I'm sorry guys but I have only one question: do you have to compete each new WRS? I'm a dad of 2 kids. That means that I cannot always compete with you. But I like the idea of comparing times. I've searched this area of forum but couldn't find it.

Participation each week is completely optional. As we state in each event:
:: Only Open to Qualified GTP_Registered Members ::

:: Members are not obligated to take part ::

As long as two tyres were in line with the hard stuff it is fine ;)

This has been addressed already by admin, it’s all about fair play if one has gone to the trouble of setting up an account, ran the qualifier for 2 or 3 weeks and wants to join in a great community like WRS.

One is expected to set the car up according to the rules for the particular combo for that week, plus guys who qualify in division 4 and are then setting lap times in division 1 on a combo, I think even someone as dumb as me will know that something is up.

Over the years OLR team have done a great job and I’m sure they will continue to do so.

Phillip.

I think EDK will go mad again. Tank Car at Autumn Ring Mini...

in my opinion its illegal because only 1 wheel is on the ground^^
But maybe its legal but the Qualifier instructions say that on every time the car must have 2 wheels on the track

EDK
Standard clean OLR rules apply:

  • 2 wheels on (or vertically in line with) the track at all times
  • Rumble/ripple strips are part of the track
  • No contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible
  • If you're not 100% sure that your lap is clean, then consider it dirty
  • No hybrids
  • No cheating of any kind
  • Nothing that goes against the spirit of the game
  • Anything we haven’t thought of that could be construed as cheating
  • Save your replay and keep it safe for at least 6 weeks after the deadline

All the best

My call is legal, since the rules say on or above the track.

I wonder if Gold/silver/bronze ranking in the WRS is for the actual bronze/silver/gold times

Nope. The top drivers will be beating the gold times from the challenge by lots of seconds. I dont consider myself a 'top' driver and am comfortably beating the gold time.

Indeed, Division 1 guys "should" be a bit faster than the gold times.

But also remember that there is a Gold/Silver/Bronze within each division. So Its hard to say what the cut off times will be for Division 2/3/4 let alone Gold/Silver/Bronze within them

That being said I wouldn't be surprised to see a bit of similarity between the cut off times for the divisions and the actual Gold / Silver / Bronze for the challenge.
But with so many variables and factors, all you can really do is just aim for your best and pray

I was kinda under the impression that 90% or so of drivers would be faster than Gold.

I really have no idea .
The WRS attracts drivers of all skill levels. I guess the gold time is something solid to aim for, but its anyones guess how far under the top guys will run.:scared:

well i've been searching youtube for the "Fastest times" for those splits to see whats actually possible and how close I am lol. I have to say I was hoping i would be high up there as I thought I had really good times compared to the gold times.

I know where not supposed to talk about our times specifically but I figured a good chunk of seconds under gold times would be DIV 1 but im starting to think that may not be the case lol.

As an example of legality. I would even OK this if this was as far out the car ever went. It seems like the trajectory of the car will carry it even further out though so it will probably be illegal in just another few frames.

Regarding schumi74's photo there is no doubt at all that it is legal as pointed out by Maz.

Day 3 on sector 2:

Starting to know the track.
Applied slow in and fast out.
Tested 75% throttle where 100% would send me out.

Beat my initial target with X seconds, not even at the limit yet, but believe it will start to get more difficult to get that last improvement.

The aliens will come with scary times I have the impression, I still see a lot of seconds faster then me.

I would love to find out after the original qualifying period is done, even if the person responsible for the time is not identified.

I reckon top times will be about X seconds better than Gt5s gold time

No way by that much.

Been running sector 2 twice now about 45min each, after first run i was pretty happy with my time but then without any reason i could find i cut X sec on second run.
This bumpy tricky ride holds many secrets i think, would be alot easier if you could see other peoples time also have splits.
Will be fun to see the times at the end of januari, but im telling you there will probably be some crazy laptimes out there! ;-)

OK guys, we're starting to get a little close to the line here regarding discussion of laptimes and trying to figure out how fast the fastest guys will be.

Please refrain from mentioning/discussing anything that could infer laptimes in the qualifier 👍

All the best
Maz

I think there's still some time to be found for me considering that I just bettered my sector 2 time by 3/10 with a 18 month boy sitting in my lap.

Second or third gear in the final corner of sector 2?

Haha! He had the wheel, right? :sly:
3rd gear.

Not sure if this has be mentioned but I don't understand something?

Can I not submit anything till Jan 14? I read through the guidelines but I'm still unsure.

Submission Deadline:

Yes, there is an initial deadline. Submissions will not be accepted before Friday, January 14th, 2011. The deadline for submission is Midnight (GMT) Friday January 28th, 2011. If you are unsure of the deadline in your time zone then try this site.

You can only submit your total time from both sectors from Jan 14th. So keep practicing until then, and when you reach your natural limit submit then or until the deadline.

You can't resubmit a faster time after.

Thank you for clearing that up. I thought that's what it meant I just wanted to be sure as this is my first time doing this

Quick question to admin, what if your fastest time for one of the sectors is one that you previously accomplished while doing the license? Obviously that time was not saved, does that mean that I should then submit the slower time thats more of a realistic version of my current performance on the track? Just wondering :)
