Practice room open to run some of the night tracks. 475pp, any drivetrain and tuning prohibited. Ruz just joined.

I think I've figured out my strategy, and I'm happy that it's different from all the friends I've practiced with for the last couple weeks. :D

Lots of usable cars for the next few Cups, if you don't limit yourself with spending limits. :embarrassed:

- Vette GRAND SPORT on SH (or maybe SMs ), on tracks where it's not a stupid rocket. :scared:

- RUF CTR2 to deplete my balance and get me through the 4WD and Schwarzwald Cups. :)

- Dino for the MR and Italia Cups. (assuming I have enough to buy it after splurging on the RUF)

- Muscle car To-Be-Determined, but I'll be avoiding Fix-Or-Repair-Daily Fords.

Ruz and Mike and Patrick and Paul have better strategies, but this is mine. And you guys with the Boxster 3400S better detune heavily because that car is killer. 👍

I thought you guys would have a practice room yesterday night, but I just couldn't stay awake. Today is friday and I have an easy day so I'll be there tonight.
Have done a lot of practice with the 3400S but considering there are three of us already, I might go for a last minute alternative. My take was the Boxster for the Clubman, MR, and Schwartzwald cup, so I could buy an Italian FR or go bonkers and get a Lambo for the 4wd and Italian cup. I'll be testing some Audi today and see what I can get.
I'll probably use my dad's Chevy Nova for the Muscle cup even if I get slaughtered. He had a 1973 4-door, dark blue, black vynil top SS (4.1L engine,4-speed ZF transmission in Argentina) so not really the same but close enough. Probably one of the happiest memories of him (Besides going to the soccer stadium to see our team every other sunday) was riding in that Nova. Driving that car always got a smile on his face when nothing else seemed to work for him.

Practice room up. I might be AFK intermittently. Sorry for the double post but thought that if I edited the last post people wouldn't get the alerts. Will be there for an hour more or less.

I'm keeping the Tamora for the next 2 Cups, even though I have no idea how to take advantage of the tuning to tune out the snap oversteer. It will be back to its traditional carbon grey, but I haven't decided whether to detune to use the Sport Medium tires (I'm a touch too quick on those) or take my usual back-of-the-field spot on Sport Hard tires (I'm about 3 seconds/lap behind the pace after limited, untuned testing).

As for the MR Cup and beyond, that's highly dependent on the finalization of the regulations for the Schwartzwald and Italia Cups. One scenario (max PP in the 480 range) would have a heap of cars bought (the 1997 Toyota MR2 GT-S for MR, the 2008 Maserati GranTurismo S for Italia, the 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII GSR for 4WD, and the 2008 BMW Z4 M Coupe for Schwartzwald). The other (if the max PP is the original 500 PP) would see 2 cars - the 1988 Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary (MR/Italia) and the 2009 Audi R8 5.2 FSI quattro (Schwartzwald/4WD; hopefully less squirrely than the 2007).

I'm thinking of using the 1971 Plymouth Cuda 440 Six Pack for the Muscle Car Cup.

Well after an hour of testing I decided to chicken and staying with the 3400S. Too late to test all three tracks seriously really.
Testing room still open with Jon (JTV) and Stefan (Meisterfetz) doing battle. I'm getting something to eat and will be back in 15'

I thought about minimizing the number of cars I will need for the next 7 events (it can be done with 3). But when looking at the prices of German and Italian with specific drivetrains (MR/4WD) it will be cheaper to just buy more cars.
I'll be starting with '07 M3 for the next two cups and then get some cheap MR car. The Honda Beat fully tunned (under 14k) can get close to the lap time for Autumn Ring but I suspect it would get smoked at Fuji on straights.
I will try to make my '96 Lancer work for 4wd (already own that car) but I think it will be too slow.

I've gone with SM tyres with the Ferrari 512B and de tuned, CH tyres were fun but a bit to much hard work when around multiple cars on track, HSR is quite tricky even with CM tyres, its a lot easier to stay up high on the corners as soon a you go low the back end likes to slide out.

I thought i'd posted the PP settings for the remainder of the Championship, apologies if I had not.

  • 500pp clubman cup tuning allowed
  • Night masters 475pp no tunning
  • MR cup 470pp tuning allowed
  • Festival italia 460pp tuning allowed
  • Schwarzwald cup 480pp tuning allowed
  • 4wd 465pp no tuning
  • Classic muscle car 460pp tuning allowed

Ruz and Mike and Patrick and Paul have better strategies, but this is mine.

I have no strategy, I just buy cars I like to race :sly:, it would of been a better strategy to keep Genesis going but its time to split up until I need to do a reunion for some cash.

A word to the wise - you probably will want to dial back at High Speed Ring. I'm still a couple seconds off the pace at the other two tracks with my Tamora (499 pp with the two minor weight reduction items and sport/hard tires), but I busted clear through the cap at HSR.

Question: If team points were added would you prefer that the winner of the team was total'd at the end of a Championship (e.g National A 18 Races) ?
or
The team winner was done for each cup (e.g 3-4 races)?

That changes things slightly. Out go the Toyota and Maserati, in goes the 1976 Ferrari 512 BB (though that might change to the 2006 Ferrari F430 depending on how well I do and what everybody else is thinking of).

I have no preference on when team points are summed up.

Edit - On second thought, I don't want to have to work the suspension to make the 512 work. Surprisingly, both Countaches are rather docile.

Also, since Lucas won't be going for the 1971 Mustang, I will; unlike the Cuda I was looking at earlier, it can be painted. If only we had the 2nd generation Mustang (think Bullitt),....

Paul could you post again the registration form for new cars please?
We will all be having to register soon...

I think I have my car sorted. It still needs a bit of fine tuning, or I need to learn how to handle it better. It's a bit less smokey than the Impreza I practiced with (I did some practicing in it the other day, and while I did manage some 1:36.xxx laps with minimal smoke, I think I'd get a bit too excited in a possible overtake scenario and end up filling a corner with tyre smoke). It's not as fast as the Impreza, but I'll take slow and stable over a faster car that could risk negatively impacting another driver's race.

What BB do you usually use when running ABS 0?

Usually quite low. It varies a little, depending on the car, PP limit, tyre restriction etc, but usually between 3-5. The Impreza was on 5/5 when I drove it the other day.
If I'm running normal brakes, I'm usually at 5/5. If it's racing brakes on anything other than racing tires, it's far lower.

Still unsure but probably gonna spend 100k more than I thought and go for the R8 for the clubman, Nightmasters, 4wd and Schwartzwald cup (Swiss Army Knife of a car :D)
Ferrari BB, and Chevy Nova after that probably...or Dino for the MR too, or...:dunce:
