Can you guys go full thottle in Ascari?
I alwasy have to ease a bit, if not i end up on the right gravel.
I suppose it depends on how you enter that section, I try to coast in as tight as possible to the left at around 120 kph and then go full throttle from when I start turning right. If I ease up after that I lose so much time I don't have a snowballs chance in hell of beating the ghost, so might as well risk going wide. ;)

Well after checking with photo mode some of my fastest laps were like an inch off so went and did some again today, some over cautious clean laps, still was getting some of my fastest first 2 sectors with 1:08.8xx being my fastest unfortunatly crashed at the parabolica back left tyre just touching the grass. Anyhow my fastest lap had a poor first 2 sectors but a very good last sector so I'll just see if I get any time tomorrow but puts me down on split board but guarenteed clean lap (With the second chicane on the edge but still just in).

T1: 31.458
T2: 37.714

My fastest splits have been a 31.1xx and 37.3xx (Different laps) but nevermind will just see tomorrow, it is annoying this combo but still an excellent combo its about pin point accuracy and abit of luck to get the best times. 👍

Excellent T1 Stotty I really can't get near that very well played!

Just a few last things to say:

Reading back over my original post about the track/combo, I don't know how any of this got to this level of debate. At the end of the day, I made a comment complaining about the penalty system on GT5, which is no different to people complaining about the invisible walls around Tokyo the previous week, but I seem to get some sort of retaliation for it? Before you say, "Yeah but you just came in to the thread with nothing else to say", this thought was said after I had already ran a session around the track, meaning that I had just as much right to express what I thought about the game's system as people were in the Tokyo thread about the invisible walls, no difference.

Well, since you seem to have avoided directly responding to my posts regarding the reason for my dissatisfaction, I won't expect a direct response here either.

For me, this is what started this "debate". Has nothing to do with the penalty system comments.

Done like 5 laps, already can't stand the combination! Despite not liking the track as it is, making sure you use all of the track can save you so much time in this combination, which just makes things even more horrible.

I don't take it personally that people don't like it. I think the participation numbers reflect the popularity of a combo, for the most part.

What I take personally is someone coming into the race thread and openly expressing their negative opinion of the combo. It's just not needed, and I consider it rude.

Your intent may have been simply to complain about the penalty system, and how it makes it difficult to get a clean lap, whatever. But the majority of your post seems to be directed at the combo selection, and you can see my opinion on that subject.

Also when mentioning about the "personal attacks" made on other members, correct me if I'm wrong, but I haven't made any personal attacks to anyone on this forum, it was actually a "highly respected member" around here that made the first attack.

There have been no personal attacks in this thread. Comments have been directed at your behavior or comments, not you personally. There's a subtle difference.

when running a series, all competitors should be treated with equal respect. The WRS is a well structured and professionally run event, so you would think comments like "but he's earned my respect 50 times over as compared to you and the rest of the "Skills" team", wouldn't be made. Again, none of this would of even be said if my original post didn't get taken personally for no apparent reason.

Respect is something that's earned. It's not handed out on an equal opportunity basis. When making rulings, it's important for us to be consistent, and we are. We treat everyone the same.

But to suggest that I should hand the same level of respect to a brand new participant that I don't even know as I do to someone that's been a registry member since the inception of the registry is, in my mind, ridiculous.

On a positive note, I can appreciate the organisation and effort levels to maintain the WRS to a high standard, I've got nothing against any of you in here. I look forward to running Week 19! :)

-Spud.

OK, then. Thanks.

I honestly don't understand why the (debatably) flawed penalty system in GT5 is of any importance in WRS since the rules specified in the series have more or less nothing at all in common with the GT5 penalties. The rules regarding what is a valid lap and what is not are quite clear and if I want to compete in WRS I abide by them. If I for some reason don't like these rules I do not take part. Simple.

I'll be skipping this week, after my first few laps I didn't have any time to run this combo. I'll see you all next week.

I don't suppose there's a way to get back deleted replays? I was clearing out all the old laps I didn't need and my 2nd fastest was my clean lap but I saved the fastest, which is far from clean 👎

From the main menu go to options/miscellaneous/utilities and click salvage files, it's worked for me before

Submitting with my newest splits

If this works, then  I shall test it later tonight.

Thanks Chris - I've impressed myself as well! The o/a position is helped by a number of absentee's this week, but I'm VERY happy with the time. My Lesmo 1 is a thing of beauty

Not much more to report here other than I will be submitting with these splits

T1: 31.406
T2: 38.082

Ok, maybe these splits.

T1: 31.422
T2: 38.047

 & Good Luck.

Finally managed a lap I'm really happy with. I dipped my rear left in the sand exiting 2nd which probably cost me a tenth, but a solid T1 and a new best in T3 more than made up for it. Best of all, no ridiculously close calls on the curbs! :D

T1: 31.399
T2: 37.890

Submitting this lap, good luck to anyone still going at it. I have to say that this combo has been both the most frustrating and the most enjoyable one yet!

I am finished with this combo now.

31.567
37.743

I'm submitting the lap with these splits.:)

Won't have time to have a final run at this tonight so I'm submitting. I think I could of got another 2 tenths of my PB but I just couldn't string the lap together.

Good luck guys.

Nice pic, Jon, and yes, CLOSE! :scared: 👍 So that would be just after your "thing of beauty".

I've submitted with the splits on the board, and feel a little bad that whoever checks my replay will need to inspect turn 1 repeatedly, but I think it's clean.
At least it's close to the beginning of the replay! :dopey:

Thanks again for that great combo!

Slower T1, but faster T2 and about a tenth or so faster than the lap I deleted by mistake.

Embarrassingly, I’m going to have to ask that my time is removed from the board.

I thought I’d have another quick go to see if I could improve and it felt like I was in a different car… checked and I had sports hard tyres fitted… and also noticed that SRF was on. This was probably from my last X1 rubber banding session at Like the Wind as it’s been a fair while since I actually drove anything in GT5 myself.

By the time I’d sorted all this out and got the spec right I only had time for 12 laps… and of course my times were quite a bit slower without kiddy physics engaged.

Should have realised there was something wrong with my original time sooner… I know from experience you just don’t jump in the WRS and set a top time after only 36 laps… it takes a lot more time than that!

Apologies for misleading anyone :dunce:

Wouldn't editing your post with the splits be the proper thing to do?
Sorry to hear that, Stotty.

Had a final go this evening. Managed to improve a little. I quite enjoyed this combo despite doing 10 dirty laps for every clean one. Submitted with these splits.

T1: 31.852
T2: 38.788

Submitted yesterday.

Started so well this week but improved by almost nothing in something like a hundred laps, pretty frustrating.

All the best to those still running - Unfortunate for you Stotty, but there's still time for a decent crack at it!

D2 looks pretty hot up at the top, be interesting to see how close it is on overall time - I'm willing to bet it'll be pretty close. Hoping I can be in the top 6, but we'll see :D

Hey Matt, I'm pretty confident I'm not going to get the top spot after my Parabolica disaster, but I'm hoping for a podium. Good luck mate, and to anyone else still running as well

can't submit this week.. called in to work early and didn't have time to get my best lap. Even though I know I didn't do very well, I was still going to submit.

JB

Just missed my goals to get under 32 & 39:

T1: 32.072
T2: 39.001

Submitting with these splits.
