Ok Aliens, slow down, your pushing me down the leader board :grumpy::sly:👍

My car happens to be a 6 speed manual. It goes about 35 MPH in 1st, nearly 60 MPH in second. 3rd goes up to about 90, and we won't talk about the rest of them. ;)

Just curious Kev. what does your car do in 6th gear? :sly:

New splits:

25.528
24.118
20.214
-------

ABS 1
AS Strong
BB 6/9

Overall 3 tenths left I guess....

Not sure how much more time will I spend this week, awaiting Mass Effect 2 to arrive and when it does I wont be doing much driving I think! :)

Not sure how much time I'm going to be able to dedicate to this weeks event which is a shame as I like the track. Another interesting anomaly is that the game has crashed twice in 10 minutes at the same point in the track (just before the line)...

Anyway, while it was working I managed 15 minutes of running...

26.248
24.823
21.143

6th is an economy gear. It's a 0.500 ratio overdrive. 5th is also an overdrive gear, about 0.850. The engine cranks over at about 1400 rpm's when going 80 mph in 6th gear.

Might throw some more splits up just cause I like this combo. Following Dan's advise, I managed to shave nearly .5 off of my T3.

 Dan. If I ever make it to D1, I'm going to buy you a drink :)

T1: 25.838
T2: 24.182
T3: 20.856

💡

Their not use to stick shift, so set the gearing that it’s just one shift up one shift down.

;)

Phillip.

I was joking Kevin.

The real story is that PD messed up when modeling the gearing for this car.

My car happens to be a 6 speed manual. It goes about 35 MPH in 1st, nearly 60 MPH in second. 3rd goes up to about 90, and we won't talk about the rest of them. ;)

The automatic has a 5 speed and different final drive ratio, but the shift points are actually quite similar. It seems PD decided to fit the car with a 2500 final drive ratio, or something. :yuck:

I like this bit in the details.

"I chose the N3 tires because they provide the most realistic interpretation of the driving experience my car provides."

Real drivers car this week, makes for a nice change, now all I have to do is speed up my reaction times. :grumpy:

Phillip. :sly:

Thanks for the tips Dan. Personally I really appreciate all your inputs and makes sense for me to continue on the WRS week after week for people like you, that share all your knowledge with us, less talented drivers.

Yeah, I knew you were joking but I still needed to take the chance to defend my honor. ;)

I really was hoping the online time trials would eventually come to Laguna Seca, and would allow me to run this combo there. If you fit the car with a 6 speed close ratio gear box, the shift points are very close to what they are on the real car. It's pretty frustrating that they are that far off with the gears. :grumpy:

The weight transfer and handling characteristics are accurately modeled, so that's a nice bonus. 👍

Another interesting anomaly is that the game has crashed twice in 10 minutes at the same point in the track (just before the line)...

It's your ghost car that's causing the crashing. I don't know why it does this but sometimes when you load a ghost lap to follow, it crashes when the ghost car crosses the line. I have had it do this to me a few times over the course of the WRS.

What a week, and weekend! Inspiring racing here in the WRS and around the world!

First 30min with this enjoyable combo:
26.314
25.210
21.576

Thanks EDK! 👍

First 5 laps. Quite fun, need a bit more practice to get first sector right, which I think is possibly the hardest sector on the track, this is about .2 off my best there. Dan's advice is great. 👍

25.939
24.259
20.456

New Splits:
T1: 26.036
T2: 24.537
T3: 20.803

I screwed up in T4, costing myself a little time at the line, but still 2 tenths faster tham previous best.

I was hoping to get some runs in today, but it's not going to happen. By the times that are already here, it looks like I'll have some work to do.

Every corner is difficult, I'm sure you can make a good run with laps, but I also expect division more lined up this week, much like the nurb, pardon a few exceptions, probably including yourself.

First run, being a bit more delicate than previous week

26.554
25.047
21.765

DS3

27.529
25.451
21.875

First clean replay. I can do much better. Going to try the wheel tonight after work, can't get away with using it while my son is awake!

Thanks Ash, I'll leave him in the garage next time.

Thanks Ash, I'll leave him in the garage next time.

If and when you beat that time and then save it, the next one probably won't cause crashing. As I said, I had this last week and some of the other weeks too. I wish I knew what causes it so I can avoid it in the future. It's strange, if you view the lap in the replay section it will play just fine without any problems, load it as a ghost replay though and it will crash at the line every time.:boggled:

Let us know if it happens again without the ghost, because Ash is saying the same thing I thought. That what's happened to me during GT Academy, and I'm curious to whether we are right or not. And it's usually just one ghost, any other one works fine. An issue for PD to address, I would think! 💡

It is the presence of old replays that triggers this bug. No rational explanation, but delete some or all of them and it stops. Copy out the important ones to XMB first, you can import them back later and they will work fine. 👍

First splits

T1 25.584
T2 24.647
T3 20.592

Completely messed up T2 and 3, been 4 tenths faster in T2, have another crack at this tomorrow.

Great combo Kev 👍

Had a quick go,
T1-25.635
T2-24.452
T3-20.689

Last sector i nailed to within about a .1 of my limit id say, quite like this combo:tup:

Another .2 off T3 :) T1 was a little slow but made it up at T2 & 3.

T1: 25.840
T2: 24.160
T3: 20.637

I dont feel so good :ill:. My body feels like it wants to tranforms :P
