. LMP, Touring Cars, Super GT, Race Modified, etc. I don't feel the tuning holds me back because guys like EDK, Vagabond, etc create such amazing tunes and share with all their competitors including me. 👍

Just tried to connect to lobby and can't. Doesn't look great for me..... :(

(Still got Internet crappyness issues)

Post your speedtest.net test results over in the general discussion thread and we can help you trouble shoot. I'll leave the details to that thread, but my guess is if you can't connect it's not bandwidth, but router issues, which can usually be worked around.

It's ok tim I got into the 3d3 lounge eventually and did 6 laps....my ps3 needs moving to the routers dmz host which is currently the 360, I'll do that another day. Will have several sessions to work out how reliable it is! Used the stock Jag with 594pp even with that sub 4 seems doable for the first few laps.....after that it's a bit sketchy :)

Sounds good. You know lately I've been getting connection failed to the lounge once in a while. After several attempts it usually works. Happens often when my PS3 has been on for extended periods like after running the grinder overnight.

You might want to check out the UPnP settings of your router and make sure they are enabled and recognized by your PS3. Not so big of a deal if you set up DMZ, but if you share DMZ with the xbox, UPnP may be another way to manage it.

Wow night time is smart, love it when It starts to get light. Never tried a day/night cycle before!

With 605pp did 3.58.xxx at night on my first flying lap with all the regs set I believe. what's the best times for the jag so far? Presumably 3:50??

Also assuming its ok to post time indicators in here.....

Yes, full lap times (practice) can be freely shared and you can use the practice leader board to get a benchmark as well. Only thing that can't be shared are qualification times before they are publicly announced.

One question that I don't think has been asked or covered... What's the right time progression to get a realistic 2.4 hour as a 24 hour time cycle.

I've got it on 10 with my flawed math thinking that's 1 minute every 6 seconds, which should put a full day at 2.4 hours time.

Yes, I believe that's right, but like anything PD-related we'll need a test to verify that's actually how it works. We don't expect the race to be a full 2.4 hours but that should be close enough. We will start the race at mid day so we'll definitely get back to full light by the time it ends even if we don't make it all the way back to mid day.

Having had a few laps with the transition it's just awesome. This race is gonna be amazing with that happening, the dynamics Will be so different and I suspect accidents and mistakes will play a bigger part, which will be pretty cool because it'll mix it up nicely!

Just like in the real Le Mans.... except our cars heal themselves ;)
Dawn at Sarthe is really, really cool 👍

Gonna have some laps in 3d3 racing, but is a race going on this eve? I'll pick the first one with no people in!

There are no races today (Tuesday), but it is official practice day for the weekly events so the main lounge (GTP_3D3Racing) is reserved for that purpose. Tomorrow (Wednesday) is official race day. I'd think GTP_3D3_B (mic-enabled) is probably a safe bet today/tomorrow for special event practice. GTP_3D3_A is mic-disabled and used for races when the grid is large (13+).

Just tried the Ferrari and Jag. Because i had to borrowed them from Hydro, i could only tried them offline. Although i turned fuel/tyre wear on, i have the feeling there is still a big difference in physics. Cos my lap times are to good for the small amount of laps i did compare to the times of others.

Received a '67 ticket today form Hasslemoff (thanks again) and send it as a gift to my other account and start opening the ticket over and over again on my GTP account. Had to restart the game and places the save game from the usb back to my PS3 about 5 or 6 times, till the Ford showed up. Quit a time consuming activity, i can tell you  but it was worth it. Tomorrow i send the ticket form other account back to my GTP account and start all over again till the Ferrari shows up. Only need the Jag then. And the online testing can begin.

Don't really like the ford as much as the jag, little liftoff oversteer which would kill me in a long race, it also wobbled a bit more with my wheel. Still was quick though, 3.58 on a fairly poor lap with a few PP down

Going to try the jag with proper PP and HP for a bit.

Done around 12-14 laps overall in the jag and got a 3'55.762, need to try some longer runs and work out the suspension and diff a bit...any tips!?

If I understand correctly about track boundaries, it would be considered dirty to be between the (dashed) white line and the fence on the Mulsanne straight(s) (on that reddish/pinkish side lane). I have a tendency to go over to the side just before each chicane and just before the kink... seems like the natural thing to do.
