I love how hub caps would fly off cars in it and they would magically re-appear on the car a minute down the road !

Ahhhh... The magic of Hollywood...

More honorable mentions:

A Mighty Wind
O' Brother, Where Art Thou
(Such an unlikely (yet entertaining) interpretation of Homers "Odyssey")
Scent of a Woman

;)

O'Brother was a wonderful movie, and I actually liked the harmonies Clooney and the cronies put together...very nice !

Well, I still can't watch David Lynch. I've given him enough chances to impress me, and all he's done is make me scream "WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU?!" at my TV screen.

You can try to explain it all you want, but no one is going to be able to convince me that a backwards-talking midget has anything to do with ingenious plot structure.

I changed my mind; I DO think David Lynch is full of drugs all the time.

So here´s my top 10 movie´s list (in no particular order):

Abra los Ojos (I don´t know if this is how you spell it, this is the original and much much better version of Vanilla Sky)
LOTR Trilogy
Terminator 2
Die Hard
(all of them)
Matrix (first one)
Braveheart
Back to the Future Trilogy
Sixth Sence
Lethal Weapon
(all of them)
True Lies

And about "Brazil", yes I have seen it, well part of it, in college last year. But it´s not my kind of movie I guess.

Delphic Reason
David Lynch has explained the basic plot line of the film... I'll see if I can find the link... This is what get's me... I explained numerous times that I would love to have a civil conversation about the film (via PM)... I never proclaimed my intellectual superiority... It's about as rediculous as posting your IQ...

Yes. How totally ridiculous that would be.

Feel free to start a thread about Mulholland Drive, or even do a search to see if there already IS one. After all, this is the "Movies & TV" forum.

What exactly was your reasoning behind your "killing a moderator" statement?

Delphic Reason
I apologise...

That's all okay then.

I can't believe I missed Bullitt off my list. D'oh!

For everyone's reference, I'm compiling a list in Excel. Films are ranked by order of how many times they have been voted for - then by how many times they've been placed in 1st place, 2nd place and so on, to break up any ties. Where there's a series of films, feel free to vote for one or all of them. Your vote will go towards the series, but I'll make a note of which particular one in a series is most favoured - this will then be the representative film for the series in the final poll.

I've not yet added Yojimbo, or anyone past him, but to that point I had 19 submissions and 118 different films. There's a distinct top 30 appearing, and Hugo Weaving appears to be doing rather well...

Watch this space (or more likely a slightly different space in the same forum) for the poll on Christmas Day!

This is really hard.

  • A Beautiful Mind
  • A.I.
  • Finding Nemo
  • Four Rooms
  • Jurassic Park
  • Men In Black
  • Ronin
  • The Godfather III
  • Vanilla Sky
  • Wasabi

List Amended:

1. LOTR series (1. RotK, 2. TT, 3. FotR)
2. Kill Bill Vol. 1
3. The Matrix (The first one)
4. Monty Python and the Holy Grail
5. Saving Private Ryan
6. Blackhawk Down
7.Rejected
8. Tommy Boy
9. Dumb and Dumber
10. Forrest Gump

I can't believe I forgor The Holy GraiL! :dunce:

In no particular order:

-Dirty Harry (first one, haven't seen the others yet)
-Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail
-Black Hawk Down
-Bullitt
-Saving Private Ryan
-Happy Gilmore
-Billy Madison
-Close Encounters of the Third Kind
-The Shawshank Redemption
-Hero

As you can see, I have a fairly wide taste in movies. There are about 5 or 6 other movies I would have liked to have included...

I'll put in a vote for Brazil, as well.

And another of the 13 on my 'Top Ten' list:

Dead Poet's Society - I couldn't come up with the title when i was typing my original list.

Here here... Dead Poet's Society is a fantastic film...

;)

I wish it was a top 100, but here's my top 10:

Fifth Element
Seven Samurai
Saving Private Ryan
Se7en
Commando
Swingers
High and Low
James Bond Series(especially "You Only Live Twice"
The Experiment(German)
Seven Days In May

I liked over 90% of the choices you guys made here. Great movies. My only surprise was that nobody mentioned the Swingers. I don't think I saw Jurassic Park in there either.

Not in any particular order, but you get the gist

Matrix
Lion King
Saving Private Ryan
Finding Nemo
Shawshank Redemption
2F2F (it really is that good! ;))

I can't think of many now, it's late, but we will see tomorrow afternoon...

This is tough, here's my list.

  • Ronin
  • Ocean's 11
  • Old School
  • Fight Club
  • Jaws
  • Heat
  • Snatch
  • Saving Private Ryan
  • Black Hawk Down
  • Spiderman (1, 2, and probably 3 once it comes out)

Viper Zero
Would Band of Brothers count as a "movie"?

No. It's a made-for-TV miniseries with less-than feature length episodes which never received a cinematic premiere.

* LOTR trilogy
* Payback
* Snatch
* Saving private Ryan
* Se7en
* Ice age
* Lethal Weapon
* Die Hard
* Eternal sunshine of a spotless mind
* Bambi
