I've stopped grinding for money after PD introduced prize money for online races. Granted, it's not much per race but racing with real people is so much fun that in reality you don't think about until you finish a session and notice that you are a couple of hundred thousand richer than you were before.

I sincerely hope that when they finally bring on the time trial leaderboards (which they must) there will be prize money there as well. A few million for first place and a few thousand for getting in the top 100 or something like that.

Sorry for going off topic.

I won 90,000 credits for a race win among my GTP mates. 30 laps at autumn ring... Not bad when you factor in the fun like you said ;)

As for leaderboards I dont think its a neccesary thing. People who want to time trial have the seasonal events to attempt. Leaderboards as far as WRS is concerned would be a negative addition anyway.

Just my two cents :) Was just popping my head in to look for week one

My G25 potentiometers came today!:D Must....get them.....fitted!:scared: In time for week 1 that is.

Can I ask where you got them?

I find the seasonal events offer limited enjoyment for time triallers. There are just too many things going on within a particular seasonal event TT, things like users cutting corners, running cars down for dirty oil and lower HP so they can fit more torque-enhancing parts, waiting for the appropriate car to show up in your UCD etc. However there is one thing I like about the seasonal TTs, the enforced "off" position for Skid Recovery.

While leaderboards themselves may cause issue for WRS because they supply replays for particular combos using the Prologue model, they would have offered something extra for hotlappers (maybe outside of WRS) wanting to compete with others in a time trial without all of those tuning tactics, and on every track and every car.

Realistic or not, I certainly would welcome such leaderboards as I miss them 👍

All the best

I'm currently away on holidays and sent my qualifying times to Vaxen by PM before I left. (i had missed the original deadline and will be back after the qualifier reopens). If I didn't get a reply does that mean the "guys" are too busy getting the WRS going or did they just not receive it?

The qualifier hasn't been reopened yet, but your submission was received and will be processed once we're open again.

If all goes well I will finish the last b spec race before Sunday which will then let me forget about b spec altogether for all eternity and concentrate on "real" driving. 👍

Just completed all races for B-spec around 5hrs ago:sly:. Just need to complete the 2 24hrs:ouch: & the 9hr for A-spec and I have 100% completion.

Let's start our own... if we all chip in like 50p or summat, the overall winner gets a 1974 Austin Maxi 1750HL:

LOLz Have you seen how much these Great British crates are fetching on classic sites? I'd sell It.

OFF TOPIC
There a guy took one round the ring, Doesn't post his time though.

Point less post I know. It's just I can't believe somebody would take one round there.

Bring on the WRS.

If the leaderboards would be there some day, the best part would be that they surely would either block out the SRF or make it visible. This obviously would fit WRS pretty well.. 👍

But I miss them for other reasons too, I don't have the possibility to play for hours and hours at the moment, so I'd like to just get into a car and pick my favourite track and have proper TT from the lap #1. It's too much hassle now for me. And I can't even cherry pick the car I'm driving!! :P

I have to agree with Maz, seasonal events should have enforced rules. Even though we were promised TT boards before the new year. I know WRS will fill in missing void for GT5 for most of us.

Completely agree. 👍 Looking forward to round 1.

I think PD moved away from enforced car settings in TT for a reason. Why would they change it otherwise? If there is to be leaderboards you shouldn't restrict people to driving a certain setup, instead there should be a comprehensive search system.. tyre type, bhp, aids, friends etc etc.

In the context of WRS no one should be going anywhere near leaderboards anyway. Its forbidden!!! :scared:

In a way I think this is actually the complete opposite of what's happened, despite the intention you are suggesting. We have two live combos now to run as opposed to the hundreds we had before, maximum tyre is still enforced, lack of skid recovery is enforced. The online seasonal TTs are just the GT5 version of the old Online Time Trials with PP/drivetrain restrictions we had in Prologue. Once 'the' car is determined, everyone has to run it to be competitive. There is the odd spot of variety but not usually anywhere near the top. The only exceptions were GTRP Struppi's Miura amongst the many Countaches at Nurb GP/F and the Amemiya RX7s of Ramon, Canary Skills and myself among the sea of Superautobacs MRS at Deep Forest.

First of all I agree with you, secondly I think there is room for both models. At the moment what we have is a situation where if you want to be successful in a hotlap competition online, and let's not forget that it is a competition for a significant number of runners, then they are restricted to the favoured car, the exploitable tactics of dirty oil and strange ride heights etc to just level the playing field, then comes the driving...which has already been marred by numerous dirty winning laps. Of course there is room for clean driving and sensible setup still, and you can still run a lap that you are satisfied with in terms of setup and fairplay, anyone who takes the time to view the top 10s closely will soon find the real #1 in any combo. 👍

WRS is looking more attractive every day if you ask me.

All the best

A seemingly simple fix by adding hp, weight and tire info in a replay would make matters much easier here at WRS.

The PP's are comming back to GT5. Hopes that makes it possible to run WRS on sport tires and without fully upgrades on the car. Cos i hate the idea that all the WRS have be run on race soft and fully tuned cars, to keep cheaters away.

Can't stand tires with no grip.

??

WRS has never been ran that way. EDK and co strive to make the experience as life like as possible you know that 👍 If that means having to run comfort tyres ( sorry dave ^ ) thats the way it'll go down.

I'm sure most people here are honourable enough to run what's outlined each week, but just incase they dont the community aren't idiots. Cheaters will stick out like soar thumbs. Whats more is, once their replay has been investigated their name will be tarnished and they will be banned from competing. Or so i hope

Amen to that!! Every sunday after top gear i come and check to see if we're live! You never know, tomorrow could be that day :D

Good evening.

Speaking of tires, most of the time now, I run the cars on the nurburgring with comfort soft tires. I find it realistic and very difficult to match the real lap times.

cheers

Why would you say thats realistic? You don't expect dedicated track riders to use sport tires on the Porsche GT3s? I understand the average joe off the street going out for a spin having comforts on their mazda RX8, but the actual track cars would be set up a bit differently... non ?

I'm sure there was a post about this earlier, but mobile browsing=no searching. When does Week 1 begin, GMT?

Can anyone give info on when the qualifier is opening up again? So I can post my times in and get a division.
Gagging to know where I might be as I never done this before! Really looking forward to it.

Putting the finishing touches on it, I will have it up within a few hours.

It should be early March, at the latest.
