GTP_WRS (GT5) Week 18 : In the Mood for Some Italian

Anyone manage their sessions/ghost replays differently? Any quicker way to view just the "new" ghost replay besides saving and going to GT mode and replay center?
I only run 1 lap at a time. If it's slower than my ghost, or I'm certain it's a dirty lap, I hit restart after exiting last turn (I don't bother driving to the line). If it's faster then I check it with the normal "replay" before saving. If it turns out to be dirty I do the quit/reload dance.

Typically I only cross the actual finish line 3-4 times a session, on this combo at least...

Done like 5 laps, already can't stand the combination! Despite not liking the track as it is, making sure you use all of the track can save you so much time in this combination, which just makes things even more horrible. If only GT had a proper penalty system eh?

Yes, you have to use ALL the track, and because of that, there's a certain amount of luck involved - my lap is very close in a couple of places, and could just have easily been dirty (though my T1 actually has quite conservative exit from the 1st chicane).

Not sure how the penalty systems impact WRS as we have our own specific penalty system here.

I just don't understand how you are going so fast in T1, I can hit mid 37's in T2 but T1 I can't get any quicker than a .4 :indiff: Any tips on where to brake, what speed to drop down to and how to take the corner?! 👍

I'm 161/162mph over the start line, meaning I brake just before/at the 200m board. Braking in a stright line on the left and coming down the gears to 2nd, turning slightly for the aex early... off the brakes and turn in hard for the 1st apex... use all the inside kerb... stay off the gas until the car has completed turing right and started turning left... then full throttle out. Flat to the T1 split.

For a good T1 you need to have a good exit from Parabolica. A poor Parabolica will harm your line speed and hurt your T1.

Sounds familiar....

My first WRS, feels great :)

T1: 31.781
T2: 38.258

My 16th lap.. Long way to go :)
Welcome, hope you enjoy it and stick around a while.

Edit: Gave it another run, now I remember never liking the Gallardo in stock trim anywhere besides the Nurburgring.
I will see you all next week hopefully. 👍

Amazing isn't it, I remember everybody getting agitated when I said how poor the penalty system was on this game, and the next person to say how bad it is surprisingly is another Team_Skills member :sly:

If I could remember the name of the thread I would show you just how much you have complained about the flaws in this game, as I was reading your comments yesterday. Not to mention you seem to be a fan of the FM series according to some of your posts.

Amazing that you can voice your opinion in the other thread but don't say anything in here, I see you are planning on getting FM4 also, would that be because it is going to be a superior game with a far superior penalty system.

I had a break a while back from the WRS because I could see I was getting on peoples nerves with my opinion on the penalty system, since then I have come back a different person that doesn't say anything because nobody seems to like the truth.

Just my 2 cents, seeing as though what I have quoted seems to be singling me out:tup:

I was actually referring to when EDK posted the exact same thing to me in week 12, I think.

I have plenty of gripes about GT5, and am considering FM4, though I've never played a FM game to date.

The WRS isn't really the place to let off steam about everything that annoys me about this game, so I leave it in the other threads where people are already talking about it. 👍

This is what CSL was referring to: :P

27.522 33.034 41.639 (1'42.195) Can I run faster? Yes. Will I? Doubt it. I hate this track with all my heart and a stock GTi with too much grip means no throttle finesse required. To simple for me. might submit after my 15 laps in. @Pyxen - just yank the wheel and punch the throttle at the right time, all this combo is.

Glad you're enjoying yourself. :dopey:

This is not the place to air grievances about GT5, launch personal attacks on other members, nor promote Forza. ....And I'm pretty sure it wasn't your complaints about the penalty system that were "getting on everyone's nerves" Plato.

Edit - The reason Kev pokes someone who seems to be complaining about the combo is based on a simple premise: Not enjoying it, don't run it. WRS is supposed to be fun.

Nice sector 1, not so nice Lesmo 1. It's all about getting the corner exits right this week it seems. So much time to win/lose on those looong straights.

T1: 31.400
T2: 38.568

I'm having so much trouble with Lesmo 1, I probably did a great job last time cause my ghost keeps passing me between the 2 even with 2 tenths ahead.

Probably my last:

Having real problems being consistent through the second chicane and also the middle of Ascari. Managed to get the first of those right on this lap but lost three tenths to my best sector in T3. Still, a healthy improvement at the line so I'll take it :)

Nice job Jon mate. 👍

I had a quick blast round with this last night, just out of curiosity... about 10 laps I think. Ok I'm lacking a little motivation at the mo but hell, this tank is impossible to judge braking when you first get in it.

No I'm not posting splits :sly: Let's just say I'd be a little over-par :dopey: I'm still on hiatus - haven't the time or will to chase it down this week.

Great job anyone who meets their target with this one.

WRP001 - Division 3? :odd:

Just glanced at the leaderboard again... Chris that T1 is outrageous. Amazing job mate. 👍

Thanks Chris - I'm a late starter on this myself as I didn't run any laps until Thursday. Nothing yesterday, but am getting a good chunk of time tonight as everyone is in bed already with the lurgy :ill: Realised Ascari wasn't my issue after following my ghost, it's actually my entry into Parabolica that was too tentative :ouch:

Off to find three tenths

EDIT: Final splits for the night - tenth slower at T2, half a tenth up at the line :)

31.530
38.066

Yep. 👍

That, and the fact that I donate a considerable amount of my personal time to running the series. I don't expect every comment to be positive, but when someone literally says, "I can't stand the combo", I take that personally.

He explains himself, to some degree. If his complaint is about the penalty system, or my choice of boundaries, that's an opinion he's entitled to. If he just doesn't like the car and track, as you said, why is he even running it?

Well I have managed to string together an alright for me lap, although will still be firmly at the bottom of the leader board. Ah well!

Gonna submit soon as this is driving me nuts now and Im getting worse. Got a half decent lap but could be so much better, if I had some ability.... :-<

Sometimes it´s better to walk away and not try to much because we keep making the same mistakes over and over again.
Come back tomorrow with a fresh mind, drive around some laps just to feel the car again and then give it a new try.

On this combo i can get several times below 31.4xx but one of this nights, for how harder i tryed i was always above 31.6xx

I'm actually loving this combo, to me the car suits the track perfectly.
My first splits from a couple of days ago.
I'm headed for another session now and hope to update these splits with quicker ones.

31.486
38.684

Have fun and be safe in your travels, Kevin. 👍

WRP001 - Division 3? :odd:

I did my best on the quali... really... and I have improved over the last couple weeks since my quali.

This combo matches my driving style (or maybe my lack of) I think what CSLACR said on a previous post applies somewhat to this week:

"...no throttle finesse required.... just yank the wheel and punch the throttle..."

I think Div 3 Silver is probably a decent initial placement for me... we'll see after a few weeks... When a combo requires that throttle finesse I'll be tested for sure. I'm certainly not trying to pull any shenanigans.

WRP001 - Division 3? :odd:

I already sent him a PM, and based on his response, I'm quite satisfied that he qualified properly AND is running this week's combo within the rules.

Some others could also speak to the fact that I'm not afraid to fire a warning shot to those who seem out of place on the leaderboard. ;)

Finally tried with the wheel for the first time last night, now I like it even better, and the first chicane and I have made up. :sly: The force feedback really helped me get consistent there, I think, compared to DS3 runs. (I said "consistent", not "fast").

Thanks again Kevin, you're constantly above-and-beyond. 👍 👍
Have a nice/safe trip!

EDIT: Nice jump poolhaas! I'll be trying to catch up later tonight!
Looks like WRP001 has D3 gold wrapped, though.

Simples.. Don't like it don't run it.. Don't come here moaning about it and looking like a whiny little girl ;)

The end.

I feel like this track is breaking my spirit a little - I've had so many good laps be 2-3 cm off the red/white and you really have to get that close to maintain speed through the chicanes. I haven't posted any splits for a few days simply because I haven't been able to beat my last posted lap (cleanly), until just now. :)

T1: 31.493
T2: 37.835

Even though it's a slower split, a much better T3 let me beat my finish by over a tenth. I think in general I'm too cautious when I drive, I never "yank the wheel and punch the throttle" as someone said. I've accidentally drifted lesmo 1 a few times and left my ghost in the dust but I can't seem to do it on purpose (I hit the outside grass on entry). I assume most corners can be taken quite a bit more aggressively but it becomes so hard to keep it on the track all the way to the line.

Some new splits and an epic T3 dont think ill replicate that but I know theres still huge improvements in T2 (3-4 Tenths) and a bit in T1 so will keep at it! :)!

T1: 31.349
T2: 37.676
