Congratulations to PASM 👍 Better luck next time Paulie, the finish certainly looked very close. guys.

Congatulations PASM.👍 Bad luck Paulie, at least it's a round robin where you have the oppurtunity to come back.:)

GTP_mad94d Vs GTP_Hyperspeed
Winner: GTP_Hyperspeed

Well after both arriving 30 mins early and discussing rules etc, we eventually got to a race start at 6:03pm AEST. As the loading screen appeared I realised that we had about 5 spectators. I started from pole with Hyperspeed 2nd. Hyperspeed grabbed the lead down into Turn 1 and I closely followed through the esses. At the Dunlop Curve we both had a massive scare due to an out of control GTLM. We both went to the outside and both got hit and got taken off the track. Luckily, we both rejoined just as the way we left the track and the race continued. In the middle of the race we eventually caught the leader. It was about 200R where we caught him, I threw it down the inside at spoon and got the job done. Hyperspeed then followed me through. This was the last of the traffic in our race which was great. The race continued cleanly and smootly up until lap 9 where I got a bit confident heading down into Turn 1.

On Lap 9 I hit Hyperspeed going into Turn 1. Completely my fault, I should've lifted because I should've known that two into one doesn't work at turn 1. But I waited and let him rejoin in the lead. It was then close to the finish.

Lap 10, Dan led heading down into 130R. I had a good run off 130R, Dan covered into Casio. I went to the outside, broke really late, a bit too late......I went off onto the grass which gave Dan an easy cruise to the line.👍

Congrats Dan.👍

I'd also like to thank GTP_Stotty, GTP_Cohiba100, GTP_Racer_LP, GTP_EDK for showing up to watch.👍

GTP_ZippyUK Vs GTP_Eriba Division 3/4 PAL Group 1

We both made contact with one another early in the week, GTP_ZippyUK (Trev) asked for Saturday midday, so we went at 13:09 on Saturday to try and miss the main bulk of racers that join on the hour.

We agreed no special rules just GTP_OLR and go for the finishing line, there was a little bit of confusion at the start of the public race, as Trev (zippy) lined up on the right with me on the left, we both did our maneuver well and back to the start line well in time, but Trev took up position 2 on the grid at this point I had to take grid 1.

The driver who is listed on the left in the pairings will take position number 1 on the grid.

So I made sure that Trev took the lead off the start line, and I followed on behind, into turn one I could see that Trev’s Corvette was a bit twitchy on the back end, as we made our way through the S-bends we soon caught up on some dead public racers one sitting in the middle of the track, unseen by me till the last minute as I was in close to Trev’s bumper, Trev moved right (Oh chit) I shouted darted to the left, you guessed it off onto the grass for the first time, managed to catch up my lost time as Trev was having a hard time with some of the back markers in the public race.

This is how it went on for the first few laps come lap 5 I think it was Trev was having some hassle with a Blitz, I was still playing catch up, round the hair pin I see them just heading for the bridge, so I press on hard under the bridge round the right hand curve 145mph coming up to 150mph, the Blitz must have done something and Trev is stopped in the middle of the track, (oh woops I cried) not again, into the back of Trev at 140mph, or grass, track, then spoons sand pit, yep ended at the back of the spoon sandpit, 4th time off, by the time I drag the lump of a vette out of the sand, Zippy is long gone round r130 heading for the casio triangle (chicane) still with the blitz I think, So I press on just hoping for a bit of clear track.

Onto lap 6 I can see the gap coming down made good time on Trev, I don’t know if he was still having problems at this point as he was not in sight, through the S-bends got my first hot line this lap and caught Trev as we went round the long left Dunlop curve, me tight on the inside white line and Trev on the outside not a nice place to be in a vette going round Dunlop curve, one twitch and your gone, both our bumpers must have been almost touching, my F/O/S and Trev’a R/N/S and then the inevitable happened Trev’s vette twitched and off he shot to the right across the grass into the barrier.

As the track was now clear I seen the Blitz parked at the side of the track around T1 I could now just settle down, bring the adrenalin down a little and go for the line, Trev didn’t manage to recover to well from the major off, but I could see he was still fighting on, the 60 second count down came into play with Trev in second place and me in first.

Well done GTP_ZippyUK (Trev) I had a feeling I was going to be out and I think, if you had not had all the hassle in those first 5 laps or so the outcome would be different.

All the Best Phillip.

GTP_PASM versus GTP_Paulie
Winner: GTP_PASM

Arranging a time to race went smooth and we were both on time. After wishing each other good luck we went into the race. It was only Aussienicko, Paulie, myself and an other bloke (host). I was on pole. I managed to be first to arrive in turn 1 and lead the lap. For the first few laps Paulie was checking out my driving and testing where to pass. We were running low 57's. In lap 4 Paul passed me on the back straight coming into 130R. From then on I really dont remember how it went because we changed position all the time :sly:. The pace was going up and so was the tension. I think we managed 56.2 in one lap. In lap 8, Paulie made a mistake (coming out of turn 1?) and I had about a 0.8xx second lead. I hoped I could maintain this lead, and I did until lap 10 started. By the end of the back straight, Paulie was breathing down my neck again, with about .3xx seconds to spare. I managed to secure the inside line and accelerated to the finish line.

Without a doubt one of the most fun and clean races I've ever had in a GTP event. A big big big 👍 to Paulie.

Yep, and once more, well done- fantastic race. I think you had a slight pace advantage, I was able to claw back by slipstream. All I really remember after lap 4 was my car getting harder and harder to drive, and the feeling of more and more understeer as I willed it to go faster. Well deserved victory.👍

And bad luck Mad, sounded like an intense race like ours was, well done Hyperspeed.👍

Sounds like Event 03 is giving even better races than event 02 did. Massive well done to Bart, Zujo, Philip and of course Dan.. The Man :P

Well done also to Steven, Madison, Zippy and Paulie

All the best

GTP_TIZZLA Vs. GTP_Superwally

Perfect race environment, just Tizzla, Superwally, and 1 other driver who was never a factor. The start and most of lap 1 were uneventful, with Tizzla a half second up and me following in the draft, but I ran wide at 130R (I think that's the right name) and picked up the penalty that really isn't one as you are braking into the chicane anyway. I pulled out of Tizzla's draft for most of the front stretch as sort of a self-imposed penalty, and that was pretty much the race. Without the draft I slowly faded back, and a couple sand trips sealed the deal.

Very consistent run Tizzla, sorry I wasn't more competition, well off my own pace today certainly no match for you. Excellent run, good luck with the rest of the comp.👍

Same here, not use to having a bye week but it has let me get my driving stand together after the move.:)

GTP_Timppaq vs. GTP_Timeattack
Winner: GTP_Timppaq

First I want to thanks TA for agreeing to race today. We had set the date for today but he told me not being able to do enough practising. I had tomorrow planned already and hoped that we could race today and he kindly agreed. 👍 Thanks for that. Tomorrow would have been maybe too problematic.

We managed to get into the same race on a first try and we had GTP_Hyperspeed witnessing the race. When the clock hitted 30 we floored it and managed to get pretty even start. TA took the first corner causiously and coming from the outer line I got better exit speed and took the lead. I was able to gain a little gap on first lap and broke the tow from TA. Gradually increased the lead lap after lap and on third lap hit the traffic which slightly slowed me down. There was no drama overtaking the outsiders and I stayed away from the slip as much as I could. TA parked it up to hairpin at the last lap (?) as I had increased my lead to over 20sec's I think.

Thanks for the race and for the fair spirit of agreeing to race on the set date even if not managing to get enough practise with the combo. Hope to race you soon again. 👍

Again, well done Timo. Amazing speed. Unlucky TA, still getting used to the wheel, how is it? 👍

Congrats on the win Timo...much deserved bro  I knew going in my chances of beating you were about as good as winning the California lottery  I pretty much gave up on the first lap after I had the off and fell out of your draft. From there I just did my own race, putting in a bunch of crappy laps

My skills with the wheel are just NOWHERE near yours at this point, and to be honest it's pretty discouraging to go from D1 gold pace (in most situations) to more like D3 pace :( Hopefully with time I will eventually get back to where I was with the pad so we can have some good race. Unfortunately the wheel just feels really foreign to me right now :dunce: Anyways, good luck in your future races! :)

GTP_Twisted vs GTP_Lagas Division 3/4 Group 2

GTP_Twisted win

Straight forward join up, and into grid positions.

I managed a decent start and held my line through turn 1. Somewhere after the esses I saw Lagas oversteer a little and determined to put some space between us. After making it safely through some traffic I found myself in clean air and held it together 'til the end.

Best of luck to Lagas for the rest of the tournament, and huge thanks to EDK for an awesome combo. Aligned with TLD's tune I'm really enjoying being at the helm of this behemoth of a Vette.

Best wishes to you all.

Thanks mate

Just stick with it and soon it will all be back :) I'm sure of it. You know, the skill never leaves you.. ;) ..D1 gold will always be gold. Just dig it back again. I still remember the first time I drove with wheel.. :yuck::dunce: ..couldn't get it right. Nothing beats wheel time, that's also true in here. Once you've had 1/10 of the laps you've had with pad, you're already faster than with pad, I'm sure. Again.. was nice racing you. Cya soon 👍

Wise words there Timo, you listening Jack... Slacker ;)

:mischievous:

Thanks for the words of wisdom Timo 👍

@ Dan - The wheel is going alright (at best) mate  I'm still having a tough time in everyway though :( My best lap with the tuned vette in free air was a 57.1, although my race pace is only about a 58 flat (when I'm trying), which quite frankley is discouragingly slow, especially when the improvements aren't coming as quick or consistantly as I'd like. It just feels like I can't see the light at the end of the tunnel atm. Overall the wheel wasn't really what I was expecting, especially in GT5P where the FFB is quite awful and unrealistic IMO. I played Ferrari Challenge and found it too be much more realistic and predictable in terms of FFB...so I may end up trying a proper PC sim like Rfactor or GTR EVO to get that proper realism in terms of what I feel through the wheel. Either way I'll keep on chipping away  See ya on the track mate 👍

GTP_redbullfix =1st
GTP_d3br34k5=2nd

Good racing with ya Derek.

Took a few starts to get it goin.
1st race there were 3 in the room, and the leader disconnected on us, probably thought we quit with the 30 headstart we gave him.

2nd race again 3 in the room, leader host.
But this time all was fine, shared some lines with GTP_d3br34k5, then set off after the leader who was a cheating slut of a driver  "alangt_br"

Well done to all the winners and competitors 👍

Brock, you just need to take one look at the Sixaxis to G25 thread to know the transition isn't easy for anybody. But you're an alien, and you'll be back. I guranatee that, and to be honest mate the fact that you are ALREADY capable of a 57.1 is utterly stupid.

You're doing amazingly well bro, just don't get discouraged, it happens to everyone

All the best

Guys I've got a little problem.

I'm in Scotland at the moment and won't be back until Monday night, after 500miles drive, I'll only have time to do my rFactor race. I didn't know the week would be so short to get the first paired race done.

Shall I;

a) Forfeit the win to GTP_MeAgainstYou

b) Ask EDK and GTP_MeAgainstYou if we could kindly race on the Tuesday?

c) Be disqualified? :(

GTP_JackStanley vs GTP_Evo8doc

Race started with me in first, Ross in second. Heading down to turn 1 and I lead. 3 laps pass and Ross is suck on my tail. Coming out of Casio and Ross get sideways. This gives me a chance to break the slip and start to pull the lead.

Finally hit some backmarkers (only 4 of them on track), and they are 2 Amuses. Both clean and not that quick. I pass one around the outside in the harpin and the other along the run to spoon.

Lap 5 and I catch the next 2. They are battling for the lead and I sit back to watch. One gets taken out and parks in the sand. As I follow the leader for a lap, his pace isnt so bad. I sit behind and just ride along.

Lap 6 and I decide to overtake. We go through the esses and I give him pressure. He runs wide in Dunlop and I go for the pass. He pulls behind me as we brake for Degner and suprise, suprise... PUNTED :dopey:

I get on the hunt of chasing him down and making the time back up of what Ive lost. At this point Ross is about 3 seconds behind me.

Lap 9 and Ive made the time up. Managed to pull 5 - 7 seconds on Ross and back on the Viper. Forced to overtake down the Crossover and into 130r he taps my rear.... Im sent sideways and flying across the track.... I collect the viper and we both end up putting smoke everywhere....

Luckily I rejoin facing Casio and go through the chicane ok. With the Viper hot on my tail and looking for another go, I decide to let him pass. I follow with my nose on his bumper giving him pressure. He spins on the exit of Degner 2 and I can concentrate now on Ross. With 3.7xx seconds between me and him, I know Ive just gotta drive smooth and not crash.

Rest of the lap I take everything at 80% and Ross gains a little time pushing hard and fighting to the line 👍

Thanks for the race and hope to catch you on track again. Was good fun :)

Jack 👍

Per the original post for the event, all racers are allowed a one time grace. So, you've used yours up, but you'll be able to make up this race.

Please just get it in before next Monday's deadline for week 2.

Nice write up Jack

I knew Jacks pace was faster than mine and the only chance I had was to stay in his slipstream which I managed for 3 laps but after the error at casio jack started to steadily pull away.

I kept going praying to see Jack in the sand somewhere but he was to fast and consistant apart from his encounters with the viper.

My laps were too inconsistant with 3 seconds between my best and worst laps after to many mistakes .

Thanks to MAY for giving me FAKs tune and Tizzla for DKs tune 👍

Congratulations Jack well deserved win 👍

OK - Lots going on here.

First, I'll recap my race.

GTP_alexi v GTP_EDK

We met in the online chat a little before 6 pm GMT. We decided to have one warmup race.

It was clearly we had similar paces. imalexi was faster in Dunlop and Spoon, I was faster at the hairpin, while faster but inconsistent at 130R.

I made a couple of horrific mistakes, but imalexi was a gentleman and waited. He finished a couple seconds ahead of me in the end.

Our actual race -

imalexi was #1 on the grid. Got out to a lead right away. Held it until lap 2 or 3, I was able to make a pass on the main straight. He took the spot back coming out of spoon, before 130R. I trailed from there until lap 4 or 5, when we came up on a backmarker Subaru on the main straight. imalexi was able to pass him at the end of the main straight, but then was punted off by him in Turn 1.

I slowed my pace to allow him to catch up, not wanting the interference from the other driver to affect our race outcome. imalexi was able to pass me again, due to a mistake in Dunlop, on lap 8 or 9.

I took the lead back coming up to 130R on lap 9. I held the lead (Barely) for the rest of the race from there.

It was a tight race overall, very limited mistakes from either of us. I was just lucky to come out ahead today.

Next, some announcements regarding the event.

The Schedule and Standings Thread has been started here.

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=117186

Additionally, week 2 specifics have been posted here -

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=117188

We've added another wrinkle this week. The combo used for the Event Matches our WRS (Weekly Race Series) combo.

Since you'll all be running some hotlaps in free run to get ready for the event, why not submit a WRS time while you're at it?

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=117179

Per our WRS rules, please do not discuss full lap times in free run in the forums or racing chat. OK to talk splits, and OK to talk online race laptimes. 👍
