I'll get you that '66 ticket for the Jag, Dennis.

Ok thanks Chris. Do you want it back?

If anyone else need '66 '67 tickets. Let me know i have both of them now :)

Couple of questions:

1.) My Jag has only 65 miles on it, as well as it's oil change at 0. It's currently on 526bhp so I can power limit it easily enough to match the PP and HP regulations (and did do last night when lapping) - is there any downside to not having it fully broken in before power limiting it?

2.) Has anybody tweaked/changed anything fundamental with the Praiano setup's posted in the OP? (On ANY of the cars) Just curious. Haven't tried them yet but slung my own one on - intend on testing over the next few days.

Cheers

Matt

Ill answer no 1 for you.
There is a downside, it's against the rules as the car wil not match the required regulations (97.5 power limiter).
In order to ensure that all cars start the race with the exact same specs it is expected that all drivers break their cars in fully.
Besides affecting the power band (admittedly slight), a non- broken in car will increase in HP over the course of the race. We've never observed that to be an advantage as any hp increase or decrease appears to be applied after the race completion. Regardless, to remove the possibility that the car may benefit (or lose) from being not broken in all cars must be broken in before the race.

Cool race, I love Le Mans in all forms. Makes me wish I had kept up with GT5, I haven't had the wheel connected since week 60 something. :)

Stupid question perhaps but I didn't see it mentioned - why not run the no-chicane version to keep with the "classic" theme?

No time-change version of that track. Nice to see you back, mate. 👍

If I understand correctly about track boundaries, it would be considered dirty to be between the (dashed) white line and the fence on the Mulsanne straight(s) (on that reddish/pinkish side lane). I have a tendency to go over to the side just before each chicane and just before the kink... seems like the natural thing to do.

Could a steward tell me whether my interpretation of the rules is correct? Thanks.

I think it's clean, as the white line isn't solid.
But then again I'm no steward :dopey:.

EDIT: Just went back to the archives and on page 5 Kevin has a post saying the red part is off track. Can't quote it because I'm on a phone.
So yeah guess your interpretation is right 👍.

Just run my Mark IV for a few laps to learn the track, looking to get the Ferrari soon just a few mill needed, and guess I'll have to run the Indy 500 for the Jag and give that a try.

With a bit of luck I'll make one in for this.

there will be rain or just day and night cycle? (Sorry for my english is very poor ...)

Thanks Mohit. In my copious free time I was scouring the Flyin' Down Mulsane thread looking for the original ruling and couldn't find it until you pointed me to page 4. Gotta love this part of the job.

Here is the post:

The problem is that Mulsanne is part of the track that is normally a public road, so some of the white lines are not necessarily intended as track boundaries.

In the past, the red bits have not been track here, going back to the GT4 days. That was mainly about cutting the chicanes, but nonetheless, I want to be consistent there, so I'm sticking to that.

At this time, I would say the right hand turn at the end of Mulsanne is the clear and obvious exception to the white line rule. Not the right side, on the red stuff. But the left side, where the line is almost certainly there to denote a public road transition, not a racetrack boundary. ... assume the sand is the track boundary on the left side of that turn, white lines in play everywhere else.

The F1 races put me at 20 million, so now I have the Ford to go with the Ferrari.

I'll do the Indy 500 and get that out of the way soon for the Jag.

I can't make it Saturday due to work, but my crazy football schedule should be easing up next week and allow me to get some track time and practice in. No GT for the past few weeks had been driving me mad

We are going to make the test races pretty simple (and hopefully fun) and focus on driving without a lot of procedure. We'll do two 7 lap races without any qualifying and we'll practice the rolling start for both. Start order will be determined by handicap.

We'll open the room early for warm up. We'll start the first race at 5 past the hour sharp so don't be later or you'll have to wait until race 2. After race 1 we'll take a short break of about 10-12 minutes and the track will be open for practice so drivers that switch cars get a couple laps to adjust. The second race will follow after the break.

We'll use the time change feature for both races. Both will start in the late afternoon in full light and include some night racing.

After the test session we'd like feedback on the cars before we finalize specs next week. We'd like to encourage drivers to try a two different cars so they can compare and contrast, but it's not required.

To this point we've heard nothing to indicate there is an imbalance and the test races will be a last chance for feedback/input before we open qualifying next week.

PS> Pits are open, but not required. Also note that this is not a "practice race" like we sometimes run the day before our weekly races where we sometime slow and gather. This is an opportunity to push the car at full speed and see how it handles over a full stint of drive in an actual race scenario.

I hope that 2nd test race starting time is about 21:00GMT or so. I'll try to be hurry and hopefully make to race. I'll be late from 1st race.

Indy 500 FAIL!

Just run the Indy 500 to get the Jag, around 1h 30m it was tea time, I went to the pits and suspended the race but left it on, watched TV for a bit while eating and then switched back to GT roughly 45min later.

Must of knocked the controller as it had been running all the time I was watching TV, I was 20 odd laps behind with 55 laps to go.

:irked:

Any chance of a ticket please?

Why don't we do this to make things simple for people who might want to pop in for just the 2nd race:
  • 19:30 - The lounge will open at or before 19:30 GMT for free run practice
  • 20:00 - The first test race will start at 20:00 GMT and last from 30-45 mins
  • 20:45 - Break/free run practice between the end of the first race until start of 2nd race
  • 21:00 - The 2nd race will start at 21:00 GMT and last 30 minutes

The 2nd race will stay at 7 laps so will not go past 21:30 thus stay without our original 90 minute window. We have the option to extend the first race to 8 or even 9 laps under this setup or just leave extra break/free run time in between.

Anyone who needs to exit by 21:00 will be able to race in the first race. Anyone who can't join until 21:00 can take part in the 2nd race. Seems like a win/win.

Thanks again pilmat. :)

Just a quick one, do we have to turn our lights on or will it be auto?

Thanks for the offer, but I'm well over halfway in the race now.

I'm out, but Jon is still lapping away in there. May return later tonight.

Managed a 3'52.122 in the Jaaaag, 3'56.xxx at night. But I suspect that'll get better with more practice. The back half of the track is so dark!

EDIT: This combo just pushes the boundary on how much fun I'm having in GT5. If you're on the fence, take your favourite car and take it for a spin, both at day and night.

In the lounge running a few laps, but I only have about 45 minutes so it'll be quick.

EDIT: I'm out already.

Signed up for the test session, looks like I've got some work to do looking at the practice laps, only managed a 4'04 so far in the Ferrari (pre break-in) Bob broke it for me last night and he's running the Jag now so I'll get on it in a couple of hour :) suppose I'll give the Mark IV another chance now I've set Praiano's tune on them all.

Would I be right in thinking I should lower the top speed slightly, considering Praiano tuned them with turbos installed? the Ferrari felt to be struggling at top end.

Oh, but then again I've only used DS3 so far.
