GTP_LinPark v GTP_zed300

GTP_LinPark had pole and launched from this advantage point.

Lap1 he had a 2 second lead, and I had almost conceded defeat at this point:nervous:

For the rest of the race GTP_LinPark continued that lead+ on each lap and finished with 27+ sec lead at the line.

Way to quick as I could only manage low 1.59's all race.

Congradulations GTP_LinPark and good luck with your Event 03 campaign:tup:

Nothing much to add, great write-up zed300 and thanks for meeting me on the track well before the deadline. I was fortunate enough to get plenty of practice the last few days, set a good pace, make very few mistakes, and slide by any backmarkers unmolested. The racing gods were truly smiling on me tonight.

Good Luck to my fellow Div 2 Group 2 drivers in this and the following rounds.

Div 2 PAL Group 1
GTP_Sauber-F1 v GTP_Animera

We met in the GTP chat room and decided to start our race at xx:04, to miss the main xx:00 race. It was only the 2 of us, with AusNick spectating and 1 other racer.

The race started and Sauber-F1 took the lead in to turn 1 with me following for the rest of the lap. On the main straight I passed and Sauber-F1 followed me for laps 2, 3 and 4.

On lap 5 Sauber made a mistake at spoon, that gave me a gap that I managed to slowly increase till the end of the race.

Thanks for the race Sauber, and good luck for the rest of the competition.

Congratulations Animera. It's almost silly how you (and Nick) has progressed in the last few months.

Congrats also to LinPark.

Well done to LP and Ian for what are undoubtedly well-earned victories. Seeing how intense the battles are in WRS, it's great to actually see how people come up against each other on the same track 👍

GTP_MJH vs GTP_Cohiba100

After a few disconnect we finally managed to hook up. MJH took the lead and started off at a pace that I could not follow. After a lap or so I managed to get a grip on myself and clawed him back so that I could take the lead going into lap 4. Held it for a few laps with Matt hot on my heels. On lap 8 (I think) he was a bit to hot and gently put me in the sand in the hairpin. No worries whatsoever since he waited until I could rejoin. I hung back and placed myself behind him since I had noticed I had better straight line speed. My plan was to draft down the back straight on lap 10. It backfired however when I made a mistake in the hairpin on that very lap and lost 2 seconds. Matt however came up to a Clio in the final chicane and was hindered a bit while I got quite good traction out of it so it was a drag race to the line. When passing it I honestly though that I had taken it. The results board showed that the winner, by 18/1000 of a second was: GTP_MJH

Matt offered to re-race due to the incident in the hairpin but I declined and said I had no complaints.

A good and honest race that could have gone either way but with a well deserved winner

Edit: Just to expand a bit on how I saw the hairpin incident. We were more or less coming side by side with me maybe half a carlength ahead and on the left side of the track through the very slight right hinder just before the braking point for the hairpin. When I braked the almost nonexistent contact coupled with the weightshift was enough to spin me out. Had we not been in that exact point with a turn and brake at the same time nothing would have happened. GTP_MJH did not deliberately try to muscle his way through and at any other point on the track the only result of this incident would have been some paint swapping.

Thanks for a great race Thomas. Good write up, just as you described it. my heart was in my mouth coming out of the final corner lol.

About the hairpin incident. I got a much better drive out of degner 2, which allowed me to pull along side up the short straight. I realised that we were goingto touch round the slight right, so I back off a bit but still ran a bit wide and touched you. Sorry about that. I wondered why you didn't take the lead back, but I understand your tactics now.

I wish you luck in your future races.

Matt.

Nice work Animera.👍 Bad luck Sauber-F1.

Go AU/NZ Crowd.:D:tup: Good to see one driver of the group has made it through successfully.👍 Paulie, Nick, tizz and I will try to acheive the same over the next few days.👍

He hasn't made it through yet, remember after all the races in a group are done, the top 2 go through.

Not that I think anyone can stop him

Division 2 Group 1 PAL

GTP_Synwraith vs GTP_Calcifer
Winner: GTP_Synwraith

Thanks to Cal first off for making it very simple to arrange and race, I've been lucky so far with all my race opponents on GTP 👍

We were extremely lucky to have a grid of only 5 drivers, Me, Calcifer (Host), GTP_Theewar, GTP_Fuzzy and GTP_fairplay_plz.

I started from P1, both of us in Corvettes, and led into turn 1. For the first 2 or 3 laps Cal was always within 1 second of me, I was typically running mid 57s. On lap 4 Cal went in too hot at turn 1 and went onto the grass, falling to roughly 4 seconds back. From then on the gap increased slightly per lap, I started dropping one or two 1'56.9s and then I noticed Cal was very far back, I think he may have stopped.

The gap was quite large as I was starting lap 10, then Cal got disconnected and as he was host that was the end of it.

I offered a rerun but Cal has respectfully declined, leaving me as the winner. A pleasure as always to race you, Aresh. Kheyli mamnoon baraye mosabeghe

I lost and I'm out! laters 👍
You won't be off the hook that easily Mr P!

First, we have a round robin with others in your group before there are eliminations (more of a world cup pool type thing).

EDK
  • Format will not be the same as Event 02. It's expected that racers will be able to participate for multiple weeks, without being eliminated.

GTP_Vaxen vs GTP_CarlPKY

Even though we'rein the PAL group, we raced on NTSC since we're both in the US, and NTSC is less crowded for this sort of thing. As we entered the race, there was me, Carl, and an Elise. We caught and passed the Elise on the back straight of lap 5, so there was no interference.

I started from pole, and took the early lead. Carl followed me at a distance of about 0.5-1.0 seconds for the first couple laps. He tested a pass on the back straight (before 130r) on lap 2 but backed out. He passed me on the front straight on lap 4.

I repassed him on going through the 130r on lap 4 (side by side!), but Carl passed me again on the front straight.

I got Carl again on the back straight of lap 7, and held the lead until I got a tiny bit sideways coming out of the hairpin on lap 9. I sniffed his bumped a couple times, and then setup a beautiful pass coming out of spoon on lap 10. Carl got sideways!

... but so did I!

We both recovered in short order, but there was too much of a gap to make up, and not enough time to close it. Carl cruised home for the win, with me less than a second behind.

A standup race, and a well deserved victory for Carl. I'll go side by side with you anytime! 👍

Thanks for the write up Vaxen 👍
Can't think of anything more to add other than that I feel very fortunate
to have just finished ahead of you...barely :scared:

That was the most epic race I've had the pleasure of being involved in.
It was really a toss up. If not for Vaxen's slight bobble in the hairpin on lap 9, I really doubt I would have been able to pass him again, it was so difficult to pass even with slipstream, I think we must have had a very similar setup.

Thanks again Vaxen for a great race, and I feel the same way about you 👍 Side by side anytime

Congratulations on your win Maz
Two months ago, we were both struggling to find our speed
and wondering if we would be competitive again.
I think it's safe to say our questions have been answered :)

Great win Maz

I wish we could have gotten a PM to let us know that Round 1 of Event 3 was/has started. I keep looking at my inbox and there has been nothing :(

I wish we could have gotten a PM to let us know that Round 1 of Event 3 was/has started. I keep looking at my inbox and there has been nothing :(

Everything we do for these events takes time.

Sending a PM to all involved is probably another half hour. It's important for updates, etc.

But to tell everyone it started, I would expect people to watch the forums.

Now, if you have an issue with meeting the first week deadline and you need to discuss, please PM me.

But I don't think we need to be sending a PM update for every small change in the event.

Congratulations to Carl and Maz for the wins. Sorry for the trouble when we tried to hook up for the race between Synwraith and Calcifer. I did not want to disconnect since I was hosting and therefore you were all forced to reset instead. I just wanted to let the five or so racers who were not GTPers be able to continue with the race.

We started a group called AU/NZ Crowd, that's what I meant by group.👍

Race against Hyperspeed in 30 mins.:nervous:

EDK
I might just stay up for that. 👍

It's at :03 if anyone is interested.👍 Obviously we don't want interference.;) But spectators, feel free as long as you park somewhere to watch.👍

Race report:

GTP_MatejH vs GTP_Bigracer
Winner: GTP_MatejH
GTP_MatejH vs GTP_Bigracer 1:0

Race report:
We agreed to race only 1 race. Both with tuned Vettes.
I started on P1 he on P2.
I pulled of after first 2 or 3 turns.
On lap 5 i had 30 seconds gap.
On lap 6 I started to catch other guys from public race.
I overtook TORC_Albert Park and then he tried to overtook me and then we crashed.
It was not his fault he didn´t knew that we racing this event.
It was not nobody´s fault.
I know he is clean driver:tup:👍👍
Then I was just cruising to victory with gap of 50-60 seconds:tup:👍👍
Thanks for fun race Bigracer.
Thanks Kevin,Jamie and Jack for this great combo:tup:
It is great to be :gtpflag: driver.

Congrats zujo 19.👍 Bad luck bigracer.

TORC_AlbertPark would've been involved in SAR(Sunday afternoon racing) which is currently running now. Some TORC/GTP'ers get together and race on Sundays and Mondays. That's probably why he was there.;)👍

Congratulations to Matej on his easy win. He was doing 1.58-9 laps, me 2.03-4-5's. By the time the race was finished he was on the other side of the track :D

I do wonder if it's a wise choice to put together brilliant D3 drivers with mediocre D4 ones? If this continues I might not have so much fun throughout this event ...

GTP_PASM versus GTP_Paulie
Winner: GTP_PASM

Arranging a time to race went smooth and we were both on time. After wishing each other good luck we went into the race. It was only Aussienicko, Paulie, myself and an other bloke (host). I was on pole. I managed to be first to arrive in turn 1 and lead the lap. For the first few laps Paulie was checking out my driving and testing where to pass. We were running low 57's. In lap 4 Paul passed me on the back straight coming into 130R. From then on I really dont remember how it went because we changed position all the time :sly:. The pace was going up and so was the tension. I think we managed 56.2 in one lap. In lap 8, Paulie made a mistake (coming out of turn 1?) and I had about a 0.8xx second lead. I hoped I could maintain this lead, and I did until lap 10 started. By the end of the back straight, Paulie was breathing down my neck again, with about .3xx seconds to spare. I managed to secure the inside line and accelerated to the finish line.

Without a doubt one of the most fun and clean races I've ever had in a GTP event. A big big big 👍 to Paulie.
