I don't think the issue here is your mistake.
I think it's the fact that you continue to defend your position and come across as though you did nothing wrong.
I haven't been defending my mistake, I've been defending my moral position after Sphinx's rude response to my question, something for which he has neither apologised for, nor even engaged me in coversation over. I thought you would be bigger than that Sphinx.
I concede I have not apologised for my mistake either thus far but its hard to apologise when you're being insulted and brow beaten. This is how it should have gone, with a little tact and patience:
VA: Am I affected by this since I have a time on the board even though that is not my qualifier time?
Sphinx: Yes you are affected - no GTP tag should have a time on the leaderboard
VA: My apologies in that case - I was careless when messing around in TT but assumed it would not be a problem since I had already submitted my qualifier lap time.
Sphinx: Apology accepted - be more careful in the future; the rules exist for a reason and this kind of thing can make a mess of the qualifier.
VA: No problem. My apologies again... May I suggest changing that part of the rules to read "No GTP tag bearer must set a time online for this Time Trial - You have been warned!"
Instead, Sphinx seized on my questioning the wording of the rules and decided sarcasm would be a better response, thus triggering my defensive behaviour. I indeed apologise for making the mistake in the first place but I'm not going to retract anything else I've said with regard to Sphinx being rude.
If you are still willing to accept me into the divisions, I stand by my time. If not, I would like at least some acceptance that you had no need to be so confrontational. Then one way way or another we can put this behind us.
